The Windy Kingdom of Noxious Air What scares me is the phrase "and the seas will boil." I can see that happening if the earth starts to fall apart and the ocean floors crack wide open and the gases rise up. When the bible was written, nobody knew how hot it was down there. |
The Union Republic of Densaner The seas will boil. The Sun will ultimately destroy this planet. I think Revelation is fascinating, I think it (or maybe parts of it) would a great mind trip of a movie, even for the non religious. |
The Arty Fish Oil Intelligence of The Voice of ARB When I was a precocious pre-teen child, I read The Book of Revelation, and it scared me to death. Especially the little afterword, which says that if you imagine things about the endtimes which are not exactly what is prophesied, it will make your suffering even worse when they arrive. The Book of Revelation is a very good example of a book which should be kept out of the hands of impressionable and/or imaginative children. |
The Union Republic of Densaner I disagree. I think it should be taught as part of religious education, but contextualized as the probable ramblings of a madman, albeit entertaining ones. |
The Windy Kingdom of Noxious Air The revelations thing always reminded me of those hellfire and brimstone preachers. As a Catholic I was mainly treated to soft, kind sermons. However, in my mid-teens we had a priest who started not only with the hellfire thing, but also that you should give more and more of your hard earned cash to the church. (I lived in an inner city working class neighborhood--the paycheck to paycheck kind.) I gave up my faith right then and there. (Came back to it tentatively later after my first child was born and I wanted her to be anointed.) |

The Windy Kingdom of Noxious Air Shocking how many don't know Rocky Sullivan. Do the names James Cagney or Pat O'Brien ring a bell? |
The Arty Fish Oil Intelligence of The Voice of ARB Get over it. There are people who are not into cinema in any significant way, and there is nothing even slightly shocking about that. If, as I suspect, you have never heard of Edgar Froese, this shocks me not in the slightest, and it does not lower my opinion of you in any way. |
The Windy Kingdom of Noxious Air Did you really think I was serious? That would be a rare occurrence, my friend. |
Hi. I wanna know if the poll has a connection to Home Alone. |
Not really. Growing up I wasn't really into mobster movies, nor were my parents. Dorig |
The Union Republic of Densaner I preferred ‘Yankee Doodle Dandy’ to all that gangster crap he did, he was a song and dance man at heart. I liked the score to ‘The Keep’ that Tangerine Dream wrote / performed. |
The Windy Kingdom of Noxious Air That's what he always said about himself. And that was what he got the Academy Award for. Although he was nominated for "Angels with Dirty Faces." My nephew was born on Cagney's BD: July 17. But his parents couldn't name him James because that's his older brother's name. |
The Fried Head of A Down and Dusky Blonde It's where he got his start. George M. Cohan specifically chose Cagney to play him in ‘Yankee Doodle Dandy’. The funniest film that Cagney and Bogart were in together was the western 'The Oklahoma Kid'. Densaner, Holly United, and Americatain |
I know it’s been awhile but hey what’s up |
Hey y'all |
The Windy Kingdom of Noxious Air The Oklahoma Kid: the first and only time Cagney played in a western. But not the only time he did comedy. I particularly liked "The Bride Came C.O.D." with Betty Davis. |
