The Devolved Protectorate of Trhaiarch is a mammoth, orderly nation, ruled by Governor Hraic with an iron fist, and renowned for its smutty television, triple-decker prams, and punitive income tax rates. The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless population of 9.7 billion Trhaiarchians are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

The enormous, corrupt, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Administration, Education, and Law & Order. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Trhein. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 81.0%.

The frighteningly efficient Trhaiarchian economy, worth a remarkable 1,322 trillion Szchequinns a year, is mostly comprised of black market activity, especially in Retail, Uranium Mining, Tourism, and Pizza Delivery. State-owned companies are reasonably common. Average income is an impressive 136,388 Szchequinns, with the richest citizens earning 9.1 times as much as the poorest.

Smog in Trhein is so bad that fresh air bottles are sold by street vendors, cops in Trhein spend much of their time napping on a park bench next to Embassy Row, the well-off amuse themselves by organizing upstairs-downstairs stories within their second homes, and weekends are spent tilting at windmills. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Trhaiarch's national animal is the Three Toed Sloth, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its national religion is Shih.

Trhaiarch is ranked 248,971^st in the world and 6^th in The Most Gilt Republics for Safest, scoring 30.35 on the Bubble-Rapp Safety Rating.
