The Ascendant Stellar Federation of Auracexia is a gargantuan, socially progressive nation, ruled by Séterrhÿana Ravÿnna-Asträeva with a fair hand, and renowned for its rum-swilling pirates, museums and concert halls, and infamous sell-swords. The hard-nosed, hard-working, democratic, humorless population of 32.159 billion Aoraqet'yari hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

The large, corrupt, liberal, outspoken government juggles the competing demands of Industry, Education, and Defense. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Ser'khetyeva — Auracexia Prime. The average income tax rate is 92.7%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient Aoraqet'yari economy, worth a remarkable 5,586 trillion Aoraqet'yari Credits a year, is quite specialized and led by the Information Technology industry, with major contributions from Book Publishing, Arms Manufacturing, and Retail. Black market activity is rampant. Average income is an impressive 173,723 Aoraqet'yari Credits, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.2 times as much as the poorest.

There's more than one way to skin a diplomat, court cases mostly involve lawyers shouting questions at witnesses giving silent shrugs, home renovation projects take decades to complete, and enemy agents are generally eliminated with extreme prejudice. Auracexia's national animal is the phoenix, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to toxic air pollution, and its national religion is Aoraqetism.
