First post!

OK, everyone. The first poll is up.

What should be the scope of the FMF in the FedLore?

For the first option, if you want the FMF to be smaller than one world, (a collection of nations on a single planet) just put your vote under one world and explain the specifics in this RMB.

I am personally hoping that option three wins since I know there are many nations in the FMF (such as Environmental Support and The lunar republic whose territory comprises of one solar system or less, and representing that on a map of an entire galaxy or multiple galaxies might be difficult (though we can magnify a section or two of the map). I DO want to make a map of the FedLore at some point, so I am planning ahead for that. Still, that's just me, vote for the option you like the most!

I'm fine with three or four personally, though I always imagined it being like option four. I've got just over 1000 hours in Stellaris, having bought it at launch, and I naturally assumed the nations would be of a size similar to that game. I suppose it colors my outlook.

Hey everyone! Our first FedLore poll finished a couple days ago and has concluded that the territory of the FMF makes up a Sizable Chunk of the Galaxy (somewhere between one tenth to one quarter of the galaxy.

Our next poll will actually determine which galaxy we are in and whether Humanity (as most member-nation's are canonically Human, Human-majority or Human-descendants) originated from Earth or something else.

Here are the options in the poll:

Option One: Milky Way Galaxy, Humanity Originates from Earth
Our setting takes place in the real Milky Way galaxy. Humanity originated on Earth (Sol system) and later spread across the stars. Earth may still exist, be lost, or be politically irrelevant, but it is the canonical birthplace of humanity.

Option Two: Not the Milky Way Galaxy, but Humanity Still Descends From Earth
Our setting takes place in a galaxy other than the Milky Way, could be Andromeda, one of the Magellanic Clouds, Canis Major, Sagittarius, Pegasus, or a galaxy farther away. Earth is still the origin world of Humanity, but is distant and has perhaps slipped into legend (Earth-that-Was) as humanity’s original homeworld.

Option Three: Milky Way Galaxy, but Earth is not the sole origin world of Humanity
The setting is the real Milky Way, but “humans” are simply a widespread intelligent species, a common form of intelligent life, common as dirt, really. Earth is not that special. Humans have multiple or unclear points of origin.

Option Four: Milky Way Galaxy, Humanity Does NOT Come From Earth
The setting is the real Milky Way, but humanity certainly did NOT originate from Earth. Perhaps there is no Earth or Earth is actually a forgotten colony world. Humanity does have a single homeworld though.

Option Five: Different Galaxy from Milky Way, Humanity Does Not Come From Earth
Also known as the Star Wars option, our galaxy is completely seperated from the Milky Way and we know of no Earth.

Option One: Thriving Cradle
Earth remains the beating heart of human civilization (and may or may not exist within the FMF)

Option Two: Unimportant
Over time, Earth has just become like any other human planet

Option Three: Hegemon
Earth is the capital of a vast authoritarian regime that the FMF opposes or has broken away from.

Option Four: Fallen Hegemon
Earth once tried to dominate the galaxy (or at least the human colonies) but was defeated; and is now diminished, humbled, or recovering.

Option Five: Self-Destruction
After seeding much of the galaxy with human life, Earth destroyed itself, either through nuclear war between nations (if Earth never unified) or through anthropogenic environmental collapse

Option Six: Conquered
Earth was conquered and subjugated (could be aliens, rogue AI, or something else) and its people enslaved or killed.

Option Seven: Destroyed/Abandoned
Earth was destroyed by an outside force. What is left of its people have fled to the other human worlds or into the wider galaxy.

Hey everyone! I am not dead, I was just hibernating for Winter!

If you don't remember what the FedLore is, please read the FedLore Project region page. But I just want to emphasize that the FedLore is its own canon and nations should in no way feel pressured to adapt their pre-existing canon to conform to it.

In our previous FedLore polls, we determined that the FMF takes up a sizable chunk of the Milky Way Galaxy (anywhere from a quarter to a tenth of it) and includes Earth, which, despite being the homeworld of humanity, is no longer considered particularly important to the FMF at large.

Our latest poll asks this: How much of the FMF population is human or human-descended?

1. Overwhelming Majority (≈80–100%)
   Humans and their descendants dominate the Federation almost completely. Alien species exist, but they are rare or regionally isolated.

2. Strong majority (≈60–80%)
   Humans/Humankind are clearly dominant, but alien species are a significant and visible minority across many systems.

3. Plurality (≈40–60%)
   Humans and their offshoots are the single largest group, but not by much. The FMF is genuinely multi-species, with major alien populations rivaling humanity.

4. Minority (≈20–40%)
   Humans are still common and influential, but are outnumbered overall by xenos.

I'm not going to bother going smaller percentages that that since so many nations are human or human-descended as is.

Also, I have decided that next week's poll will be a little different, it will cover Outside Threats to the FMF. These will be enemies that we're sharing our galaxy with or extra-galactic invaders. I'll be making some basic ones based on Stellaris mid-game and end-game threats, but I AM taking requests! If you want to request an Outside Threat, just gimme a basic description and maybe even a pic and I'll add it to the next poll (it'll be in factbook form).

Hey everyone! It's me, the FedLore Archivist with another message about the FedLore Project!

If you don't remember what the FedLore is, please read the FedLore Project section in the Roleplay Hub. But I just want to emphasize that the FedLore is its own canon and nations should in no way feel pressured to adapt their pre-existing canon to conform to it.

In our previous FedLore poll, we determined that Humans and their descendants/offshoots (including human-created machine races) make up the Overwhelming Majority of the FMF, making up at least 80% of our total population. For the next poll, we will be discussing Outside Threats to the FMF. These will be enemies that we're sharing our galaxy with or extra-galactic invaders. Below, I am going to be posting the ones that I came up with that are essentially ripped from Stellaris, but I want you all to know that you can suggest your own!

We won't be using all of these, but only two or three of them.

The Horde of the Khan
Several nomadic marauders have banded together under a charismatic known only as the Great Khan who has promised them nothing short of total galactic domination. The Khan perhaps is a former resident/officer of an FMF member nation.

The Grey Tempest
A grey-goo-type species of sapient nanomachines who believe that organic life is a threat to their existence and seek to destroy it wherever they find it.

The Prethoryn Scourge
A swarm of hive-minded alien locusts from beyond the galaxy, arriving for the purpose of devouring all life.

The Unbidden
An energy-based extra-dimensional civilization who see the denizens of the Milky Way as "prey" and seek to consume all of the galaxy's energy.

The Contingency
An ancient, frenzied artificial intelligence whose purpose is to sterilize all life in the galaxy once it reaches a certain level of technological advancement, wiping out all organics and also all synthetics who fail to fall under its control.

I will introduce the poll next week, you have until that time to recommend new Outside Threats or to rename/rework one of the ones listed here.
