The Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE), at 28,000 square miles, is one of the largest intact temperate-zone ecosystems on Earth today, encompassing Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. It is one of the world's foremost natural laboratories in landscape ecology and geology and is a world-renowned recreational site.

Greater Yellowstone’s natural diversity is essentially intact, retaining or restoring its full historic complement of wildlife species—unique in the wildlands of the contiguous 48 states. Habitats range from high alpine areas to sagebrush, hydrothermal, forests, meadows, and other habitat types. All of these are connected, including linkages provided by streams and rivers that course through changing elevations.

The Native Peoples of Yellowstone Valley

Okay... caught up on embassy requests. Sorry to all those I missed. The snow gets really, really deep in the GYE this time of year.

The Native Peoples of Yellowstone Valley

A belated welcome to EtOH. We've been busy trying to open the roads for summer! :)

The Protectorate of Friendly Park Rangers

I hope everyone has enjoyed our summer here in the high country. As autumn comes, we'll be preparing our roads for winter closures. Amenities and lodging in the lower elevations will remains available. We are requiring masks in indoor settings and continue to highly encourage vaccinations or test weekly.

The Protectorate of Friendly Park Rangers

Do not approach a grizzly bear and her cubs! I thought everyone knew that. Four days of jail time is getting off easy compared to getting mauled by a mother griz. It's not only dangerous, but irresponsible because that could necessitate euthanizing the bear and orphaning the cubs. A bear can run as fast as 30 mph, far slower than the fastest human, so don't think you are invincible.

The Native Peoples of Yellowstone Valley

Wait, we had zombies? I thought they were tourists from the east coast. (⊗⌓⊗)
Good bye and hello again, EtOH.

The Native Peoples of Yellowstone Valley

I'd much rather have the bison go to indigenous tribes than be slaughtered. But even more, I'd rather bison replaced dumb, weak cattle. I guess certain Americans would rather kill what they can't control, eh?

The Protectorate of Friendly Park Rangers

We have wolverines!

The Native Peoples of Yellowstone Valley

Sorry to see some embassies close, and happy to see some established. We accept them here and understand when some have to go.

The Protectorate of Friendly Park Rangers

Due to severe flooding from rapidly melting snow packs, torrential rains, and power outages, we've got to shut down all entrances to the park. We are working to deal with this emergency as efficiently as possible. Please be safe and do not attempt to enter flooded areas and roadways.

The Native Peoples of Yellowstone Valley

Hang in there. We're opening up the southern entrance. We should have the others opened up in about a week, give or take.

Anyone still doubting whether climate change is real?
