Greetings, fellow friend! You are here, in a place where the government is open, and we don't take things super seriously.
"Good question", our omnipotent dispatch responds.
Boring, right? That's where we come in.
Most, if not all, of these regional functions involve becoming Edocan.
It's quick, easy, and mostly painless. See this for help:

Ensure your nation has a valid e-mail in your settings. You need this to join the WA.
Go to the World Assembly page and click "Apply to Join". Despite the wording, the site lets all applicants join.
Check your email for a message from NationStates. Click the link provided and admit your nation to the WA.
Go to our Delegate's nation and endorse it. The button is near the bottom of the page. Repeat this for our Ranger.
After that, you're done! You become Edocan once Anakona makes the ritual "Bad Pun With Your Nation Name" RMB post.
If you need an exception to this rule, you must contact Anakona or Los Glaciares in advance.

Edoca is full of kind, welcoming folk. Our goal is to offer new and old NSers a great region to call home.

3. Go Further Beyond: Our Discord
The fact is that most NationStates regions' activities mostly take place on Discord.
Edoca is no different (Even if we desire to be a bit more on-site). It's simply easier to communicate with regionmates and leadership this way. Plus, it makes us more tightknit.

Claiming a territory

To claim a territory follow these steps:
Download the current map image file (you'll find it on top of this dispatch)
Using any image editor, circle approximately what zone of the map you want your nation to occupy. It must be on land and not owned by any other nation.
Send a telegram to Los Glaciares with the following information:
CIRCLED ZONE: The image you edited, uploaded to any online picture sharing website (I recommend usingcatbox)
CAPITAL CITY: Your capital city's name. If left blank, the cartographer will display it on the map as '[YOUR NATION] City'
NATURAL RESOURCE: The resource to be generated on your nation's territory. Get creative! you can pick anything from oil to leather.
SPECIALTY: Industry (easier trading and natural resource extraction/harvesting), military (you'll start with a larger army), something else you think your nation should be renowned for (e.g.: sailing) or none. Our flexible RP allows for anything you choose to have an actual effect. This means, for example, you can develop a small military with advanced weapons in case you choose industry.
INTRODUCTION (OPTIONAL): It'll be your presentation, generally written as a tourism ad. You can write about anything related to your nation, and it can range from sentences to paragraphs.
RP PINGS: y/n (do you want to be pinged regarding roleplay notices/updates? You can opt out anytime by telegramming Los Glaciares)
Once you're done, the cartographer will get back to you as quickly as possible to tell you your claim status. If your claim is accepted, your territory will be added to the map, and you'll be part of the regional RP. If your claim is rejected, the cartographer will tell you why and you'll be free to apply again.
Regional Government
Edoca features an open legislative branch (Congress) and executive branch (Directory).
Congress writes bills, approves appointees and everything lawmaking related.
the Directory executes laws, engages in daily running of the region and of its affairs.
Becoming a member of both is easy.
Congress is the legislative branch of the government of Edoca. It creates the laws of our region and checks the executive. The Edocan Congress is a great option for Edocans who enjoy simulating government.
Congress is awarded the following powers:
Write and pass laws and modify/revoke previous legislation
Modify the founding laws of Edoca
Nominate or confirm positions in government

NOTE: Except in a noticeable shortage of members, those who lead a Secretariat in the Directory may not be apart of Congress. Those who simply engage in work for a Secretariat (e.g. Being an ambassador to a region) may be a Member of Congress.

The Directory is the executive branch of the government of Edoca. It involves itself in the day-to-day running of the region and in multiple of Edocan affairs.
The Directory is split into a cabinet and four Secretariats, each with their own Secretary:

Composed of a President and all Secretaries
The President is tasked with reviewing legislation from Congress
Secretaries discuss regional progress and what can be done to better Edoca
Collaborate with the Prime Minister for a unified Edocan government
Hopefully not form a cabal

Moderation of the RMB and/or Discord
Welcoming new nations
Recruiting for the region
Publishing communications intended to be read by Edocans
Secretariat of Foreign Affairs
Sending ambassadors to other regions
Handling negotiations with other regions and organizations
Publishing communications intended to be read by non-Edocans
Secretariat of Roleplay (Affairs)
Direct the roleplay and ensure people aren't getting offtrack
Maintain engagement and recruit new roleplayers
Write recommendations for current proposals at vote
Collaborate together to propose resolutions for the WA
Promote WA membership, endorsing the delegate and being more interested in the WA
You can pick and choose what you want to do in a Secretariat; You don't need to participate in every single function of one, nor feel like you have to hand over an obscene amount to time to be active in the Directory.
How do I become a member of the Directory?
NOTE: Members of Congress may participate in the Directory in every area except the Cabinet; They will then have to pick between their membership in Congress or vying for high Directorial office.
Being a general member of the Directory is easy; apply to join the Secretariat you are interested in. You may be a member of multiple Secretariats.
Vying to become the President is done through regional vote; vying to become a Secretary is done through nomination and confirmation by Congress.
