Yea rich people are ruining democracy. Have been for centuries. But that dosent mean that destroying democracy and giving all power to a small group that will inevitably go Joseph Stalin on you is a good idea.

You don't understand. Equal means that the law treats everybody equally. This means that it shouldn't matter whether you are rich or poor, black, yellow or white. Crime is a crime. Right is right. Obligation is obligation. That everybody has the right to be and nobody had given the rich people right to kill poor people and get away unpunished, for example.
And I do think that government interventions in the economy are required to keep everything in check.
