The medium-sized government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Education, and Defense. The average income tax rate is 39.9%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The large but inefficient Sengokuan economy, worth 394 trillion bellies a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a slick, highly efficient black market in Information Technology, Cheese Exports, Door-to-door Insurance Sales, and Woodchip Exports. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is 44,794 bellies, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Black tea is only available on the black market, the government is reining in public spending, the military is researching proton packs and PK-meters to combat "unseen enemy forces", and the working classes live and die on the fields of the farming communes. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a very well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Sengoku's national animal is the marine officer, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.
