The Social Reformer Ninth Edition Monday 2nd May 2022 Edited by: New United Common-lands and Ardeyn Editorial We are excited to bring to you the 9th Edition of The Region That Has No Big Banks official newspaper, The Social Reformer. And finally don't miss the Papers, Please. RMB inspired comic at the end of this edition :) WA Delegate Update Dear all, It is a great honour to be writing to you fellow citizens upon my selection and successful election as World Assembly Delegate for our region. On the 16th of March, our founder Yodle announced their plan to retire as WA Delegate, after a successful reign of two and half years. Yodle has been a champion of The Region That Has No Big Banks, since it's founding back in 2016 and has provided great leadership for the region over the longest period. My role now starts by building upon the solid platform which Yodle has built for us, I'm very honoured to be taking over, and I know I have some very big shoes to fill. But equally, I want to bring a fresh outlook as I provide leadership for our region in the realm of World Assembly Affairs. So I would be grateful if World Assembly members can endorse me, this will help to increase our regional power and increase my efficiency as WA Delegate, by making every WA vote count. Endorse me here > nation=new_united_common-lands > then at the end of the page click the endorse button Kind Regards, New United Common-lands May 2022 Regional Census New United Common-lands, 1st May 2022 ***Attention Citizens we need YOU*** Given our massive influx of new nations we would like to take this opportunity to undertake a Regional Census, to learn more about our population and gather new ideas. We will feedback all the results in the next edition of The Social Reformer and how we plan to implement your ideas. Proposal for Summer Elections Back in November, we set out a proposal to kick start The Region That Has No Big Banks political processes and soon followed our January 2022 elections to five ministerial roles which have seen a massive shift in activity for the region. Well now it’s the time to announce our plan for the summer elections, the elections will look slightly different from before, this will allow the chance for more Nations to get involved with regional government and our government to be structured more effectively. There will be three separate election processes running throughout the summer.
2. Minister for Domestic Affairs & Minister for Foreign Affairs Elections 3. Declarations of Interest for roles in government
Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Elections Our Prime Ministerial Elections will be running a little differently this time around. Those interested in getting elected as Prime Minister should pick a running partner as Deputy PM. The elections will be for a joint Prime Minister & Deputy PM team, this should hopefully make for an interesting race in our region. We expect the PM & Deputy PM to be inaugurated by the Founder in Mid July. Minister for Domestic Affairs & Minister for Foreign Affairs Elections Once our executive officers are determined we will hold elections for our other two key ministries, giving our citizens their say in how they want their regional government to be run We expect the MoDA & MoFA to be inaugurated by Founder at the End of July Declarations of Interest for roles in government Alongside our MoDA & MoFA elections, other Nations will have the chance to put themselves forward to be part of the regional government, the Founder, Prime Minister and Deputy PM will decide how they want to form their government to deliver on their manifesto priorities. They may choose to re-shuffle the existing officers and promote other nations to government, junior ministers can play a helpful part in performing the duties of Regional Government. At present nothing has been confirmed, below you can see a concept of a future state regional government. Regional Parliament Reset Ardeyn, 1st May 2022 As some of you may know, we've had a complete reset and rework of our regional parliament, which includes the newly appointed role in our government, the Speaker of the House (SotH). As our first Speaker, it is my duty to maintain and expand parliament, as well as hold its sessions. These changes came about after a lengthy conversation between me and our beloved delegate, New United Common-lands. We were both disappointed by parliament's inactivity and slowness, and so worked together to come up with an easily implementable solution, thus resulting in the Speaker of the House act. The Speaker of the House Act, as approved on 13th April 2022 by 6 votes, (6|0|0) This proposal is to introduce Speaker of the House role to regional government. Given our recent regional elections, and influx in nations joining our region. We are using our mandate as regional government to improve and overhaul our regional processes and roleplay. This bill recommends appointing a member of parliament to a new role “Speaker of the House". On approval of this bill, Ardeyn will be appointed to, interim Speaker of the House to setup processes. Later we will hold an election through parliament to determine who should take this role forward. Role Responsibilities
This act was a great step in the right direction toward increasing parliament activity, and there are certainly more reworks to come in the future! If you wish to join parliament and shape our region's future, please read more about it and sign up or send us a bill via this dispatch. Bankless Football League New United Common-lands, 30th April 2022 The Bankless Football League (BFL) is a sports league within The Region That Has No Big Banks that partakes in the sport of football, also known as soccer. The inaugural season of the league started on April 6th, 2022 with 16 teams making an appearance. Our Bankless League contenders have been clear since only four games in the season! Dashing Does FC (Costra Estil, Seed 10) and Danobia FC(Danobia, Seed 13) have been the top teams in their respective divisions, this has remained pretty clear throughout the seasons so far. These teams competed in the half-season exhibition match, where the top of both divisions face off. It was a closely fought affair, with Dashing Does coming out ahead winning 4 goals to 3. However, there was no clear margin which leaves us all guessing about the outcome of the soon approaching playoffs. Our most recent round at the time of writing was round 11, with the teams fighting very closely for a top 4 position to be entered into the BFL Playoff competition, and now several teams are unable to make enough points to win their respective conferences, commiserations to New-Union (SC), Mr government (DC), Lkandria (SC), Huevina (DC), Ardeyn (DC) and Lemona (DC). We thank the commissioner of the BFL and Minister of Culture The Washington Federation, for their excellent work and gripping entertainment which the BFL continues to provide, we look forward to the outcome of the next few rounds and into the playoffs to find out which Nation will be crowned champion of the BFL in our inaugural season. Xinhua News Premier Elections The Chinese will go to the polls in a few days time to pick their Premier. The favorable and popular candidate, Bo Ling Chen, is being touted as a favorite according to preliminary pools. Hailing from a working class family from Shanghai, Ms. Bo is outside the norm given her young age(25) and populist stances. A newcomer to politics, Ms. Bo became a senior ranking Alderman for the Shanghai city council at the age of 22 straight out of University(St. Isiah University) and the Armed Forces(Chinese Army). She has utilized social media in her campaign. Her style has been described as "Revolutionary, Inflammatory, Populist, and Hip" *Commercial break to an Ad for Bo Ling Chen's campaign* Hi I'm Bo Ling Chen. China stands at a crossroads between the people's interests and the interests of a few Socialist cronies. That's right, Socialists! These cronies make the traitor, Mao Zedong, look like a tree loving hippie with their cunning deceit. They want to take away your rights to guns, your pension, your property and more importantly, your civil liberties. They spit in the face of our Chinese identity and kiss the butts of our enemies in the Soviet Union I will not stand for this at all. I will work with President Sun to stand up for you. Yes you! The future of China is in your hands, get out there and vote for your future, vote for your China *News comes back* Suspicious Package On The Metro |

The City-States and Leagues of The Land of the Ephyral Wings of Skiron - Voice of the citizens of the League Kalkadrion extends an invitation to the Chinese Premier... The recent elections in China have brought the question of the relationship between the East Asian Republic and the Sacred League back to the forefront of foreign affairs. In response to the victory of the Kuomintang's Bo Ling Chen, a candidate predicted to have been a favourite for success, the Kalkadrion of the Sacred League has issued an invitation to the young Premier to visit Ephyra and be hosted in the League's seat in Haledon. The Helopon of the Sacred League affirmed this invitation and invites Miss Bo to be a guest at the Arophon, the official residence of the Helopon. The visit will also enable an address by Miss Bo to the Kalkadrion at the Haledonian temple to Sykades. In its invite, the Kalkadrion acknowledged the "peculiarity" of a woman being admitted into the temple, but regards Miss Bo's appointment as a sufficient basis to allow exception. It is expected that matters of trade, renewal of diplomatic commitments, and other issues will be discussed over the duration of the visit, although no doubt the first day shall be used to set the guest-right in place and make the Premier comfortable. Syndicalist sympathiser rally in southern city dispersed by women... In an unusual set of events in the southern kolos of Hidos yesterday evening, a small crowd of Syndicalist supporters numbering no more than two dozen temporarily occupied one of the central marketplaces of the city, and there voiced support for the Syndicalist regimes of Eurasia. The spread of the subversive ideology, emphasising slave-like fantasies of equality and universal brotherhood, into the Middle East and Africa, has long been a concern for the League ever since the support provided by said powers to the Tyrants' Revolt during the Decade of Blood. The infiltration of the ideology into a minority of citizens has been a deeper concern for individual city-states however, especially in the south of the country where the Tyrants' Revolt originated. Demonstrations of this sort are not unknown, though multiple cities have taken steps to limit their efficacy. In this most recent display however, opposition to the Syndicalist nonsense arose not first from the city's law enforcement, on edge regarding such demonstrations since a larger protest late last year, but from the multitude of women engaging in mid-afternoon trading and purchases. Anger was aroused when the few women among the mostly male agitators publicly removed their veils and burned them, calling upon the rest of the women to do the same. Fearing a potential escalation as in the aforementioned protest the year before, where numerous respectable women had their veils forcibly removed by the Marxist thugs, the women in the marketplace moved to disperse the agitators, successfully driving them apart and away with their fury and superior numbers. In the confusion, law enforcement were unable to arrest any of the Syndicalists, but the Hidos City Watch nevertheless praised the response. A spokesman for the Hidos City Watch called upon families to ensure their sons and daughters were not "dishonouring the heart stone of their city with perverse displays of immodesty," referring especially to the veil-burning. The act was criticised as "an attempt to sever the important barrier between respectable women and whores", and warned families that their daughters may be mistaken for the latter if participating in such vulgar action. |
