Founding
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

The year was 2014. The month was like, October, or something. Fledgling NationState Abidawe had grown tired of failing time and again to find a region to call home and resolved to instead found his own; and thus, The Confederation (now under new ownership), was born.

Now, I know what you’re saying, “but Abi, The Confederation and The Commonwealth Federation are two completely different places.” And to that I say, “shut up, I’m telling a story here.”

So, The Confederation began to take shape rather quickly. The young, and ignorant Abidawe of 2014 did not quite place the possibility that the name of his newfound region could be mistaken for that of one formed in honour of the Confederate States of America; though, in time, he would. His home grew quicker than he could have ever dreamt (though NSDossier confirms it grew significantly slower than he remembers), reaching a population of fifty nations by January of the following year. A handful of delegates would pass (The World Conquestors, Abidawe, Nouvel Acadie, Atacomia, Abidawe) and then another significant nation in our region’s long and illustrious history would join our ranks.

The nation count of the region now climbing up over the storied 100 nations mark, Vichtander proposed a merger of his region The Constitutional Confederation into The Confederation. Very shortly after this merger, Vichtander found himself the WA Delegate of this now burgeoning region. The seat was passed around once more for some time (from Morisco, to Abidawe, to Eastern Washingtonia, to Normanshire and then back to Vichtander once more). Not much of note happened during this period of our region; an uncharacteristically peaceful time in a story plagued with discord. After a pair of additional nations (Dumia and Cre Drago) shuffled the role of Delegate with Abidawe and Vichtander; our founder decided it might be time for him to call it a career.

The Name Change
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

There are many reasons why an organisation might decide to undergo a rebranding campaign. Perhaps the former name has developed an association with an ideology they wish to distance themselves from (take Campuchea for example). Of all of these potential triggers, it is the least likely that proved to be the driving factor; in their refounding efforts to transfer ownership to Vichtander, The Black Riders had seemingly taken note of their plans and beat them to the punch.

It is July of 2016. We now enter the briefest iteration of our region in the founding of Commonwealth Federation. Our heroes have now learned their lesson, and put the role of founder in a puppet nation, that of Commonwealth Federation Admin (the most creatively named founder in all of NationStates history) to be shared between the Admins; blatantly ignoring the advice of Max Berry in his “how to run a region” FAQ.

After many of our longer-standing members pass the Delegacy around for a short period, we encounter another influential member in our region’s history in Frezland. It should be said that he has been around for some time prior to this point, also migrating over from The Confederation, though this serves as the first sign of his future importance to our region. He serves out the remainder of this iteration’s history as WA Delegate before it is refounded as a jump point under Abidawa, one of the many uniquely-named puppets of Abidawe.

A New Home
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

Due to waning numbers in the August days of Commonwealth Federation, the administration decided it was a less than terrible idea to merge themselves into another region: Allied Federation of Nations. The AFN had a well-established, albeit small, community under the guidance of Bubbalania, Gotesbourg, Souten Sheld, and their Ministry.

Shortly after his arrival Abidawe found himself in charge of recruitment for this fledgling region, and he took his job seriously. His early success was the toast of the Security Council, but not everyone in the region was fond of his presence. West Drasnia had developed a significant enmity towards Abidawe, the reason behind this is also lost on him, but it did lead to several rather interesting developments in this stage. As Allied Federation of Nations continued to grow steadily, Vichtander found his way back into our ranks.

It was at this juncture, and after noting West Drasnia’s conspiracy to unseat Gotesbourg, the long-standing Delegate, that Vichtander and Abidawe decided to make a go at the seat themselves. Despite Vich’s vaster experience by way of regional administration, they decided that Abidawe should serve as the face of this coup d’etat (due to his popularity amongst the region’s population. After an immensely successful run at the Delegacy, masked as an effort to protect against West Drasnia’s, Gotesbourg chose to back Abidawe rather than take back his position. The Security Council was expanded to include the new Delegate and the region continued to prosper under Abidawe’s recruitment tactics (though they were incredibly rudimentary even for the time).

But then there was the second coup d’etat. A new member, Pentarora, had become incredibly popular through RP and OOC interaction within the region and West Drasnia seemed very pleased about this. He began a campaign against the current regime, one promoting a candidate who was unaware of his own consideration. Words of Deniable Operations, an organisation which, to this day, has never been proven to have ever existed, scared those more apathetic to change in the region into support and the young politician found himself the Delegate of a thriving region.

Of all of the reasons to refound a historically successful region under a new name, one of the dumbest would be to add simply the word “the”; but nobody ever accused Abidawe of being intelligent. Instead of using the Commonwealth Federation (which had been preserved for some time at this point), The Commonwealth Federation was founded for the first time. Many of the friends he had made in Allied Federation of Nations had tagged along for this glorious experiment; Pentarora, The arks, Souten Sheld and Spexico.

It was around this time that Abidawe founded the NationStates Intelligence and Defense Coalition
