The Queendom of Silvanesti is a huge, orderly nation, remarkable for its punitive income tax rates, devotion to social welfare, and stringent health and safety legislation. The cynical population of 967 million Silvanestians are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

The large, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Administration, Defense, and Education. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Island of Kern. The average income tax rate is 70.7%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The all-consuming Silvanestian economy, worth 87.6 trillion credits a year, is quite specialized and led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with major contributions from Information Technology, Book Publishing, and Tourism. State-owned companies are common. Average income is 90,634 credits, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

The skeletons of lost tourists litter the ground of the Great Silvanestian Desert, truncheon-mounted cameras record the beating of criminals in dynamic HD detail, the government is proudly free of crabs, and baseball caps are the new fashion trend. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Silvanesti's national animal is the Dragon, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies.

Silvanesti is ranked 304,036^th in the world and 462^nd in Starlight for Highest Unexpected Death Rate, scoring 22.9 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
