Another week, another update! Overall we are continuing with our growth trend. We have broken the 700 nations mark once again to 719, this is an increase of 36 nations since the beginning of April. Our WA population also continues the growth trend by breaking the 300 mark to 304 with an increase of 7.

I'm not fully against capitalism, I want an economic system where the state monitors the market and stops monopolies from forming and helps small businesses grow.

whilst i could write a whole essay on why you're wrong, as for some odd reason you've come to a leftist forum to talk about capitalism, i'll leave you with a few main points of why capitalism will fail, and how it is already failing.

capitalism is not sustainable. it is a parasitic, exploitative system that plunders and takes from those who cannot defend themselves and gives to those who take. for example, the company 'Phillips' undertook a study onto the difference in productivity between American and Kenyan workers. despite it being exactly the same, the American worker earns 40x the amount of the Kenyan. one of socialisms main reason for existence is to redistribute resources amongst the international evenly. if we turn to "social democracy" we continue to pillage "third world" countries and exploit them. countries are not underdeveloped, rather overexploited.

human society and progression is a science. the way we develop is not based on individual decisions, but our collective need. slavery to feudalism to capitalism to socialism to communism. socialism is inevitable.

in your opinion, no?
the free market is the body of capitalism lol
market socialism is nothing more than a liberal anti-communist concept to cope with learning that socialism is the way forward yet being held back by the leash of western propaganda.

The main problem with capitalism is monopolies. While workers' conditions is also serious, the government can take care of that. Most small businesses, contrary to your belief, don't treat their workers like slaves. Monopolizing companies however, do, as they want to keep their monopoly and earn more profits. The same that you say could be said for state-capitalism. Socialism is not against the free-market, it is against monopolies, unfair wages and bad work conditions. Socialism is meant to allow freedom to the worker, freedom from bad wages, freedom from bad work conditions, and freedom for the people to own the means of production.

You are correct western propaganda has held back socialism and still is. Which is why if any nation went socialist it would need to ease into it through reform's anything else and I fear that would only antagonise the west and weaken any hope of socialism and be thrown back into another 70 years of tyranny. Of course this is only an opinion 👍

And the once state-owned democratic industries that are now monopolies make their way into the government and capture government positions and prevent regulatory and small-business empowering legislation from being passed, rinse and repeat.
So you don't want a private monopoly, but you are okay with a national monopoly?

I responded to that argument since I did not realize it was ad hominem but I have now just made it ad hominem. What I was saying is that he would probably call my sources "revisionist liberal propaganda"

The Dictatorship of the Catgirl of Feyrisshire

You can’t even engage with the deconstruction of your worldview (while conveniently deflecting it), so you resort to ludicrous strawmans like this.

Simply put, the underlying contradictions in capitalism why its useless to arbitrarily delineate between “private monopoly vs. small business” or “national monopoly vs. state-owned factory” is the same. Capitalism is based on the exploitation of labor to run a profit, whether small business or monopoly, or state-owned.

Even a small business needs to exploit a laborer by paying less to the laborer the value of the worker’s labor to run a profit. If a small business does not do this, it would be bankrupt or be overtaken by another business that pays its laborers less, or does the same to cut costs. (Though the anecdotes of small business workers to the cruelty of their bosses also – why the narrative of “small businesses are not exploitative” is laughably out-of-touch)

The small business, then through this cycle of profit through exploitation is inevitable that some small business will grow to form bigger bourgouisie on their own, which then makes their way into the state through regulatory capture.

Which is why its hilarious that you think that the only boogeyman that prevents anti-trust legislation is an imaginary villain (i.e bureaucrats) when in reality all are intertwined and has no difference under capitalism. Both small business and big business are linked with the state, small businesses and big business form an amorphous whole, state-owned and private enterprise is inseparable, and all of these meld with each other in reality, so “monopoly” as a problem cannot be singled out.

The systemic problem is capitalism which is based on the exploitation of labor (which is the one that leads to inevitable monopolies, private or national alike), and the reason why socialism as a solution to capitalism’s ills cannot be singled out into an absurd definition like “not against the free market but only monopolies” or even a more opaque one like “freedom from bad wages or bad work conditions”.

Gorbachev went full on capitalist, he didn't even bother with reforming socialism. I gotta admit he was probably one of, if not the, worst Soviet politicians who ever lived. Sure, Glasnost was fine and whatnot but Perestroika destroyed the Soviet economy, sent the cost of living sky high and created a clear division between the working class and rich oligarchs that continues to this day.

He could have, I dunno, stopped at Glasnost? There is this thing called democratic socialism that would have worked out much better, but he instead conformed to western consumerist pressure and let the Soviet Union collapse into authoritarian capitalist oligarch states.
