If it's a Balder-specific dispatch, sounds like something bugged out in referencing you for our region's version thereof.

If it's anything else, I've no idea.

Just says mentioned in dispatch that no longer exists. No specifics other then that

Cocaine mostly increases your risk of cancer but in some cases causes cancer.

And yes and no, Coca extract has little to no cancer causing agents but Cocaine, the Coca extract with chemicals, causes cancer due to it containing amphetamines and creatine. It is difficult to explain because many people believe Coca extract and Cocaine are the same, but they are not. And whether you want to blame the chemicals for cancer or Cocaine is really your preference.

Well, i dont know if cocaine can cause cancer, but i think the main issue is that the cocaine the majority of drug users consume it's not pure, as is usually combined with other substances to make it more powerful and/or make a lot more. Maybe that combination of god-knows-what is what produces cancer, but i'm speaking from ignorance, it is just a theory.

There are some good things about legalizing drugs, like reducing the power of the dealer. Since the risk of selling drugs is high, the price of cocaine is very big, and so the big dealers tend to make enormous amounts of money. By decriminalizing consumption and/or trade, the risk of selling goes down, so does the prize, reducing the income of drug dealers.

Another good thing is that it creates a market for treatment. Nowadays, addicted people have little to no posibilities of exiting that world, as there are very few treatments and they are afraid of telling someone of their problem bc they could get denounced. And so, they only group up with other addicts, fomenting consumption. By legalizing it, although more people would start using drugs, it will be easier for them to try and find some cure for their addiction, creating a market for more treatments and such, boosting the economy and technology.

Not to mention they will recieve higher quality drugs from stores with proper licenses and standards. I think that this is the largest benefit to legalising recreational drugs.

No one just randomly goes and says "I will become a drug addict today". Most people do drugs out of misery. And get addicted while getting a short high, thus creating even more misery. This basically puts them in a loop they can never get out of without serious help.

Addiction isn't caused by the drug itself, It's the chemicals dealers put in it. People don't go into the hospital with a broken femur and walk out with a morphine addiction, do they?

Legalising drugs would reduce crime, because there would be less junkies willing to do anything for a hit. It would create a new source of revenue for the government through taxation. And as I said, people can recieve high-quality drugs without any impurities. I'm not saying it wouldn't create any new, perhaps worse problems. It very well can, but; in my opinion, it would be a good thing overall.

I have no desire to comment on the rest of this (it is a debate that I don't really have a position in as I don't know enough to form a serious opinion), but this needed to be called out. You are completely, totally incorrect here.

Alcohol, heroin, cocaine, and many other drugs absolutely are addictive in and of themselves. It is not because of additives put into them by dealers. You absolutely can walk out of a hospital with a morphine addiction; it's why we have the ongoing "opioid crisis," because pharmaceutical companies pushed selling opioid (=morphine-type) pain meds to patients, and doctors over-prescribed them.

Cocaine in specific is particularly damaging. Even a single use can permanently alter your brain's cells, removing many of their serotonin receptors. Once they're gone, they may never come back, and without serotonin, you basically cannot get the hormone component of feeling happy about anything. You literally burn up part of your lifetime happiness for a few minutes' delirious high.

THAT is why (purified) cocaine is incredibly dangerous. (Well, that and the fact that it can potentially kill you with a single dose, but the chronic effects are generally the biggest problem.)
