This week I saw a Fender Noventa Stratocaster, and the color? "Crimson Red Transparent". Also played an Ibanez Artcore semi-hollow. Nice guitar, except it had flatwound strings on it, which I'm not fond of. I'll keep looking. I keep coming back to strat style guitars. I think I should pay attention to that preference. I'm thinking I should check out a Prestige next. I put on Regular Slinky's instead. Like the Bill Bruford solo album title said, "Feels Good To Me". The local music store has a $3500 Steve Vai designed guitar on order. They gave me quite the compliment. I told them I've been learning "For The Love of God" which resulted in dropped jaws. "If you can play that, you're one of the best in the Northwest...." *drops mic* The guitar on order is a newer version of the one Steve's playing here. While I think the sound on the new model is better (more range, fuller bass end, modified mid-range), I don't think it's worth an extra $2k. I could just put those same new pickups ($150 each) in a less expensive guitar and sound just as good. Or just get the older model he's playing. You'll need to down-tune your guitar to play this one.
