Palace of the Republic, Plorvex The Republic was in crisis. The sovereign was back. Presdient Zulari Emektesh looked out through the large palace windows on to the ancient metropolis of Plorvex. Down on the streets, people were going on with their lives as if nothing had happened. She saw kids playing mageball on the streets, merchants selling exotic goods from the lands of Orium and elders relaxing in the warm-but-not-too-hot sun of the Riassi summer. It filled her with sadness, but also a great anger, that all of this, the peaceful lives the peoples of Rias had created, was at threat. During the night, Zulari had received an ominous message from the sovereign: Surrender or get destroyed. The Tschevian Magical Association had fallen, and now the rest of Helios was on the chopping block. Zulari had tried to contact the association to confirm the rumors – it didn't hurt to double check – but she hadn't recieved an answer. As a last effort, she had contacted the former Riassi member of the Association, the old human wizard Ruewa Ytrikai, and fortunately he told her that Kelea, his young elven successor, hadn't been at the Association when it was attacked and was currently heading to Plorvex. It was a big relief that at least one member had survived. Zulari called the leaders of all parliamentary parties to the palace. She had to inform them of the threat Rias was up against and she needed to know what to do now. All those years ago, all kingdoms in Rias had merged to form the Republic because of the same threat they were up against now, so it only made sense to include everyone in the decisionmaking. --- --- --- The room was silent. Everything you could hear was the faint sound of the streets below and the sound of coffee slowly dripping of the meeting table. One of the party leaders had spilled it from the chock. There wasn't much to discuss. All leaders agreed to take part in a a new government of national unity aimed at protecting Rias at all cost. They had decided to stand up to the sovereign, just like their ancestors had all those years ago. They wouldn't surrender. Not today, not tomorrow, not in their lifetimes. Rias was scared. Rias was unprepared. But the Riassis were ready to defend their homeland to their last breath if needed. --- --- --- --- --- --- Southern outskirts of Plorvex Kelea Eritor, the Riassi member of the Tschevian Magical Association, had felt the fall of the Association. When it happened, she immediately contacted her master to see if he had information on survivors, but he didn't know anything. Knowing that the return of the Sovereign was imminent, she sped up her travel to Plorvex. The government would find out what had happened at any moment, and Kelea wanted to be there to assist them as much as she could. When Kelea entered through the city gates, all the activity almost overwhelmed her. She thought the government would have told the citizens of the threat by now. She worried that something bad had happened, but hoped that she was just early. When she got to The Palace of the Republic, however, the places was completely locked down. The windows had been closed and guards were on high alert. She did not struggle to imagine why that was. ( |

"What Do We Do Now?" Seventeen days after the great attack by the practitioners of forbidden magic, the Maulians, on the Tschevian Magic Association—an attack that ended in its destruction—and the return of The Sovereign... The Sovereign and his army quickly conquered the entire Kingdom of Freistóia, destroying its capital. However, the kingdom's leaders surrendered and agreed to aid the Maulians in their campaign toward the capital of the Kingdom of Helios, the great city of Altiria, on the plains of His army has already conquered the entire northeastern region of the former empire, and now it will continue its campaign to reclaim his empire. If he is not stopped now, his next step will be the conquest of all Albastru... --- --- --- --- Zapádia, Western Region. The great mage Elyndra, the member of the Magic Council, Drael, and the magic apprentice Kael. Seventeen days after arriving in Zapádia, they were welcomed by a village of Orsans, where they remained while the great mage recovered her strength and Drael slowly regained consciousness and recovered from the wounds he suffered during the battle. Kael, wearing winter clothes he had made himself with the help of the Orsans, entered a cabin carrying a basket of medicine and an ancient grimoire of healing magic. After entering, he removed his hood and placed the basket on a pile of hay where Drael lay. Suddenly, he noticed that one of the Orsans was sitting beside Drael, quietly watching over him. Kael walked over and gently patted the great Orsan on the head. By now, the creature had become one of his closest friends. Kael: – (Sigh...) I don't know what I would have done without you... All of this is... No... I can't cry now... Not again... Lyra... Professor Liora... Ibinos... Trombaforte... Even Yuri... I never wanted any of this to happen... It's so unfair... After that, he embraced the Orsan, pulled his hood back over his head, and quietly left the cabin, leaving only the Orsan and Drael inside. The great bear lay down beside the Eldren and gave Drael's face a huge lick with its enormous tongue. Moments later, Drael's eyes suddenly flew open after days of unconsciousness. Drael: – AAAAAAAH!! WHAT?!? Wh-What's happening...? Wait...! ZERAKH?!? ELYNDRA?!? ...AND WHAT ARE YOU?!? The Orsan became excited to see him awake and happily licked Drael's face several more times before running out of the cabin. A few seconds later, it returned alongside the legendary elf, Elyndra. Drael: – Oh... Elyndra! You're here! said the Eldren, relieved and overjoyed. Elyndra: – So... you've finally awakened. Tell me... what do you remember? Drael: – Straight to the point, huh? Well... When the trio broke into the secret chamber, and then that happened... Drael presses his hands against the scar left by Eldros's wound. – And then I remember that demoness cutting a demon child's wrist and... No... That didn't happen, did it? Elyndra: – Yes... Somehow, they managed to bring The Sovereign back... Drael: – No... No, no... And what do we do now? Here... Where is here? And the other Council members? Did they do NOTHING?!? Elyndra: – I used a portal, and we ended up here, in Zapádia, by accident. Besides that, Valtherion and everyone else who was in the secret chamber died... Except for us and The Sovereign. The conversation is interrupted when the same Orsan from before enters the cabin with another Orsan, alongside Kael. Kael: – Hey, Elyndra. Can you believe they dragged me all the way to... Drael?!? You're awake! Oops... Council Magic Member, the great mage Drael, you're awake! Drael is startled by Kael's presence and tries to reach for his wand, but can't find it. He then tries to improvise, reaching for a wooden branch fixed to the wall. But Elyndra quickly notices his intention and shoots him a terrifying glare, making him stop and wait. Elyndra: – Kael, I know you've helped a great deal, but I need to speak with Drael completely alone. Kael: – Oh... Yes, of course... A bit disheartened, he leaves the cabin along with the Orsans. Drael remains silent for a few seconds. Drael: – Why did you bring that demon here, Elyndra? It was because of him that... Elyndra: – He's just a child. And besides, he was unconscious. He doesn't even know it himself. Drael: – What?! What?!? Don't tell me that, Elyndra! You're going to let a demon stay here?! Elyndra: – You know very well, Drael. Drael: – But, after all of this... Can I still trust demons? Elyndra: – By the way, don't tell him about this. If anyone asks anything, just say he's a half-beast, nothing more. Understood? Drael: – ... Elyndra: – Do you understand? Drael: – Yes... "Great mage" Elyndra. Elyndra: – Excellent. In two days, we'll head toward the nearest portal, south of Urkhuz. By now, The Sovereign must be gathering his forces. We need to reach |
"WhatDo We Do Now?" (Part 3) The Sovereign's army drew ever closer to Altiria. All that remained was to cross the Ossipak Mountains through the region of Facing the countless Maulian legions, the Sovereign reorganized his forces. His army had grown far too vast to be commanded by a single leader, and on that day new generals were appointed, each placed at the head of their own army to lead the coming invasion. Bellum, the War. Sylvara, the Plague. Yuri/Karselo, the Chimera. Azakel, the Void. Ignivar, the Irony. Front of the Maulian Army The newly appointed generals marched at the head of the army. Before them walked the Sovereign; behind them stretched the endless legions. Ignivar cleared his throat, breaking the silence. Ignivar: – Well... so, everyone, what do we do now? No one answered. Ignivar let out an exaggerated sigh and walked over to Azakel, lightly poking him on the shoulder. Ignivar: – Are you all just going to ignore me? Hey, Azakel, what's your hobby? I don't know... books, music, maybe even dancing? Come on, my friend. Azakel continued walking, his eyes fixed straight ahead without even turning his head. Azakel: – ... Ignivar: – Seriously? You're just going to leave me hanging like that? He then turned toward Bellum, who was walking a few steps ahead, his broad shoulders swaying with every heavy stride. Ignivar: – What about you, Bellum? Bellum: – Hm? What? Ignivar: – Do you have any hobbies? Bellum: – Hobbies? Ignivar: – Yeah! Something you enjoy doing to pass the time. Bellum let out a short, gravelly laugh. Bellum: – War. It is the pinnacle of existence—the force that has driven Albastru since the beginning and will continue to do so forever. It is one of life's natural laws. Ignivar: – Ah, war! Sounds like a lot of fun for you, then. Good for you, my friend. A few steps behind them, Sylvara spoke without bothering to come any closer. Sylvara: – It's nothing but meaningless destruction. Something terrible. At best... a necessary evil. Bellum stopped in the middle of his stride and turned to face her. The other generals kept marching; only Ignivar stopped beside them, watching with curiosity. Bellum: – Meaningless? Terrible?! Sylvara, do you even hear yourself? War is one of the pillars of existence. Without it, there would be no glory in battle, no violence to forge everything we are. Sylvara: – You only say that because you spent decades oppressing Aramya and the North. Have you ever stopped to think about the other side? Bellum: – War is good for both sides. It is natural. Saying war is evil is like saying water is harmful. What you're saying makes no sense, old witch. Sylvara: – What? That comparison doesn't even make sense! Ignivar raised both hands, trying to calm them down. Ignivar: – Hey, everyone! Let's stop arguing and keep walking. Remember, we're all friends here! Sylvara: – What? Of course we're not. Where did you even get that idea? Bellum: – I agree with the old witch. (OOC: All this information is already public and they will arrive in a week |
From the Skies The Heavenly Army stood silently, a row of silver armor stretching across the clouds, their shadows cast like ink across the ground. General Man Zu and Riu Tao stood side by side, heading the armor aboard their phantom horses, beasts of the black smoke and wind. Normally, the soldiers would be dispersed among the heavens, guarding the emporer or simply lounging in the springs of Ciu Miu. But not today. Today, the whole army stood. Ready to fight. Ready to die. The Sovereign, the largest threat ever seen by the entire heavens and hells, had returned. The chaos Sun Wukong had ensued all those years ago would be child's play compared to the Sovereign. His resurrection spelled doom for all, mortal or god. He must be stopped, no matter what. Dawn, Norval Plains, Helios Man Zu watched in disgust as the Maulians marched below them. He turned to Riu Tao, shaking his head. "Such simpletons. Such evil. They hold no merit nor honour." Riu Tao nodded, then turned to address the men. "My brothers, my fellow honourable guardsmen. Below lie the troops of the sovereign, a wicked, twisted, heartless wretch who seeks nothing but death and destruction. An abomination, a freak of nature, a ruthless spineless dictator-" Man Zu whacked him with the hilt of his sword. "Yes he's evil, get to the point." Riu Tao glared at him before sighing. "Alright. Everyone kill them" And with a thunder that shook the skies, the soldiers descended |
Arriving at Cynthra. Neris finished tending to one of the sick men of ship. Funneling mixture of Fire and Water upon his body. Despite the importance given to the role of healers many casters and even more casual folk did not fully understand the specifics of the healing arts. Any child, broodling and/or bud could tell that Water was an important essence to draw from to provide vitality to a person, such that an affinity to Water was very much required to be a professional healer. However few knew the benefits of the destructive quality of the Fire essence to the sickly, specially when dealing with infections. A spell merely utilizing Water certainly could do wonders, from stopping bleeding to even regrowing whole limbs if the caster was skilled enough. But there was an insiduous nature to it, specially if one did not know how to properly manage the flow of the essence and what it affected. Water was the very essence of life, motion and energy and while it aided the body in fighting whatever foreign force was causing harm, it was also perfectly capable of exciting the invaders. The nereid had to keep careful focus, applying the advanced healing technique. She had done it before many times, but no matter how many times she practiced this it did not make meticulous manipulation less important, lest the Fire shift it's focus towards her patient. Her sense were dulled, every stimuli muted as she maintained this trance like state. So focused was she that she had missed when the lookout gave signal they were approaching the coast of Cynthra. The Orium region was a conglomeration of kingdoms and states. A most unusual condition taking the more centralized nation she hailed from. Eventually Neris pulled from the dormant sailor, having completed her 'dosage' of the spell. With no more wounded or sick to treat she got up and began moving towards the hull. Her mood uplifting at the news they were finally reaching the lands of the southwest. Their vessel had to take some divergences due to an unexpected storm, delaying their trip significantly. But in the end the greater wait had only given her more anticipation to explore. Consulting with their captain she knew they would be arriving at city of Reyva, a mainly human settlement though one bordering Elvish lands. With hope crossed on her, metaphorical, heart Neris was ready for what this new chapter of her adventure would hold. |
