Martha Prescott at a rally in Columbia City said that should she win re-election then she would personally deliver a request to the World Society stating the intent of the Union to pursue a permanent seat on the Security Council citing the position of the Union in the global economy as well as as nominal head of the Commonwealth of Nations. President Prescott also made sure to note that it would only be right given the rehabilitation of the Union over the last half century as well as that two nations from AeroCom and two from the VA are permanent members and that it should be seen as a compromise for the Union to be given a seat either for itself or on behalf of the CN.

The President also announced a plan to unify the selective service requirements and allow women to be drafted in times of extreme circumstances. This comes as members of the Green Libertarian party have pressed her administration on the matter saying equality under the law means equality on the front line. Another measure that President Prescott has taken up, bucking her own party in the process, is the siding with the government of the State of Tannen in the creation of a new marine preserve called the Pilea Ocean Preservation of their coast. Those in the Union Party who disagree with the creation argue it will close off valuable mineral deposits on the seabed as well as fish populations. Environmentalists and Scientists are thrilled at the official support received by the President.

Also in the news is that the launch of the Nightlight Space Telescope is still on track for October 31st, the Director of NAASA (National Amerigan Aeronautics and Space Administration) has stated that she expects the launch to be a success and hopes that attendees enjoy the view from the observation floor.
