The Social Reformer -- Twenty-seventh, Pride and Anniversary Edition Hello friends, and Happy Pride Month! Come check out the latest edition of The Social Reformer, featuring a Yodle special message, an interview section, a small comic, and a report on one of the biggest events in Nationstates' history. Make sure to upvote and have a nice day NSers!  Hello there, fellow readers! Did you know that on June 5th, 2016, The Region That Has No Big Banks was founded by yours truly? Well, you do now! That makes NBB 9 years old, or in other words, a 4th grader in most K-12 schooling. A more profound reflection on how impactful NBB has been for me is that I have spent nearly a third of my life on this wonderful website and region. Time flies when you’re having fun! I am incredibly proud of the work that every single participant in this wonderful community has contributed over the last 9 years, but especially since 2020. This region may have started as a “social experiment” for me, but today it stands as a thriving pillar of the greater NationStates community. NBB is now an entity that has far grown past any personal ambitions I could have dreamed of in the beginning. I simply wanted to create a Bernie Sanders-themed region to find like-minded people. While Sanders remains a key aesthetic, we now represent much more, in many new areas of the game. Most notably in recent months, the Bankless Liberation Force (BLF) has become much more well-known under the leadership of Faralried, participating in two history-making operations! On top of that, our cultural events have always been widely renowned. Despite their recent drop-off in interest and activity, this will shortly be remedied by a new incoming administration, which most, if not all, candidates have committed to putting greater efforts toward improving events. I am highly confident that the post-ATG era of NBB will continue to improve our community and reach new heights in achievements. This election has showcased a notable diversity in candidate platforms when it comes to Foreign Affairs, which I believe to be the biggest player in terms of NBB politics at the moment. My personal opinion on this matter is that whichever direction the people choose, ultimately, an amalgamation of everyone’s policies is likely to be pursued (even if watered down). Or in other words, some kind of middle ground is the most likely scenario. This is and will be a healthy result of an active democratic system, especially one in which mediation and compromise are the preferred approach. My message to all of our prospective candidates is the following: Regardless of the outcome of this election, I hope that it will not be interpreted in a way that demotivates or discourages pursuing your preferred agenda. Four months until the next election is a long time, sure, but there will always be a next time to seek higher office. Think of it like putting in the work and effort now to build up your electoral resume, showing that when you say you will get something done, you mean it and are willing to make it happen regardless of title. This is the way forward. You all are amazing candidates, and I assure you that if you keep active and working toward the betterment of this community, you will get the chance to lead at a higher level, carried by your collective contributions. We will always have opportunities available to people who wish to put their time and effort into NBB! Good luck to our candidates this election, and happy 9th birthday to NBB! It is wonderful to see so much life even after 9 years, you guys keep this community alive and running, so you own it as much as I do, as far as I’m concerned. Happy June and Happy Pride Month, everyone! As NBB hits its nine-year mark, it's become clear that NBB has been well past its Pax Bankerma era as this administration ends and NBB enters it's entirely new age of Government. It's unclear if veterans like New United Common-lands and America the Greater will ever return into the government but for this term there have only been citizens who joined during 2023 and onward who have expressed interest in joining the government or content with its activities. (With The Washington Federation being an exception Campagins have been spread out all over the RMB, all promising similar but different solutions to problems, but one common enemy is activity which me and America the Greater have discussed multiple times in the previous editions and sometimes can not entirley dealt with in one solution, However, another topic that seemed to divide NBB far out is Gameplay and Cultural Foreign Affairs. Most of the NBBers are stating a difference and a clear contrast line between the two, while the majority of the Foreign Affairs committee has stated a similar association and collaboration. Citizens and other candidates have argued that Faralried will express apathetic actions against the culture sectors if elected and will instead focus on gameplay and potential World Assembly affaris to increase "name" and "self popularity". (Although this wasn't expressed in Faralried's campaigns.) The allegations likely came from Faralried's previous terms as a Gameplay and Foreign Affairs centered government member and Faralried promoting a closed off and OPSEC foreign sector. Faralried denied any of the allegations and speculations, stating "...I do have a plan for culture and it’s a return to monthly game nights." responding to a statement from another candidate. (More information in the election article) Finally, Another concern with the government is culture itself. No matter how many promotion any activity gets, Awareness and Engagement are two of the most important parts for an event to function, Awareness is the easiest, A constant proper annoncement and a DM reminder for a lot of the particpants while Engagement is a bit more tricker, some people are not interested in the said topic, or are just too busy, luckily there are solutions and its always about recognizing patterns. Look at the graph on what day each person is free and busy (Usually on the Weekends, making a weekly event more unpredictable.) and plan you're events on the day most people on average are free. And sometime during the census, make a multiple choice question to ask which game the citizens are most interested in. Solutions like the above can help step up for the events, while its up for the Minister of Events to decide, a group plan and foundation are always the key to sucess. Written by National Coraland of Fishery for The Social Reformer Election Seasons The Region That Has No Big Banks enters election week today, grappling with two challenges: how to balance cultural versus gameplay‑driven foreign affairs, and how to stem widespread burnout among citizens and the government. At stake is whether NBB should rebuild its identity around organic cultural exchanges, reviving Game Nights, ambassador embeds, and co‑produced media, or lean more heavily into strategic gameplay alliances that boost its status on the NationStates stage. Meanwhile, candidates across all races acknowledge that engagement has flagged: committees, events, and roleplay have slowed to a crawl, and any new leadership must reverse that trend. Culture vs. Gameplay Foreign Affairs. Faralried, the frontrunner for Prime Minister, argues that NBB’s next chapter requires deeper gameplay foreign affairs (GPFA). He envisions joining coalitions, forging military‑style treaties, and leveraging back‑channel deals so that NBB’s culture gains visibility through strategic influence. His supporters say this approach will “break the glass ceiling” on cultural reach: by first winning respect, and seats at the table, in large gameplay blocs, NBB can then export exhibitions, Yodcasts, and joint media projects to a broader audience. In contrast, nearly every other Prime Minister, Gine Caruttiva, Western Arba Fir, and The Washington Federation, supports a culture‑first foreign affairs (CFA) model. They warn that excessive GPFA leads to “empty” embassies, mission creep, and dilutes our community focus. Gine wants to revive inactive cultural partners and embed ambassadors in mid‑sized UCRs, while Warba emphasizes co‑producing creative events and making bilateral media ties. WashFed, a former PM and Minister of Culture, centers his campaign on large‑scale events like a six‑week SummerFest to anchor every diplomatic relationship in shared cultural programming. All three agree that rolling back purely symbolic gameplay treaties will free up time for more meaningful CFA projects. Burnout and Community Engagement. Across the ballot, veterans and newcomers alike cite burnout as the region’s biggest threat. Faralried proposes “question of the day” polls on the official message board, weekly government updates, and monthly in‑house game nights. He also pledges to streamline recruitment telegrams so that new nations feel personally welcomed rather than spammed by bots. Gine would slash bureaucratic hurdles by rewriting the constitution, lowering the bar for new MPs, and cutting event frequency to two or three “high‑impact” game nights per month, measures he believes will reignite participation without “overtaxing” residents. Warba’s platform zeroes in on reliability: a single, well‑publicized game night per month (with advance embassy notices), consistent Domestic Affairs polls, and a monthly census to keep leaders attuned to citizen sentiment. WashFed, meanwhile, leans on executive authority to mandate productivity: he vows that government dispatches and cultural events will outnumber “last‑minute” or canceled gatherings, reducing burnout by eliminating organizational chaos . Deputy Prime Minister Contenders. Okona, a newcomer but frontrunner in the DPM polls, champions personalized engagement and “casual VC hangouts” over formal events. As current Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs and a BLF general, she plans monthly “Undersecretary Reports” to demystify government work and regular shout‑outs for BLF victories to recruit liberators. The Kaverian, who began the cycle with momentum but has since dipped in polling, argues that CFA must remain NBB’s backbone: he proposes large, quarterly game nights instead of frequent, smaller ones, plus a “Weekly Wellness Weighting” to monitor burnout among officials. Rogue River offers a sharper critique of insider networks: if elected DPM, he would audit every cabinet role to fill “gaps,” and publish a monthly “Opposition Response Dispatch” to keep minority viewpoints alive. Though he trails Okona, Rogue’s platform seems the most direct challenge to entrenched leadership. Speaker of Parliament. Incumbent Flomonga is all but guaranteed reelection, polling above 85 percent. Having added over 15 new MPs and reestablished a Confirmation Committee this term, he plans to launch a formal mentorship track for new legislators and streamline the voting calendar to avoid last‑minute surprises. His steady leadership is credited with staving off burnout in Parliament itself; his only challenger, Shavo, who also runs for DPM, offers to combine the Speaker and DPM roles to heighten transparency, but few expect that dual office to break Flomonga’s commanding lead. Ultimately, NBB’s next leaders will be judged on their ability to reconcile culture and gameplay diplomacy, and to rebuild a sense of community without burning out the few volunteers who keep the region running. Voters seem poised to embrace Faralried’s strategic GPFA push at the top of the ticket, and Okona’s hands‑on approach to engagement at DPM; even so, the election’s outcome will hinge on whether these choices can reverse the region’s recent slide into inertia. Written by Mjau for The Social Reformer Domestic Affairs Update. Wow, another first! Hi everyone! The Democratic Disney States (DDS) here filling in for Western Arba Fir! WAF is busy currently so I will be delivering the DA update with a different perspective! Now let me come guide you to the Halls of the DA Ministry and give you an update on what’s been happening! The Domestic Affairs Ministry still remains very busy with activity! This month alone we got 9 new citizens! This is an increase from last month where we got 6 citizens. Earlier this month, we had another government approval poll with a stunning total of 31 respondents! The highest it’s ever been so far this term! The results in this government approval were a lot different than the previous government approval that happened. The lowest approval rating was 6.03 and all members of government except one went down. This showed that the citizens were heavily discontent with the government and the lowest approval rating in history of NBB. This approval rating showed the worst results in the history of NBB. They gave criticism and wanted change. Western Arba Fir (WAF) worked on accepting new citizens and updating our regional dispatches where he could! I personally worked on Polls and delivered the successful add-ons to the Polls: the Poll Chat. Which gives a more inside look on why this poll was picked, who made the suggestion of the poll, and the funny comedy that comes with the poll! National Coraland of Fishery (NCF) worked on delivering this past government approval poll and also working on this latest edition of The Social Reformer! That’s everything from the Domestic Affairs Ministry! Thank you for reading! Written by The Democratic Disney States for The Social Reformer Court Update The TRTHNBB Regional Court has issued three notable rulings in late May that touch on government transparency, compliance with court orders, and an unusual dual‐candidacy question. In each case, Chief Justice Mjau, the only Justice at this time, has made clear where the Constitution and statutory rules stand, and they’ve set strict deadlines and expectations for the Executive Branch and election officials. First, in Case No. CV‑2025‑008 (dated May 20, 2025), the court addressed the Executive Branch’s failure to comply with the Committee Public Voting Act, which Parliament passed on March 10 to ensure that every formal committee vote, whether held on-site or via Discord, is logged publicly within 48 hours. That log must include the committee name, proposal title, vote tally, individual member votes, and voting period. The court found that, between March 10 and mid‑May, two Cultural Affairs votes were only posted after inquiry and left out voting times, one Cultural Affairs vote went entirely unrecorded, four Foreign Affairs votes were missing, and no Domestic Affairs votes appeared at all. With all of those failures on the record, the court declared on May 20 that the Executive was in ongoing violation and ordered the retroactive publication, by May 27, of complete logs for those seven votes. Going forward, every committee vote must be posted on both the official Regional Message Board and the relevant Discord channel within 48 hours, containing all five required elements. To make sure this stick, the court also told the government to file weekly status reports for one month and monthly reports for three months, and added a general rule that any new law must be implemented fully within seven days of passage unless it explicitly says otherwise. When the May 27 deadline passed without a single one of those seven logs appearing, the court moved quickly on May 29 to issue an Order to Show Cause (still under CV‑2025‑008). In essence, Mjau said, “You’ve ignored a clear order, explain yourself or face contempt.” The Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, and the Ministers of Domestic Affairs, Foreign Affairs, and Cultural Affairs (now split into Roleplay and Events) were all directed to file a sworn declaration by June 7 at noon UTC. That declaration must detail why they missed the May 27 deadline, what steps they’ve taken to prepare the logs, and exactly when they’ll be fully compliant. Along with that declaration, they have to finally post all seven complete logs on both RMB and Discord. If they fail to do either, explain or post, the court warned it could hold them in contempt and even consider removing them from office. Separately, in Case No. CV‑2025‑009 (dated May 29, 2025), the court tackled a constitutional question over “dual candidacy.” On May 18, a citizen named Shavo filed to run for Deputy Prime Minister, and on May 19 he also filed to run for Speaker of Parliament, something never before seen in TRTHNBB. Another candidate in this election, Rogue River, challenged this on May 21, arguing that Articles IV (separation of powers) and IX (election rules) might implicitly forbid one person from campaigning for both offices at once. Article IX does call for “three separate elections” (Speaker, Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister) with the same eligibility criteria, but it doesn’t say you can’t run for more than one. After reviewing the Constitution’s plain language, structure, and the checks‑and‑balances already built in (including no‑confidence votes, impeachment hooks, and so on), the court concluded that nothing to be found in Articles IV, V, or IX expressly or implicitly bans a dual run. Consequently, Mjau ordered the Governor and election officials to certify Shavo on both ballots for the June 1, 2025, elections, finalize and publish the candidate rosters and sample ballots reflecting that, and foreclose any post‑election challenge grounded solely on his dual candidacy (though other challenges, eligibility, procedural irregularities, etc., are still allowed within five days of the relevant election event). In short, Shavo can appear on both ballots, and anyone trying to knock him off one just because he’s on the other will have their challenge summarily denied. Together, these three decisions show how firmly the court is enforcing both transparency and adherence to TRTHNBB’s Constitution. The government is on notice that committee‑vote records must be published promptly and completely, or officials risk contempt. And when it comes to interpreting election rules, the court won’t invent restrictions that aren’t spelled out in the text. Readers should watch for those upcoming status reports (or lack thereof) on committee votes, and keep an eye on the June 1 ballots to see how dual candidacy plays out in practice. Written by Flomonga for The Social Reformer Comic Strip Break For years and years in 2024, America the Greater pervaded The Region That Has No Big Banks. Steady and trustworthy as ever, it held the region intact in moments of quiet and activity. When things grew difficult, America the Greater stood by, enacting laws, spearheading new voices, plugging gaps without ever asking for a round of applause. But even the greatest of giants grows tired under time's weight. And so, in quiet resolve, the nation resolved to retreat, not in victory, but in peace. It was not an exodus hailed with blare. No messages thundered across the Dispatch Board. Instead, there was a gentle passing. In its last official move, America the Greater turned to Germany. Germany was different. It was a land of order and tradition, where life moved slowly and where expectations were fewer. To one who had carried a region around shoulders, it was a land where quiet was more powerful than titles ever were. It was not ambition that attracted America the Greater to it but a desire for quiet. Nobody in Germany demanded policy reports or cultural initiatives. No votes to count, no citizens to inform. Just routine, and the blessing of being present, without the headache of being responsible. Back in The Region That Has No Big Banks, things went on nonetheless. The younger generation picked up where the old statesman dropped off. Reforms were implemented, events were organized, and the culture of community went strong. From afar, America the Greater now watches, no longer with passion, but with peace. The future lies ahead for others. For itself, it has chosen a quieter place, where history can recline and rest. Not vanished. Just reposed. Foreign Affairs Updates and Embassy Highlights Logical stimulus became the Editor-in-chief of The Western Post, The West Pacific’s own regional newspaper, and TWP signed a treaty with The League and Concord As reported by Okona. In The Rejected Realms, an election was held and Toerana was re-elected as the WA Delegate. Congratulations! As reported by Okona. The North Pacific held a general election, with Chipoli being re-elected Delegate, Halsoni getting re-elected Vice Delegate, and Dotopolis getting elected Speaker! As reported by Okona. Starlight signed a treaty with Ridgefield, started a new roleplay, and has started elections for their government. As reported by Okona. BLF FOREVER. RAIDERS NEVER. In a massive and sudden momentum shift May 2025 became the most dominant month for defenderdom in history. With not 1 but 2 record breaking liberations happening back to back. Firstly in early May the NPO, LWU and Carcassonne hit Lonia Kreptia Llor. Piling the region to 146 endorsements, an amount that had never been liberated previously. However on the 4th update defenderdom made a statement. Trailing by about 40 endorsements, over 100 liberators made the decisive jump to liberate the region with 212 total endorsements. In total across 4 updates over 286 individuals participated in at least 1 jump. The largest liberation by total endorsement count by far. However statements like this are just that, statements. And without consistency they quickly become little more than stories. However defenders remained vigilant, ready for the next opportunity, and to prove it was not a flash in the pan but something sustainable In mid May, The Black Hawks, along with their overlords The Brotherhood of Malice and the rest of raider unity, hit Dystopian Utopia piling the region to over 100 endorsements by major update. It would not be enough. In what is now the largest single jump in defender history, 154 nations jumped with 137 verified endorsements at update. Once again statements are just statements. They don’t become a paradigm shift without consistency. Defenders and their independent allies need to keep the energy again and again in future liberation efforts to entrench control of the R/D battlefield. However these efforts are promising, there is clearly a lot of energy within defenderdom to win. And for the first time in a long time fear is setting in within raider unity. Fear that them going all in on their ability to hold raids and toss everything else to the side may be dwindling and joining their WA presence in irrelevance. Fear that defenders may take their crown jewel of Osiris. The future is promising. Written by Faralried for The Social Reformer NationStates recently experienced a significant internal controversy involving the removal of a longtime General Assembly Secretariat (GenSec) member, Separatist Peoples, which later escalated into a broader crisis of trust and leadership. The situation began when Separatist Peoples privately informed site leadership of a need for a prolonged leave due to deeply personal and serious real-life circumstances. Under existing staff policy, Secretariat members unable to serve for extended periods, typically longer than a year, are expected to step down so that GenSec can operate. With this in mind, the remaining members of GenSec were informed to initiate the procedure for finding a replacement in accordance with procedures used in analogous situations within staff teams. However, Separatist Peoples publicly objected to being replaced, and subsequently "threatened" to leak internal staff conversations, an action considered a violation of the site’s operational security (OPSEC) policies according to United Calanworie. As a result, he was removed from the panel, and his account was marked for deletion, with staff citing noncompliance with the Code of Conduct and threats to staff confidentiality. This decision, though grounded in existing rules, quickly sparked backlash from the wider community, many of whom were unaware of the full personal context and viewed the action as excessively harsh. In the days that followed, the furor intensified. Two of the moderators who were involved in communicating the decision, United Calanworie and Refuge Isle, resigned from their positions, citing the emotional challenges of enforcing policies that had little room for compassion. Sedgistan, the Site Director, also offered to step down, acknowledging that his leadership approach may have contributed to an overly rigid handling of the situation. His resignation was ultimately declined by administrators, who felt his role remained vital. Meanwhile, all remaining GenSec members resigned in protest of how the matter was handled, leaving the Secretariat temporarily defunct and requiring moderators to assume its responsibilities until replacements could be found. Amid ongoing community outcry, site leadership reversed the account ban and deletion order, recognizing that strict adherence to OPSEC policy had come at the cost of compassion. Administrators admitted that the situation was mishandled and pledged to learn from it Contributers to the problem were a breakdown in communication, tensions among staff internally, and the challenge of reconciling staff confidentiality with the demands of openness and compassion according to site admins. In its wake, staff leadership pledged reforms such as revising training to more fully equip moderators to handle emotionally charged circumstances, making clear expectations regarding OPSEC in exceptional personal emergencies, and enhancing communication procedures for sensitive releases. The crisis brought to the surface underlying structural issues regarding the response and engagement of stressed staff teams; yet, it also instigated deep reflection and a recommitment to empathy as a core volunteer staff culture. Though trust between the community and staff was comprimised, the leadership of the site has made a clear commitment to reconstructing relationships with more compassion, clarity, and accountability. NBB as a community is great and the things I can do as an NBB citizen are really fun. As for why I want to lead the region, its[sic] a combination of I think I am presently the most capable of carrying out the position. As well as I would like to keep NBB a great community and take it to new heights. NBB has been an amazing home and its[sic] only right in my mind I seek to make it a better place. Faralried: 2) Well as said previously I do think I can make a great difference as PM in carrying our legacy while also continuing to grow and develop.As[sic] for how my previous expierence[sic] integrates with being a PM, I believe it integrates very well. I have expierence[sic] leading as I am the commanding officer for JEFF. I was an RPer for several years and have the expierence[sic] necessary to help there. I am our regions primary manual recruiter and integrator. Being someone who joined the community and later the region because of our events I have a good understanding of what makes them tick and look foward[sic] to bringing them back to prominance[sic]. And finally I have been a successful MOFA These past 7 months. Faralried: 4) The most challenging NS position I have faced thus far as a leader was overhauling JEFF command to deal with a significantly more amount of people within the faction. Simply put our old command structure could not effectivly[sic] command most of the faction. I overcame them by really looking at everything and rebuilt the command structure from the ground up. We consolidated the main members of the faction and brought more people in with the expressed purpose of increasing our outreach to those faction members we were previously missing. The end result was a faction that cracked under pressure becoming a faction that took the Horsemens best shot and showed enough resilience to maintain a very impressive score. Faralried: 6) I think ultimatly[sic] it comes down to having a good sense for whats[sic] more appropriate for the situation. Sometimes decisiveness is required and you won't have time to get some imput[sic] and your energy is making sure whatever plan you had at first works. Other times moving more delibertly[sic] and getting advice along the way is the smarter option. At the end of the day I trust my instincts and can handle the urgent situations and I will put in a capable cabinet to help when time is more of a luxory[sic]. Faralried: 7) It is not really a secret that I am not a fan of the Committee Public Voting Act, but in any case we are a democracy and I have to do what I have to do sometimes. No real use in making a bigger deal of something than it is. Faralried: 9) In a couple years, I imagine NBB as a larger region. Hopefully with around 200 endorsements. With lots of strong friendships with other regions. Would love to see the BLF continue to grow into hopefully the largest defender org as well. Faralried: 10) I have 2 main priorities for the first 30 days, filling the court and updating our welcome and recruitment TGs and refining our integration process. Implementing the first is perhaps easier said then[sic] done but I have some ideas about who to maybe appoint. Hopefully 2 of them will accept. The latter is a bit more straightforward. We can reach out to our friends for what they use for recruitment as inspiration and ask what return rate they get. From their[sic] we can have a solid idea of what is working and what is not and tinker with ours. Additionally setting up a multi step process for integration I believe is the best bet. Likely going from the welcome TG to some sort of interaction, either a dispatch welcome ping or an rmb message. Followed by a follow up TG a few days later. Faralried: 12) I have a wealth of expierences[sic] from a very long time on the site, yet I still log in with the energy and fire of a much younger player. I believe that combination is a very successful one that will allow me to perform at a high level as PM. Gine caruttiva: 1) I play nationstates because I think it's a great way to experience a community, and depending on your community, you even learn how a democracy works. I want to lead this region because I believe that the region that I once joined years ago isn't what it used to be - a happy, united community, that would host gamenights weekly. I want us to get back to this inviting, friendly feeling. Positive vibes :P Gine caruttiva: 2) As the PM, you are the captain of a ship. And I think I am ready to be that captain, after trying countless times. I have authored a great amount of bills, and I've been in countless different government positions, ranging from the Minister of Defense to the Deputy Prime Minister. I've also learned a lot, especially from the "Old Guards" like NUCL and ATG, and they've given me great advice that I can now take on my journey. Gine caruttiva: 3) My personal principle has always been leading by example. Being PM isn't like being a CEO of a company, it's like being the Head of a Scout group. You need to set a good example, and you need to work constructively with your Cabinet, otherwise, one will be overwhelmed by the work. I also believe that every opinion, no matter how different, should be considered. If I get elected, I plan on working with the other candidates, to apply their ideas into my vision for the region. Gine caruttiva: 5) I don't really have a specific NS achievement; I'm proud of the little changes I brought to the region, especially in the context of our democracy - giving the DPM more say in forming a cabinet, mandating committees to be transparent about their voting procedures, making elected officials only impeachable by the people, etc. These little steps slowly form into something big, and real change emerges from this collective effort. Gine caruttiva: 6) I always keep an open mind. In situations that require quick input, I would open a discussion about the specific topic, listen to the opinions, and one of the options might benefit the region in the long run. This information, combined with the advice of (in this example) the cabinet, would allow me to make a quick decision. Once I make this decision, I would explain my reasoning to ensure everyone is on the same page. Gine caruttiva: 7) I think people are well aware that I regularly disagree with the government and/or its policy. But these disagreements are handled in a civil matter, through outreach, discussion and compromise. Good examples are the countless debates we had, for example, the Bill Formatting Act. I argued that it is an important addition to bills, as it makes it easier to recognise key information. ATG argued that we don't need it at all, at that it only hindered new members from writing bills because bills got rejected because of their date formatting. We compromised, and wrote an amendment that changed the Date Formatting to a neutral format. While this is a very shortened version, it is the perfect example of democracy at work. Gine caruttiva: 8) Balancing these two can be challenging, though I am confident in my ability of time management. Fortunately, I will have a lot of free time next term that I can spend on nationstates. I usually only burn out as a result of extreme events in my real life, and I'm actively learning to manage these more effectively as well. Gine caruttiva: 10) My very first priority will be creating a cabinet, a mix of old and new; the experience from the old, and the fresh ideas from the new. I would also re-organise our government structure, and begin implementing my promises, especially on our culture side. We'd also start building the frameworks for the new constitution I'm planning, and implement weekly updates to our people regarding the government progress and the status of my election promises. Gine caruttiva: 12) I think that my resilience (or commitment) is one of my strongest qualities, highlighted by the countless amounts of elections I've stood in. And again, my ability to work in a team and resolve conflicts demonstrate my ability to work constructively, bringing real change to this region, while respecting and listening to other opinions. I believe this combination of persistence, collaboration and leadership sets me apart as the best candidate for Prime Minister. 3. The Washington Federation — Asynchronous The Washington Federation: I first played NationStates because I found interest in it after having been introduced to it through Drew Durnil. I ended up staying around because I found a nice little community here, and I want to lead this community (again) because I want the best for it and its future. The Washington Federation: That I am not entirely sure of, you may just have to see how once I am elected. The Washington Federation: The challenge with leading a team is that you have to make sure that all goes to plan. If you can assure that, then the challenge should wane. My own perspective on such a matter is thus. The Washington Federation: Any and all input will be taken, as cooperation is a key part of leading a government. However, should something need to be done in a manner either short or of the utmost, time would not be of the essence for compromise. [sic] The Washington Federation: My main grievance with the current admin is regarding the sudden halt of community events after I was dismissed from my previous position, the reasoning for it being related to that express purpose of halting the progress of events. I get it, burnout is an issue you will have to tackle one way or another, but putting a stop to regional events isn’t the way to solve it. [spoiler=8. How do you plan to balance the responsibilities of this role with your real-life commitments and NationStates burnout potential?] The Washington Federation: In two years, I can see the region become an utter powerhouse within NationStates, even despite our size. Two years prior, we were only just starting to get back into the larger realm of foreign affairs, with that point in time even being we started our first game nights; if this momentum can carry for the next two years into 2027, I can say that I would be proud of how far the region has come since joining in 2020. The Washington Federation: Let me list my reasons off: I’m the one candidate that actually wants to tackle the activity issue seen in the previous administration. Motivation is key to success, you know? We can utilize the relatively unique position we have within our sphere of NationStates to propagate a cultural foreign affairs (CFA) strategy, one which we could make returns from should it see proper use and planning. With enough time and effort, if I promise something — say an event — will be happening, you can be fairly sure that it will happen. 4. Western Arba Fir — Live Western Arba Fir: Being the leader of this region, ever since I've gotten here back in late December 2023 I wanted to be involved in the Regional Government. When I first got here we were ratifying our new Constitution and the first thing I did was read through it and vote to ratify it. I believe being PM fits with my previous experience as I have a good amount of experience across multiple ministries. I have Foreign Affairs experience as my first position was a FA MO and I've been on the FA Committee ever since. I was DPM where I was second in command of the region and learned about leadership. I've been working in the Ministry of Domestic Affairs for the past 9 months (4 as a Minor Officer and 5 as the Minister). Western Arba Fir: A couple months ago at school for science we did a STEM fair and were put in groups of 3 for it and I was kind of the leader of it. We faced a lot of challenges mainly because the other 2 were girls (I'm a boy) and we all didn't really know each other well, also the instructions for the project were really confusing. We overcame these challenges by getting to know each other better, meeting up a few times at each other's houses, comparing each others strengths and weaknesses. To overcome the confusing instructions we just read them together and tried to understand them and if we didn't we just emailed our teacher. Western Arba Fir: A time I disagreed with NBB leadership or policy is when about a month ago when DDS was on LOA and I was in charge of polls, I ran "Who is your favorite Minor Officer?", during the running of the poll, a government member pinged me in the cabinet saying that they didn't like the poll as it might of[sic] made people upset and make them too competitive. I disagreed as no one has publicly got mad about it or talked to me privately, though it seemed like most of the government agreed with them. I handled it by allowing that there would be no more person v. person polls anymore since a majority of the government wanted it that way. Western Arba Fir: Well the Summer is the least busy part of the year for me RL so that helps. But most importantly you need good people around you, before this campaign I asked some former PMs and some Government officials for advice and a lot of them said you need a good cabinet around you with people you can agree with and you can work good[sic] with so that you won't need to do a majority of the work and get burned out. You also need to have a good DPM so that if you get too busy with RL Commitments you can have a good DPM to step up and lead the region while your[sic] busy. Western Arba Fir: I see the region in 2 years as being a UCR that has good events, is welcoming to everyone (except fascist, homophobic people, etc), one of the best defender military in NS, a good RP, and overall chill region. I believe that my role in that would mainly be focusing on events as that in my opinion one (if not the) biggest issue in the region at the moment, as mentioned in the Events part of my agenda that I want to focus on the quality not the quantity of events. Western Arba Fir: First off I would appoint a cabinet of people that I know will be great Ministers and have them get to work in their respective ministries. My concrete priorities will be getting RP back on track and focusing on events. During the first 30 days of my term I will be working with the Ministry of RP and Ministry of Events extremely closely while keeping an eye on DA and FA making sure nothing goes wrong in those 2 Ministries. I hope to improve events and get RP back on track ASAP if elected. Once those 2 are done I can focus on more smaller[sic] issues. Western Arba Fir: I believe I am the best candidate because I have been working in this region's government for almost a year and a half and have proved that I am committed to our region fully. Other candidates (not trying to call anyone out, as I love the other candidates and I believe that they will all be great PM's[sic] if elected) have not been working in this government as long as I have (Wash Fed. is the only exception though he was dismissed from the government about a month and a half ago). 5. Silves — Asynchronous Silves: I play NationStates because I enjoy creating—not just nations, but ideas, stories, and systems that bring people together. Leading the region feels like a natural step because I’ve already been doing that kind of work through Silves: founding and managing projects that blend worldbuilding with community-building. I want to help bring that same energy and purpose to TRTHNBB. Silves: The PM role appeals to me because it’s a chance to help shape the region’s direction—not just administratively, but creatively and culturally too. In Silves, I started projects like the Silves News Network and a detailed system of districts and lore. Each of those took planning, teamwork, and follow-through, and I think that kind of structured creativity is exactly what a PM should bring. Silves: Everything I’ve done in Silves—from writing legislation to launching a media network—has reflected my core values: collaboration, clarity, and consistency. As PM, I’d apply those principles by making regional priorities clear, listening actively, and building systems that allow others to contribute meaningfully. Silves: Starting Silves News Network was a real leadership test. I had to coordinate content, build an identity for the network, and engage the community to contribute. The hardest part was turning a cool idea into something people wanted to read and continue to keep up with. I overcame that by being persistent—posting regular updates, asking for input, and keeping momentum even when things were quiet. Silves: The Federation of Silves itself is my proudest achievement. I created a nation, gave it a culture and history, built out a federal district system, and started engaging with regional politics. It’s taught me that no matter how big your vision is, it’s the small, consistent actions that bring it to life. Silves: There were times I felt like the region needed more direction or more energy. Instead of complaining, I started building—writing proposals, starting initiatives, sharing what I’d built in Silves. It was my way of saying, “Here’s what we could do.” I’ve learned that the best way to disagree is to offer something better. Silves: I see TRTHNBB as a region known for its creativity, activity, and solid governance—where people stay because they want to be here. My role would be to help create the infrastructure for that: clear communication, fun and purposeful projects, and room for new voices to grow into leaders themselves. Silves: In the first 30 days, I’d start with listening: hosting a Q/A to hear what people care about most. Then I’d work to jumpstart key initiatives—whether it’s a cultural festival, legislative clean-up, or building stronger interregional ties. I’d go off what I'd like to call the Silves Model: get a vision going, break it down into achievable steps, and invite people into the process. Silves: In one NationStates discussion, another user and I had very different views on regional direction. We didn’t mesh personally, but we agreed on a goal. I kept our conversations focused, stayed respectful, and let our shared work speak for itself. That’s what matters in leadership—knowing when to set ego aside for progress. After an exceptionally long and demanding month, it is important to pause and acknowledge what has transpired. This month, while filled with busyness, trials, and even moments of sadness, also carries with it a sense of significance—it marks the thirtieth edition of our journey together. Such a milestone should ordinarily be a cause for celebration, but in many ways, the weight of recent events has reshaped our community and reminded us of the fragility of leadership, commitment, and unity. The resignations, departures, and controversies that took place within our region this past month stands out as one of the defining moments of this period. Leadership transitions are never easy, especially when they happen unexpectedly or under difficult circumstances. For many, the departure was not merely the conclusion of a chapter in administration but also the loss of a familiar guiding voice. It stirred emotions of uncertainty and reflection, forcing us to confront questions about stability, continuity, and the way forward. In the wake of this resignation, what might have otherwise been a smooth celebration of endurance and growth became instead an opportunity for sober introspection. Even in this moment of adversity and sorrow, though, strength is possible. Hardship has the ability to instill strength within a community, and the past four weeks has surely molded all of us. Where once there was discouragement, solidarity was born; where once was doubt, a greater sense of allegiance toward our group vision was forged. It is not simply longevity then that the thirtieth edition denotes - it is endurance through tribulation and assertion of identity within adversity. We move forward not with resentment, but with gratitude for what has been built and determination for what lies ahead. The legacy of leadership remains a foundation upon which new growth can occur. Though this month will be remembered as one of difficulty and transition, it will also be remembered as the moment in which our community demonstrated its capacity to endure, adapt, and ultimately emerge stronger.

From the President's Desk It is with sincere regret that we announce that today, September the 12th, 2025 at 05:43 AM Poukslandic Local Time, president Ramaka Melyta has died due to a heart attack. At 4:20 AM The president was rushed to the hospital wing of the Marbled Palace where medical staff attempted to combat the problem, but unfortunately could not; he is the first president in Poukslandic history who passed away in office, dedicating his life to serving our nation. The president died surrounded by family, friends and cabinet members. A special nation-wide service will be held on September the 14th with a private funeral held at the Marbled Palace. At this very moment, vice-president Kyene Tarbo is being sworn in as president under emergency clause PEC-7 of the home constitution. We ask to all our neighboring nations a small bit of patience while power is transferred between members of the presidential table for all diplomatic and transnational matters. We are working hard at making sure this transition of power is swift and efficient. For final words, we want to remember and reflect back on president Melyta's political career. An outspoken lawyer from Sveidy who exercised his profession and love for the law for decades, fighting for Poukslandic citizens, home and abroad. We remember his achievements of overseeing the Kravan reunification and control over the Zalarian islands during his tenure. Our country has lost one of its finest men, and we will remember him. The Party congratulates all workers of the world with the International Day of Labor Solidarity! Class struggle has been going on since the first human enslaved another of his kin, and shows no signs of ending soon. The labor movement is what guaranteed the workers many things we take for granted: an 8-hour work day, weekends, paid vacations, maternity leave, prohibition of child labor, reading the full list would exhaust anyone. All of this was achieved through blood. The ruling classes have no interest in relaxing exploitation, all they need is profit. Thus, Russian workers revolted in 1917, violently breaking down the oppressive regime. Newly established government under Lenin has installed world's best labor protections, and Western bourgeoisie, terrified of sharing the fate of the Romanov family, granted their workers some concessions, among which were the aforementioned rights. Today, those rights are being slowly but surely retracted: in the USA, 13 states are seeking to weaken child labor laws, and so-called "platform work", which lets the capitalists completely evade any responsibility, is on the rise globally. This is, again, a product of class struggle, and the oppressors are winning. To change this, we must follow Lenin's call: Workers of the world, unite!
