Leemm Calls for Action

The Lake Derrkinor Mountain Fire has now been put out, leaving millions in damage and hospital bills. Leemm has said that from now until the smoke and pollution from the fire clears, healthcare will be free to those affected by the fires. The Vekkeli Red Medic has started a fundraising event to not only help victims of the fire, but also to rebuild and clean up Lake Derrkinor Mountain. Hazardous Air Alerts are still in effect until the smoke clears. President Leemm has asked for citizens to continue wearing the gas masks until further notice.

Consreep Subway Overhaul

If you heard in recent news that Consreep is getting new trams and subway trains, then you're correct. Mayor of Consreep, Lionna Hintverbag has approved a bill that will overhaul Consreep's subway systems and busses. The main focus is the failing subway system, which sees constant delays due to outdated technologies from the 2040s. The new subway systems would include new tracks that would power the trains through electricity. The actual rail car itself will hold 40 people comfortably, have luxurious memory foam seats, and will be able to travel at 80mph (about 129 km/h). Consreep's first new line will begin construction on November 8th.

Legal Adult Age Changed

In Vekkla, it is customary to legally send your child off to live on their own at the age of 16. Well not anymore. A law was passed giving adulthood to anyone who is 20 due to brain development and liver development. This law will also spike the drinking age from 16 to 21, as livers are more likely to be able to filter alcohol at 21 rather than 16. This change comes as underage drinking is becoming an issue. Twenty kids have already been arrested for drinking and public rowdiness. Vekkla News Now has gotten reports that Congress' own, Grelda Ikkanberg, has also been arrested for selling alcohol to middle school students, all of whom were underage. Hopefully this new adulthood law will help decrease the risk of our youth underdeveloped.

Archon Margot Xedes backed by a unanimous vote in both chambers of the Synedrio issues an ultimatum to Ralzawr about respecting the rights and status of international representatives and foreign citizens and nationals in the nation. The restrictions and suspension of freedoms. The death of the Grand Duke is a national tragedy but the death of a singular individual should not be allowed to influence the state of normal affairs so heavily. Furthermore the Archon has announced the total closure of the Mydic Embassy at this time in protest that such acts have come to pass. The Empire has lodged a formal protest with the Ralzawr ambassador to the Empire but will not expel them.

The Mydic Empire has has ordered all Mydic citizens to exit Ralzawr and that flights will be carried out to essentially evacuate those Mydic people. The Archon left open the possibility that such an upset to the norms of international relations could be seen as non-conducive to business interests between the two nations.

Foreign Minister Maurizio Croce has summoned the Ralzwarian Ambassador to Sartoria in response to Ralzwar's decision to suspend recognition of diplomatic immunity. Following the declaration of a state of emergency in Ralzawr and with such drastic restrictions coming into place, the Union of Albany has formally requested that the government of Ralzawr reconsider such drastic actions. Acting President Wilson was briefed on the matter and responded that she was disappointed by such drastic measures that seemed out of touch with society and would be detrimental to the bilateral relations Ralzawr enjoys with the CN.

The Mydic Government overreacted to false information and would immediately rescind what it had previously stated. Instead the government echoed concerns from Ralzawr about the geomagnetic storm locally affecting their region of Vesta. With electrical systems they’re particularly at risk, their government opted to freeze society so as to allow the government to perform necessary inspections. Furthermore the death of the Grand Duke has been noted as a significant factor in such a severe reduction in freedoms such as movement.

Acting Attorney General Letitia Williams has announced that the four leading conspirators will have their trials begin next week. She also announced the Albanese government would seek the death penalty for each convicted individual. A New Congress

Basileus Intends Abdication!
Today, Leto III, Basileus of the Mydic Empire has announced his intention that on January 1, 2076 he will abdicate the mandate of the salt throne in favor of his heir and grandson, Crown Prince Philipos. The announcement comes as a shock to a nation that has looked to his steadfast leadership since 2028. Members of the Imperial Family, including the Basilissa and the Crown Prince appeared with the Basileus on the balcony of the Imperial Palace after the announcement.

The Palace confirmed the intention of the Crown Prince to ascend the throne and succeed his grandfather as Philipos I. Also announced was that Leto III will become known as Sebastos Leto, given the title Sebastos meaning August One as he retires from his Basileus title. It’s expected that the Basilissa will assume the title Sebasta Irene and the two will likely retire to their island villa of Adrino.

The nation has met the news with mixed emotions of sadness at the retirement of such a loved and respected Basileus who became like the nation’s grandfather through the tumultuous 2060s and 2070s. Elation has also been evident as many loom to the 26 year old Crown Prince, as a way for the nation to reinvigorate itself alongside a younger more diverse Synedrio led by Archon Margot Xedes.

Referendum Part II
After the new Mydic Ambassador to Albany talked with Acting President Wilson about the Egian Archipelago, Archon Xedes has introduced a bill to the Synedrio to hold the new referendum in March 2076 giving both Mydia and Albany ample time to campaign for and against the decision. Governor of the Islands, Warren Hathaway stated that island politics would be suspended until the conclusion of the referendum leading to a small council to effectively govern the islands for the time being.

The citizens of the archipelago seem determined to see the vote through with groups on both sides already mobilizing for and against. Governor Miku Yamori has, in a letter recently leaked to private media, petitioned the central government for additional powers to control growing unrest in the island chain. Among the powers were a call for additional military equipment to better arm the police force and the ability to set a curfew for “problematic areas”. The PDP continues to call for independence from the Seven Republics.

Xemptoworth heads to Vekkla

President Leemm has invited the Prime Minister to Vekkla to discuss green energy. A potential agreement to give parts for wind turbines to Vekkla in exchange for personal technology, home appliances, and paper. Acting President Wilson confirmed reports that Vekkla and Franconia had signed off on an economic agreement whereby Franconia would supply Vekkla with wind turbines for green energy in return for consumer electronics. AP Wilson stated that international trade was entirely normal and was entirely welcome between Alliance members and those in the Commonwealth like Vekkla.

She heralded the announcement as a positive step forward in international relations to heal over the dramatic rift between Franconia and Vekkla. Mydic Basileus to abdicate!
Announced today, the Mydic Emperor has announced his intention to abdicate his position in favor of his grandson and heir apparent, 26 year old crown prince Philipos. Ending his long illustrious reign of 47 years on the Salt Throne. The Acting President confirmed interest to have high ranking officials attend the coronation in January of the new Basileus though she confirmed she would be hosting the Accession Ceremonies for Majassa and Rousania as they formally become part of the Commonwealth of Nations on the same day.

The AP didn’t hesitate to say that the Basileus could have chosen a later time due to the clear conflict of scheduling interests with accession day for Commonwealth members having been announced months prior.

Basileus Leto has maintained popularity in Albany despite the post Great War enmity that befell the two former allies. During the Egian War in the early 2040s the Basileus was seen as instrumental in helping to broker a peace agreement between the Empire and the Union. Protests for Higher International Involvement

Recent protests pushing for Taehung to get involved more in the international community have severely intensified within the past few days.
