The same happens to me. I suffer a lot in winter, because the sky is completely dark at around 6:00pm and once there is no sunlight my brain starts to work worse, I lose focus more easily and think slower, so I believe I'm a true early morning lover XD.

The opposite happens in summer; the Sun goes down at as late as 9:30pm (gotta love Spain), which keeps me energized for all the afternoon :)

Heyyyy there, Forest! It's me again! Nothing to plug this time, ahahah. ^^

Just wondering if I missed the Photo Contest this year, because as far as my eyes can see, no mention of it yet.

The Photo Contest normally starts around November 25. Keep an eye out for it then!

Thanks to everyone who joined in for our first game night! I had a ton of fun, and I look forward to seeing what games other people run in the future!

EDIT: Remember to get in touch with any errors and/or omissions in our new "hall of fame" (name pending discussion) - and be sure to let me know if you're ok with people getting in touch with you to ask questions about GA/SC/issue writing.

This is me too! I NEVER pulled an all nighter in college. I usually go to bed about midnight and get up about 7:30!

Oh, how about "Tree of Memory" or "Cove of Achievements"? Maybe "The Hallowed Grounds"? Sorry if they're silly suggestions :P and yeah sure, no problem about being asked questions.

The Kingdom of Hospe

Rallying Day Two
A big and possibly decisive lead for Octonovem as Lauren Belejo and Dana Farnn take the win after battling Southern Hospe's infamous marshlands, Team B would finish sixth taking enough points to place Octonovem 15 points clear at the top. Other teams will be desperate to rein them in at the next stage. Bad day for Laufeyssen as Team Freki suffered a temporary mechanical failure late into their run and with Team Geri losing almost ten minutes after being stuck in the marsh. Greater Ottonna and Tjorl will be sizing each other up for the next round as they share the same amount of points.
National Standings After Stage One
1 Octonovem - 33 Points
2 Finmany- 18 Points
3 Forest Virginia- 15 Points
4 Hospe- 13 Points
5 Greater Ottonna- 10 Points
6 Tjorl - 10 Points
7 Laufeyssen- 2 Points
Check out the dispatch for the specifics.

Early rivalries have been formed as the two most decorated drivers: Busines and Trezeguet slugged it out over the weekend. This time Trezeguet came out on top who knows what could happen next as Open Wheel action moves to the street of Viktoria in Freeland.

its the duration, not the little numbers on the clock. give me a minimum of ten, uninterrupted hours of downtime out of every 24, and it doesn't matter where on the clock they begin or end, as long as they're there, and not moved more then a half hour or so from one day to the next. for me that is. absolutely nothing to do with where the sun is in the sky, its just absolutely all about the duration. given a week or two, and my chicadian rythems will adjust themselves. whatever the hours are, as long as downtime is sufficient and consistent, my internal alarm clock will call them natural.

never made sense to me why people assume, odd hours have to be additional hours. the entire schedule of the day, can simply be rotated around the clock to line up with them. no loss of anything, just the little numbers on the clock being different. no more no less.

Cameroi wrote:its the duration, not the little numbers on the clock. ... absolutely nothing to do with where the sun is in the sky, its just absolutely all about the duration.

I can relate to that, but only halfway: for me, it's not the numbers on the clock, per se; it's where the sun is in the sky. In the fall, winter, and spring, I can sleep well because it's dark, and I go to bed between 8-9pm most nights. Then I wake up around 5-5:30am, and it's still dark. But in the summer, I find that despite not having school, and therefore being able to sleep as much as I want in principle, I am nevertheless unable to sleep enough, because it doesn't get dark early enough, and the sun also rises too early. It's difficult for me to sleep when it's daytime.

Forest Virginia wrote:I NEVER pulled an all nighter in college. I usually go to bed about midnight and get up about 7:30!

Me neither! The absolute latest that I would ever be awake (less than 1% of the time) would be to around 1-2am, but I was always awake by 6:30-7:30am, regardless of the circumstances. Sleep for me is non-negotiable; I don't relate to people "who only need 5-6 hours of sleep" or who can wildly vary their sleeping between the weekdays and the weekends. For years, I have basically gone to bed and woken up within the same block of time, and it's the best way to live. If you're tired, it makes the whole day harder, and I am less effective. There's really no compromising on sleep for me.

I embrace the idea of a place, a guild or an order where we remember and honour great Forestrians of the past. However I feel it should be more than `justī a list of names and it should be more based on things they did specifically for the region than on things they did for NS in general and are already awarded for via icons in the game. How about including past winners of the photo competition, representatives of Forest in NS sports (e.g. Zwangzug, regional authority representatives like Montmorencia, Caracasus and Santa Joanna, nations that helped during N-day and / or Z-day Mount Seymour and Forest card collectors like Verdant Haven and Love and Nature with a description why they were included.

I definitely agree that it should be more than a list of names, who already have fancy badges. How about a nomination and voting process, like a simplified, localised SC?

Taking myself out of the equation, I think this is an excellent idea. Forest is an ancient region, tracing her history and lineage to the beginning of NS.Through that time, she has seen countless nations come and go, many of whom have helped to shaped the landscape of the NS-Universe. Many others left their mark domestically in varying forms. Whether it be the tabulation and presentation of the 'greenest' nations, assisting in the emergency operations center during the annual Halloween festivities, or the operations and maneuvers coordinated and launched in the war room as missiles fly through the skies threatening ecologic and radiologic destruction. Both categories should receive full recognition and honors. However, this recognition should be contingent on the considered nation having resided and/or exerted significant influence over the canopy and floor of and in Forest.

Endurance Sprint Qualifying 1
Less than an hour after a riveting Open Wheel race. The Endurance Racing teams would line up for Qualifying. Max Reza would start on pole for Nerrise but a spin at Turn Five would see second placed Max Haugen of Tjorl would pass him to claim a possibly decisive victory. Meanwhile, Tommy Peters would come from the very back of the grid to place Forest Virginia second.
The teams will lineup thus:
1 Team Tjorl
2 Team Forest Virginia
3 Team Octonovem
4 Team Hospe
5 Team Laufeyssen
6 Team Hospean border islands
7 Team Nerrise
8 Team Finmany
9 Team Greater ottonna

So the current list is just in its first iteration right now (I've talked about that over on the discord but it's worth mentioning here too). It's something I pulled together quickly based on forum-side lists of all the issue writers and GA/SC proposal authors - sort of a "first stop" when it comes to Forestians who have achieved something, but by no means the definitive list. I think recognising these people in a small way is overdue, given the amount of prestige Forest receives on the NS-wide stage due to the quality and quantity of these individuals' contributions... and generally the sheer number of people willing to contribute that Forest is home to, especially relative to its size. It's well-known that these contributions take hours to prepare and days of drafting and redrafting before they become part of the fabric of the game. The fact that many Forestians have used that platform to bring dozens of social and political issues to the eyes of thousands of players is just the icing on the cake. At present, the list also replaces an outdated dispatch that gave newbies a list of people they could get in touch with for help and advice, so it's functional in that way too.

It's clear that the above is just an easy place to start when it comes to listing sources of regional pride, but as I say, it's nowhere near to being a definitive list. I fully expected when preparing the dispatch that the list of achievements we celebrate together would widen, especially as more suggestions are voiced - photo contest winners or notable card collectors are a good place to start. Unlike GA/SC/issues contributions, there is no central repository of such achievements, so it should be unsurprising they'll need to be added over time and as they are proposed.

And yes, it is just a list - in some ways, it's an amazing thing that it would be an enormous task to have a description after all of our achievers, so at present I settled with a small token of "hey, these folks gave up their time and did something awesome, we're proud of them" (remembering again that other achievements and achievers will definitely need to be added in future iterations). Garbelia, Ownzone, Raccoon Creek: in the spirit of assisting others to realise their ideas, I encourage you to discuss plans for an internal commendation programme further, including how it would look and how individuals would be selected (nominations? voting?). It could be something you could collaborate on, or if one of you is particularly inspired they could get something kicked off. I'm sure there are lots of people here who would be willing to lend a hand as needed, too. It definitely sounds interesting at this stage!

Municipal election and plebiscite for me today, and thanks to tabulation machines, the results are already out. Both the mayoral candidate and councilor I voted for won, and I was on the winning side of the plebiscite issue that actually matters. We're (probably) getting fluoride back in our water!

There was a bunch of stuff on the ballot this year that literally did not matter this year. I'm not too happy about it being there, because it's just vanity projects for the provincial government. For example, we voted for senators. Our votes don't matter at all, those are federally appointed positions. We also amusingly voted in favor of removing a section from the Canadian constitution, which I don't think is a thing we can do as a municipality, no matter how many people vote to do so. We've effectively voted in favor of sending a strongly worded letter to the government, which will promptly be dismissed and ignored by every other province.

have you ever tasted floridated water? i appreciate the intention but not good.
what needs to be put in the water is something to lower the human birthrate.
by the way, most of my teeth have fallen out, one at a time, mostly years apart.
the first when i was 23, and that one was so painful i thought it would kill me.
but it didn't. i'm now 73 and i've got a grand total of 7 and a half.
the only one that ever formed an actual cavity, the top did eventually break off.
all of the rest, it was the roots let go after the nerve died, except that first one.
my brain hasn't entirely rotted yet.
no guarantee it won't at some point, but for now, roll of the dice, i might live another two or three decades,
or i suppose, as likely years or months.

I wonder what an age spread of the RL people behind the nations of Forest would look like, but I'd suspect that it's more similar to real life than most regions. I think it's awesome that we have such a spread of people. It makes us closer to a real, organic community to have a wide range of age groups.

I sometimes wonder if I'll ever make it to 73, haha. It's a long way from 28, and a lot can happen in the world and to me in the intervening years...

Overpopulation concerns are valid, but involuntary contraception and/or sterilisation is never the answer.
