He was a Socialist than a hardcore Communist, he only alligned with the communist party to further bolster support for his coup on Karolyi. He was also widely supported by everyone despite political views due to his views against Trianon and the seperation of Csango and Székely from Hungary. He wanted to establish autonomous republics and entities while part of Hungary would have their own bureacracy and parliaments and unlike the USSR these autonomies would've been able to have their own laws and governorance styles of a socialist blanket as long as they didn't do secession without authorization.
