The hard-nosed, hard-working, devout population of 40.673 billion CIDians are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

The minute, pro-business government, or what there is of one, is effectively ruled by the Department of Industry, with Defense and Welfare not funded at all. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Saint-CID. Income tax is unheard of.

The frighteningly efficient CIDian economy, worth an astonishing 15,035 trillion Golden Shares a year, is driven almost entirely by the private sector, which is broadly diversified and led by the Automobile Manufacturing industry, with major contributions from Information Technology, Book Publishing, and Retail. Average income is an amazing 369,679 Golden Shares, but there is a large disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 1,472,118 per year while the poor average 62,532, a ratio of 23.5 to 1.
