Eight months ago, the beloved singer Ella Wright was found dead in a small lake, near where sge was living at the time. The police ruled it a murder, and after a lengthy investigation, her husband (Marco di Fuoco, a famous Koranzian actor) was seeming like the most likely suspect. Ultimately, the actor was arrested and was sent to court.

This gave way to a high profile murder trial, with testimonies coming from both sides, old acquaintances of the husband and the wife alike appearing after years, and thousands of people wondering when it would end.
Finally, the trial concluded last Wednesday, with the jury's verdict declaring di Fuoco guilty. He has been charged with first degree manslaughter and will spend life in prison, at the most secure facility ib the region.

No one present at the trial offered their statement, presumably to avoid the conviction from reaching too high a level of publicity.

Achlavanian President unhappy at re-election

Last week were the national elections in Achlavania and, for the third time running, Mr Javunn C Knottz was re-elected by the public. However, in an unexpected turn of events, the President seemed discontent about maintaining his position.

When asked for more information on the matter, this is what he had to say:
"If I may be honest, I was hoping to retire soon. I've been leading Achlavania for a long time and, although I love my job, I need a change. I thought these elections would give me that, but no. It seems the people want me to stay in charge, despite my better judgement.
However, we are a democratic country, so if the people want me at the head of the government, then so be it!"

This and other such comments have lead many to speculate whether this could be the heralding of a new arrival to the most coveted position in Government, or if it simply a strange political campaign.

Novocheratovistani military receives new funding

The small Principality of Novocheratovistan is a fiercely patriotic country, and the government announced this week that the national armed forces would begin to have much more extense funding.

"These are turbulent times we live in, and in an increasingly military world, times can be uncertain. However, never shall it be said that Novocheratovistan is not an advancing nation, so we shall progress alongside all who wish to join us! The army, navy and air force of our great nation will be growing stronger, to ensure peace, security and prosperity for all our allies.

Speeches such as these are becoming more and more frequent in many Valaryian nations, and some wonder whether this is simply a passing moment of militarism or if it is the start of something greater...

Koroyios Mavrolouloukos Announces New Arms Subsidies

Earlier this week, Koroyios Mavrolouloukos, leader or Valaryian Burvenchkaht, announced new subsidies aimed for the Arms Manufacturing Sector, and with it the creation of the Burvenchian Weapons Testing and Manufacturing Program (BWT-MP). The purpose of this program will be mainly to facilitate mass production of "Equipment of War", such as tanks, guns and airplanes.
To make this, the government has promised its citizens new military training grounds, and more factories to build all the weaponry and tools the armed forces will require.

Some say this marks the end of imported weaponry into Valaryian Burvenchkaht, but such claims have not been confirmed. As it is a nation that is less advanced compared to the rest of Valaryia, many claim that the country will still have to make use of technologically developed weapons from other areas of the world.

G.G Gustaf abolishes private property

In a shocking move, the Governor General of Ny Holmstrom announced just yesterday that the government would be building more social and public housing, and prohibiting rent and private properties.

"So now my HOUSE isn't even mine?! What's next, our lives are public property? Look, I think it's great what the government's doing with all the subsidies and whatever, but we need to keep some stuff for ourselves, right?" questions former real estate agent Elissa Hödelsson.

Other nations seem to be beginning to cut economic ties with Ny Holmstrom. Coincidentally, most of these nations are radically capitalistic. Whether this is a retaliation against the communist regime in the country or simply a coincidence remains to be seen.

Swedesttanossa finally succeeds in testing SAF Technology

With the recent development of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) technology, many countries have begun switching entirely to the use of this fuel over conventional energies. It is a fuel made from cooking oil and other leftover kitchen waste substances, and is completely biodegradable and ecologically safe. After learning more about it, the Swedesttanossan Government invested in the technology and successfully tested its first flight using the SAF from Bitwannskyachkhyeindaristope Airport to EnGukalovecesyan Airport.
