Turco-Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
A cordial clarification for the Cuban Ministry, our capital is currently the city of Kyustendzha/Konstantsa (RL Consța). We are currently constructing a new capital called Bulgargrad, which is currently partially operational as our capital city. In light of this we suggest the main embassy be located in one of these two cities. On the other hand we would be happy to welcome a Cuban consultate in Bucharest, which is the Regional Capital of the Autonomous Romanian Province of Bucharest. After all, we already have some diplomatic relations happening in the city such as with the FEUSSR. On other matters, would Cuba be open to starting any trade deals with Turco-Bulgaria. The major exports our nation can offer are cars, manufactured goods, and cereals. We would also be happy to invest in Cuban development if there is any project the government has open to foreign investors. We look forward to the Cuban government’s response and are receptive to any trade offers that it might make in turn. |
Indonesia Formalizes Status of Refugees Following the wake of the second World War, many nations signed the convention on the status of refugees to provide meaningful homes and directions for refugees of future conflicts so as to avoid becoming stateless and without protections. However, Indonesia did not sign this convention and lacks any domestic legislations providing refugees rights sich as the right to employment, permanent residency or citizenship. As of 2022 there were 195,000 registered refugees temporarily living in Indonesia, most hoping for resettlement elsewhere. Notably, about 175,000 of these refugees are Rohingya Muslim peoples, with the remaining 20,000 coming from various surrounding nations seeking asylum or refugee status for whatever reason. Due to Indonesia's lack of legislation regarding refugees, the vast majority of refugees entering Indonesia use it as a transit hub to get to their preferred destination. However, it rarely takes less than a minimum of 2 years and as long as 11 years to complete. This massive time range forces refugees to make homes in Indonesia while living in precarious circumstances of poverty, unsanitary living conditions and no access to education. These circumstances have a negative effect on their health, including their mental health. The precarious circumstances that refugees live in in Indonesia has long been under fire and intense criticism by all sides. Notable population centers in Pekanbaru, Palembang, Melaka, and Kuala Lumpur have played host to the refugees whose status seems to perpetually remain in limbo, that is until today. The Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly under the Center-Left coalition has broken ground in a historical moment as they passed legislation, granting permanent residency, the right to work, right to seek Indonesian citizenship, legal protections, housing, and an administrative body to oversee it all. Once leaving the Indonesian Legislative, the bill was signed into law by President bin Rayyan just an hour ago this morning, effectively ending decades long uncertainty on how Indonesia is to handle its burgeoning refugee population. Several years ago, Indonesia began undertaking massive development projects to modernize the city of Sorong, Irian Jaya province. Several billion dollars were invested into upgrading and providing new roads, a rail network connecting the city to Merauke and Jayapura, water treatment plants, large scale housing and public space development, telecommunications, as well as massive upgrading the existing port. Additionally, Surabaya shipyards began expanding operations into Sorong, privately building up its own shipyards in addition to assisting state run shipyards. Generous donations from the Far Eastern Union and Lábyrnna have assisted with this megaproject. However, populating the expanding city has been a challenge for Jakarta. With this new programme, the vast majority of the refugee population including the 175,000 strong Rohingya population will be relocated to Sorong and provided housing. Government officials will help to allocate fitting occupations to the relocated population, and classes teaching Bahasa Indonesia will be provided to the relocated populations free of charge; additionally, all relocated peoples will be seen by medical professionals to assess physical and mental health and begin treatment for existing conditions immediately. It is estimated that 97% of the Rohingya population will apply for Indonesian citizenship as the nation itself is already extremely diverse and a majority Muslim, similar to the Rohingyas. It is the hopes of the Indonesian government that this decision will not only help the refugee population, but also to populate Sorong and provide much needed economic growth in the nation's East. The People's Media Agency/人民媒社/인민미디어대행사/ピープルズメディアエージェンシー/Агентство народных СМИ Dozens arrested, hundreds under investigation in anti-corruption probe SHUNTIAN — The People's Investigatory Service (MOI-PIS) has announced a swathe of new investigations into members of the Far Eastern Unionist Party (FEUP) as part of a wider crackdown on corruption in the public sector. The MOI-PIS said in a statement that it had removed over 30 party members from government posts and is currently investigating the activities of over 400 public servants. The Governor of the Far Eastern Reserve Bank, the Union's central banking institution, was led out of his offices in handcuffs this morning due to suspected violations of laws and discipline. Media reports suggested that the Governor had passed on insider information to overseas investors who later gained unfair advantages over other investors, with other reports stating that these "overseas investors" had links to transnational criminal syndicates. 4 of his aides and advisors were also implicated. Another 40 officials received heavy penalties, including suspensions and other forms of disciplinary action. Seijin Kyō, one of the two Vice Chairpersons of the Executive Committee of the Congress of Peoples, stated that the Party needed to do more to address corruption within its ranks, before pointing to the recent arrests as evidence of private businesses wielding too much power over public life. Argentine Antarctica - "Marambio. Tango 01, comenzando aproximación final." - "Copiado, Tango 01." The Il-76 of the Argentine Air Force approached the airport of Marambio Base at a slower-than-usual speed for its landing approach. Meteorological conditions had rapidly deteriorated in the last 20 minutes of the flight, and visibility had been notoriously reduced. Luckily for everyone aboard, the crew managed to align the plane correctly with the graded earth runway illuminated by strobe lights. All passengers cheered on the pilots, some even promising to buy them a round of drinks after lunch. When the large aircraft slowed down to a full stop, a group of 30 soldiers - men and women - quickly approached and stood formed in a straight line, near one of the doors. The flag carried by one of them fluttered furiously in the rough antarctic wind. As the final passenger left the plane, another command by the Vicecommodore could be heard. "Saludo uno". The servicemen and women saluted and returned the greetings of their Commander-in-chief as he set foot in the southernmost part of the country. "Sr. Presidente, bienvenido a la Antártida Argentina." uttered Vicecommodore Huatriquel, approaching Guillermo Bermejo before saluting and shaking hands with him. "Gracias Vicecomodoro." the President replied. "Descansen" he said to the soldiers, who in turn broke their formation. "Let's go inside, I'm freezing my butt off. Now I know why Presidents don't visit here.", he added, eliciting a laugh out from the soldiers. Inside the large main hall of the base, another 45 people awaited, most of them belonging to the Argentine Antarctic Institute or the Air Force. After customary greetings, everyone sat down at the large tables, waiting for lunch. Dishes came through the kitchen door filled with locro, a thick stew traditionally served on such an important day for the country. "Guillermo, the pilots said that we should hurry and that we can't stay for pleasantries after lunch. Weather reports say that it'll keep getting worse and we have to leave as soon as we can if we want to be at Esperanza Base before sunset." said an assistant to the President. "Alright" the President simply replied. Shortly after 1 o'clock, the President and his entourage apologised to the personnel of the base for not being able to stay a little longer and said their goodbyes. Outside, the Il-76 had already been parked inside a large orange hangar. A Mi-8 awaited on the runway, the pilots starting to ignite its engines. As soon as the President was on board, the helicopter took off toward Esperanza Base, a little more than 90 kilometers away. The weather had started to become increasingly unpredictable, provoking turbulences during the last legs of the flight. Still, President Bermejo along with the rest of the people aboard the helicopter arrived safe and sound at Esperanza Base. Winds were too strong and cold outside, and all sunlight was nearly gone from the sky, so only 3 officers awaited at the heliport to greet the President. "Mr. President. I'm Major Pedro Álvarez. Welcome to Base Esperanza. You and your people go inside the school, we'll stay here a bit longer to cover the engines." Upon their entrance to the school, the President and other guests were enthusiastically cheered on by the personnel and their families who lived on the base. 75 people including 15 children formed what was the only Argentine base in Antarctica which looked and functioned more as a civilian town than a collection of scientific facilities. A variety of warm beverages were waiting for those who had recently arrived and for the officers that had just gone outside. NPR Segment "The recent speech given by the British Prime Minister during a Joint Session of Congress truly inspires me on many levels. Firstly, his mention of of the world at large, how once again, even after the Alpine War, Europe once more burns in the fires of war. The Middle East, now under the control of a nation that though we are still friendly with, its motives still unclear in the eyes of many Americans. South America, a continent that has so far escaped the bloody history of Europe and the rest of the world, now taking its rightful place in the grand scheme of things. Asia and Africa, two regions that are mired in corruption and languish in poverty. And our own homeland, though its own history still haunts it, we strive to better our lives and repent for the sins of our forefathers. Secondly, that the rich history between out Mother country, though we have styled ourselves as the Rebel Son, we work together with both Britain and Canada, our cousins to the north to make the world a brighter and better place. Our science is unmatched, our industry robust and firm as ever, our economy and traditions still strong, forged over 80 years of hardship and toil since the dark days on the Second Civil War. The Central African Reneissance Project A key flagship policy of President Osendé Kimbangu has been his plan to begin a process of rapid development and economic growth in the Union of Central Africa. In a speech to the National Assembly today, he announced that the rail development projects undertaken by SAARDI are now well underway and will act as the first stepping stone in a new scheme known as the CENTRAL AFRICAN RENEISSANCE PROJECT, a series of economic investments (including external and internal), large-scale infrastructure projects and the establishment of new industries to begin what is being described as a 10-year plan to grow the central african economy and turn our union into a true player in not just the African Continent, but across the world. One of the major projects under consideration includes a few projects across the Congo River, including confirmed efforts to construct the Grand Inga Dam (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Inga_Dam) and create a series of Canals across the Congo to connect the navigable portions of the river. This would also include cooperation with the government of Cameroon to discuss plans for an expansion of these projects to take part in a wider scale project to replenish Lake Chad in the north by redirecting water from the Ubangi River (the largest tributary of the Congo), or through a new inland waterway connected to the Congo Directly), however this project is still largely in the early planning stages (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Chad_replenishment_project). However, the first step to be announced is a plan for a large-scale redevelopment of the city of Diawara, into a true "Capital City of Africa". It is our hope to completely redesign the Central African Capital from the ground up, turning Diawara into a truly grand city rivalling those of the developed world while maintaining local landmarks and centers of government so that we may preserve our history while continuing to look towards the future. It is hoped that with a revitalised capital and the establishment of new connections inland, this will allow for easier development of the interior to truly develop our union into a modern nation. Despite being the largest city in Africa in terms of population, the city of Diawara is beginning to fall into disrepair as local developers are unable to keep up with the rapid growth of the city. a substaintial portion of the population remain in poverty and access to basic utilities such as water and electricity is sparse, with blackouts being a regular occurance in large parts of the city. In additon, Transport infrastructure has long been falling into disrepair and the only connection across the Congo currently being a ferry service means transport across the two sides of the city is difficult. Shantera Infinian Chess, also known under its Amharic name Shenterej, is quite a different game from regular chess. Famously described as Infinian Chessmaster Peter Yushenko as "Give up all preps, all ye who enter the field of Shantera," the Infinian chess game has developed itself to be a bit more chaotic than the European chess game. Variations of chess are far from uncommon. All over the world and during all eras of human civilization, people have played chess differently. Some variations are certainly a bit more outlandish than others. In China, Xiangqi is played on the intersection between the squares, rather than the squares itself. In some European collections, the game has expanded to include way more pieces, sometimes even terrain. However, the Infinian variant is the only variant to be chess without turns. Well, only the first phase, anyway. In Infinian Chess, players start by mobilizing their pieces. They can freely move any pieces without waiting for the opponent. Shantari used to be mostly popular in the Infinian north, in the Ethiopian and Infinian courts. Nowadays, it's almost entirely forgotten, with only some people playing it on the street. However, the Infinian Ministry of Science, Education and Culture has announced it will launch a major campaign to promote the game as a part of Infiny's unique cultural heritage. This includes official Shantera clubs, cultural associations and nationally sponsored tournaments. The ministry invites broadcasters and international chess clubs interested in this variant to visit Malao, where the first modern Shantera tournament shall be organized.
