The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is 18,415 Yakitoes, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

The nation's historic treasures have been sold off to Maxtopia's "Museum of Nikatonese Artifacts That They're Too Stupid to Appreciate", artists regularly face criminal charges and art-burning parties are common, Nikaton City University is said to be the modern-day Tower of Babel, and the Messiah (formerly known as Brian) is a mayoral candidate. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown. Nikaton's national animal is the Nikatonese Snake, which is also the nation's favorite main course.
