Chancellor Walter Traeger, today, took the step of calling upon the National Assembly to repeal a 150-year-old law that legalized slavery within the Reich. Despite mild opposition, the repeal came shortly after midnight. Traeger signed the Act and immediately emancipated all enslaved people held within the Ruhr. The law was a long-standing result of the war with the long-lost nation of Arisinga. All captive ethnic Arisingans have been freed and are expected to emigrate by way of the Reich Settlers Society. Fewer than 15,000 slaves were captive but now all are free. Arisingan identity remains strictly prohibited by law.
