Municipal election and plebiscite for me today, and thanks to tabulation machines, the results are already out. Both the mayoral candidate and councilor I voted for won, and I was on the winning side of the plebiscite issue that actually matters. We're (probably) getting fluoride back in our water!

There was a bunch of stuff on the ballot this year that literally did not matter this year. I'm not too happy about it being there, because it's just vanity projects for the provincial government. For example, we voted for senators. Our votes don't matter at all, those are federally appointed positions. We also amusingly voted in favor of removing a section from the Canadian constitution, which I don't think is a thing we can do as a municipality, no matter how many people vote to do so. We've effectively voted in favor of sending a strongly worded letter to the government, which will promptly be dismissed and ignored by every other province.
