THE ANDEGARIAN EDICT | 9th of July, 2025 / 3500-07-09 King of Toanei dies at 81 An uncharacteristically somber atmosphere descends upon a notoriously stone-hearted southwestern kingdom this morning following the announcement that King Muratus VI of Toanei has passed away following a brief illness. He was 81. Since inheriting the Toaneian throne in 1974 (3449) following the death of his childless elder brother, Attinus IV, the late king cemented himself as something of a distant and oftentimes indifferent monarch who preferred to rule behind the curtains whilst his advisors served as the public face of the throne he nonetheless managed to keep for more than fifty years. Were it not for his lifelong personal friendship with High King Ateano II and the undeniable efficiency in which his administrative machine ran (particularly by the standards of the realm), one would not be blamed for writing him off as little more than a seat-warmer. Regardless, the departed sovereign's kingdom flourished under his watch and his people have flocked to the streets to commemorate the final ascension of Naemohr's loyal servant to the realms beyond. Crown Prince Agdan, in accordance with his father's express wishes, has ordered only a modest ceremony to be held in utter secrecy at the palace, attended by the late king's closest family and advisors. In accordance with Arikean funerary traditions, the body will be embalmed during the aforementioned ceremony, after which it will be interred in the royal crypt beneath the palace grounds. Syndicalist squatters evicted from abandoned island On a more positive note (albeit one prefaced by numerous egregious affronts to the gods and everything that is good), Isarian authorities have reported that a group of self-professed "syndicalists" holed up for the past two weeks on the island of Irkan in the outer reaches of the Kingdom of Isarius have at last been arrested and flown to the capital to answer for their blasphemy. For those not in the know, early last month a large fishing vessel sailing past Irkan, an uninhabited island about 230 kilometres north of the Isarian mainland, reported seeing figures moving along the shoreline. Though not normally a sight worth noting, much less reporting to the authorities, the alarm was quickly raised when the figures in question allegedly unfurled a large red banner with the words "FREE ARIKEAN COMMUNES OF ISARIUS" painted on in broken Arikean. That the island itself is regarded with a combination of reverence and superstition by local islands due to its extremely checkered past harkening back to the days of the Red Tyrant (likely not accidental on the part of the syndicalists) only made the presence of these foreign hooligans ever more concerning. As local law enforcement circled the island and confirmed their continued presence in the coming days, it is believed the intruders took to defacing some of the ruins still present on Irkan with various bits of graffiti glorifying 19th and 20th century syndicalist leaders whilst constructing ramshackle dwellings out of wood and whatever assorted trash they had brought with them. A speedboat moored off the coast was swiftly impounded as its owners yelled obscenities and communist slogans at the cameras being pointed down at them from the police helicopters. Finally, just a few days ago, armed police were airlifted onto the island to arrest the squatters, which was accomplished in surprisingly short order given their previous bravado. No shots were fired and little force was seemingly required to subdue them, though the handcuffs unfortunately did little to silence their cacophonous barbarian prattle. Eleven people were subsequently remanded in custody in the Isarian capital for illegally entering Arikean territory, treading on and defacing a holy and protected site, preaching a proscribed political ideology, insulting the gods and (in three cases) resisting arrest. Further details regarding this case, particularly the offending party's origins, are subject to a media blackout pending an ongoing investigation. ─────────── Sino-Ephyrian summit commences A sign of our northern neighbours' increasing openness to the wider world flew into Haledon International Airport yesterday to address the Ephyrian Kalkadrion at the side of the Helopon himself. We of course refer to the Boeing 800 aircraft that ferried newly-elected Chinese Premier Bo Ling Chen into the Ephyrian capital, greeting Helopon Neleos Teutamides on the tarmac before they and their aides were whisked away to get the ball rolling for their surprise diplomatic liaison. As of yet, nothing has been confirmed one way or the other about the topics being broached behind the Kalkadrion's closed doors, though there will undoubtedly be a great deal of pressure on both sides to make a good first impression, particularly given Miss Chen's youth and the fact she is a female head-of-state in a country where no such thing exists. We can only hope their business remains at a purely professional level. |

Bankless Football League; Season 1 and Season 2 The Bankless Football League (BFL) is a sports league within The Region That Has No Big Banks that partakes in the sport of football, also known as soccer. The inaugural season of the league, where 16 teams made an appearance, has now been completed. The BFL S1 would see the top positions shuffle for a while until it would solidify into the "two giants", Dashing Does FC (Costra estil) and Danobia FC (Danobia), with the competitors of Vlaskal, New United Common-lands, Greater Drussi, and Triangola all making attempts to take the top spot, but for the most part ultimately failing by the end of the season. However, the Greater Drussi team would overthrow the Dashing Does in the last game of the season, before coming into the playoffs. In the Playoff bracket, it was Wash. Fed. FC (The Washington Federation) and Common Land Utd (New United Common-lands) who made it into the Yodle Bowl. Common Land Utd. reigned victorious in the first season of the BFL, beating Wash. Fed. FC by 4 goals to 2 goals. Given the high popularity of the Bankless Football league The Washington Federation commissioner of the BFL announced the BFL's official expansion to 20 teams. The second season of the BFL has now begun, starting on September 6th, 2022. With the likes of Dashing Does FC (Costra estil) and Danobia FC (Danobia) still dominating within the Sanders Conference. We are now more than 180 games into the season, and this year's playoff rivals have been decided. Well done to Danobia,Costra estil, New United Common-lands, Kaltburg, Socialistic Britain, Brendene , Newhe Theimania Islands and Vlaskal with their teams all making the playoffs. Artotzkiya of Asterya as an administrator of the InterLeft very quickly organised a snap election, where both New United Common-lands and Onionist Randosia of Asterya agreed to run as candidates. Both candidates gave their campaign pitches on the InterLeft discord server, with very similar platforms with the biggest difference being OR’s plans to build an IL military while NUCL has plans to build IL branding instead. At the time of writing this we are hours away from knowing who the new Chancellor of the InterLeft will be however at the time of writing the votes are as follows (votes subject to review);New United Common-lands 24 votes and Onionist Randosia 16 votes. N-day: BoomBloc On N-day TRTHNBB officially joined with fellow friends and colleagues from the InterLeft and TheFreeBloc. Calling our faction BoomBloc, where we amassed around 250 nations many of which were puppets. Making us the 11th largest faction in the whole of NationStates. Thanks to all the nations who participated in our turbulent N-day this year, we went from the early heights of top or the leaderboard to the deep lows of the leaderboard after a few hours. Check out the Constitution timeline here May Census Report Thanks to all nations who took part in our May Census, this provided some useful insights into our region, most importantly though, Big Bank approval ratings were very low. Whilst we may have different ways of running our respective governments we are all unified against the big banks! Over 80% of our nations were unified in this sentiment. The most interesting part for the context of the region was probably around the Regional Government, approval ratings with New United Common-lands, The Washington Federation and Ardeyn all coming out with the highest ratings, although maybe not a massive surprise as these three nations are the most active within our regional government. The lowest approval ratings were for Partisan Italy (our former Minister of Defense) and Brendene (our former Deputy Minister Of Defense), so now it has become an ongoing joke on the RMB that Minster of Defense role is cursed, any nation will end up becoming inactive and CTE’ing so we shall see if that prophecy continues to be the case! The majority of TRTHNBB nations favour left-wing politics, (with 12 nations preferring that option), centre left politics and centrism were the 2nd and 3rd preference respectively. This probably helps explains our regional political party approval ratings, which showed the centre left parties commanding more support and those parties aligning further left tending to be less popular. The parties with the highest approval ratings were the Democratic Socialist Party and the Environmental Protection Party. The Beacon - The light of truth shines bright. Pelagonian League confirms invite extended to King Erik of the Kalmar Union... The council of the Pelagonian League, headed by its year leader, Philaon, the king of Milatis, has confirmed that it has extended an invitation to King Erik of the Kalmar Union. In a brief statement, the council expressed its condolences towards the new king about the death of his father and predecessor, Christian X, who died of a heart attack earlier this year. It further added that "the renewal of ties between the Pelagonians and the Scandinavians, with a common history of seafaring and trade, is of importance to the members of this council". The king's visit will take him to various member states of the Pelagonian League, although chief on the list are to be Milatis, the home city of the current leader; Aspidos, the largest of the Pelagonian cities; and Hemenion, which controls the temple of Tythios the Uniter (the League's meeting place). The five other leagues have also expressed their condolences to the Kalmar Union for the loss of King Christian X, and whilst there are rumours of the Apellikones and Geleans extending official visit invitations, no such offers have yet been made. Spartagran sacred site defaced by Syndicalist extremist... A temple to Kathis the Protector was defaced with black and red paint by a Syndicalist sympathiser earlier this week in the southern Orthean city of Spartagra. The liberation of Spartagra, which had been militarily occupied by the Eurasian Syndicalist backed tyrants that came to power in various south-eastern Ephyrian cities during the Decade of Blood, was one of the core events of the war that enabled the rebel cities to be isolated and defeated decisively. During its occupation, the resistance of the citizens of Spartagra via underground organisation and assassination of enemy leaders and soldiers was celebrated across the six leagues, and the city became a symbol of resistance for other occupied cities. Black and red, the colour of the Syndicalist-backed tyrants, has long since been associated with hostility to Ephyrian culture and sacrilege in the southern cities. The young man was promptly detained by Spartagran security officials responsible for protecting the city's religious sites and formally arrested by Spartagran police. A trial will determine if the man violated the Spartagran law against desecration of sacred ground, for which the penalty is death. |

The new Intermodel Containers are, according to the LBA, just as durable as their legacy ISO container counterparts while also being much more spacious, lighter, and more environmentally friendly. "The massive usage of these containers will drastically decrease shipping costs and ships, aircraft, trains, and trucks can move multiple of these containers around simultaneously." Said a spokesman for LBA at a press conference at the Commerical Products Convention in Las Vegas yesterday. "We hope to see this really become the next box that industries use for the future. Syndicalist Protest turns Violent as Right-Wing Counter-Protestors Confront Demonstration The Danmoth City streets erupted in street fights and general violence as the Syndicalist protest against the reelection of President Alan Callahan was confronted by a group of people professing themselves as 'anti-communist' and 'right winged nationalists. At first the two groups had initially began with dialogue over the Tuesday morning streets outside of the State Legislative building in observance and security by the Danmoth City police, but the situation quickly escalated into violence as unknown perpetrators began to throw firebombs into the crowd, following a series of massive street brawls. Danmoth City police intervened at around noon during the confusion and suppressed both mobs using tear gas, rubber bullets, flashbangs, sound weapons, and truncheons. Around 177 people were injured from the protests and the suppression by police but no confirmed fatalities are reported. Some complained as to the nature of the police's efforts to intervene in the fighting as a display of 'Police Brutality', and condemned the Danmoth City Police Chief Ryan Gooding as having reacted too strongly to the unrest. Others had blamed authorities for not have intervening sooner before the violence as started. |
THE ANDEGARIAN EDICT | 23rd of August, 2025 / 3500-08-23 Statue of Princess Meleia unveiled in Komyrai The drizzly streets of the Macruchean capital were awash with more than just rainwater yesterday afternoon as it was announced to no shortage of local fanfare that a long-awaited effigy depicting the late Princess Meleia of Komyrai had at last been officially consecrated. A crowd of hundreds had already gathered around the pre-prepared plinth situated facing the main gate at the Aminura Sanctuary by the time a delegation from the city's grand council arrived to begin the ceremony, which lasted just over an hour and was capped off by a short yet characteristically sombre speech by Prince Rentho, Meleia's eldest grandson and heir apparent to the kingdom. "I don't think it needs saying just how difficult the path to this moment has been. From the day she returned to us until the day she went to be with the Gods, Princess Meleia struggled with the legacy of her soul-rending ordeal across the waters. First in putting her recollections to paper and then in getting even one person, peasant and prince alike, to not simply disregard her tale as pure fantasy. As if she spent those years in war-torn Ephyra sipping wine and writing tasteless poetry instead of trying not to get shot or raped by the slaves that butchered her betrothed and his family or the godless Marxists that put weapons in their hands. No, the Gods shepherded her out of the mouth of madness for a reason... and our forebears would have done well to be more mindful of that." The beleaguered prince's words are just a brief touch upon the life of an individual seemingly both blessed and cursed in equal measure. Born on July 15, 1921, Meleia was the fifth child and second daughter of then-Prince Massius, future King of Macruchea. Her upbringing was relatively nondescript for her station, however in the early winter of 1940 she was sent off by her father to be wed (much to her consternation) to Itylos Aetionides, an Ephyrian high nobleman from Decicyon in the country's northwest. Ultimately, fate had other ideas in store, as no sooner had the princess and her husband-to-be dressed for dinner was the estate attacked and seized by the family's retinue of slaves, emboldened so by the Syndicalist terror erupting across the Ephyrian landmass. Princess Meleia would eventually escape after several days of avoiding her would-be captors, but her betrothed, his family and servants as well as the princess' lady-in-waiting and personal bodyguard were all killed. Stranded in a war-torn country with nobody to turn to and speaking nary a lick of Ephyrian, she would spend the next three years hiding out in the devastated outskirts of Decicyon with little to no human contact. It was only when she threw herself at the feet of an elderly Ephyrian patriarch and begged for help that news of her survival started to travel the airwaves, eventually resulting in her rescue by an Arikean expeditionary force. After she was returned home, though her family was overjoyed to see her alive and (relatively) well after having thought her dead years ago, her account of the events surrounding her ordeal in Ephyra was met with widespread scepticism and occasionally even mockery. In addition, though she was soon back in peak physical health, the horrors of the Decade of Blood left her broken and despondent for years afterwards and it wasn't until well over a decade later that she finally felt able to speak openly and frankly about her experiences, culminating in the release of her book in 1962. Despite once again becoming the subject of intense scrutiny over the veracity of her retellings, the wider audience she reached produced a broader range of opinions, particularly among veterans of the war itself. Numerous figures would come forward to corroborate her accounts and her husband, himself having served in Ephyra, as well as her children would all speak out on her behalf. Though many details are still thought to have been embellished, the story of Princess Meleia's survival has since been accepted as one of the most definitive perspectives on the darker side of a conflict all too often viewed solely through a military lens. Princess Meleia of Komyrai lived out the remainder of her life in the city of her birth, only leaving a handful of times to appear at public events where she would recite her tales of the Decade of Blood. She died of a stroke in 1988 at the age of 67, survived by her husband and four children. ─────────── Syndicalist agitation fraying nerves worldwide Over the last few weeks there has been an alarming uptick in the frequency of reports from other nations surrounding Syndicalist malcontents and the chaos they seem to bring everywhere with them. At first, it was assumed the rally-turned-riot in the city of Malmö in the Kalmar Union was a one-off incident, a relatively uncommon if nonetheless unsettling case of Marxist sympathisers letting their emotions run wild in a world that only despises them more with each passing year. Yet it seems however that it was merely a prelude, as further rallies in Copenhagen were quickly followed by similar provocations in Ephyra, most notably in Spartagra where a sacred temple was vandalised by a young man apparently so enthralled by delusions of "worker empowerment" that he offered himself up as a martyr, at least if his expected sentence is anything to go by. Not two days had passed by before yet another incident popped up, this time in the Cerman city of Danmoth where gangs of Syndicalist rabble-rousers incensed at the re-election of President Alan Callahan were intercepted by a crowd of self-professed nationalists and anti-communists, quickly sparking an all-out riot that took several hours for law enforcement to stamp out. As governments across the civilised world scramble to prepare for further upheavals, one can safely assume the eyes of the Syndicalist world are looking onwards with a mix of glee and trepidation, no doubt preparing their statements of denial well in advance of the inevitable accusations by their adversaries of de-stabilisation and subterfuge in the hopes of reviving their long-lost fortunes, or perhaps just as a timely reminder that the red hydra is never truly vanquished, however much we may think or wish otherwise. |
