The Vesuvian Guide to Maintaining a Region
The Vesuvian Guide to Maintaining a Region
This guide is meant for anyone who does not feel comfortable with refounding regions, but it is a suggested read for all new members. We are going to start with some FAQs
How do I even found a region?: This is the most vital part, so let us take it step by step
1)Go to the region page of the region you are in. You can do this by finding your region’s name on your sidebar.
2)Scroll down slowly until you see, in tiny letters, “Tired of life in [insert your region name here]?”
2a) Click on that message, and it will bring you to a page. Click found a new region.
3) Type in the title of your region, and a short description (you can edit this later) and uncheck the Delegate powers, at least for now
What is the difference between founding a region and refounding a region?: Well, the simple answer is that refounding is founding, but using the name of a region that has died. It is essentially bringing back this dead region under your power. Founding is creating new regions, refounding is reviving old ones that have died. Remember: You can’t create two regions with the same name, or create a region with the same name as an existing one
O.K, I created my region. What should I not do?: This is very important. There are many things you can do, but you should definitely know what you shouldn’t do. The number one thing: Do not leave your region. This is crucial for you to stay in power. Otherwise, at the next update (usually around 12 a.m and 12 p.m), your region will either
If there are no more nations in the region, the region will die
If there are still nations in the region, it may be attacked and taken over by large military groups called raiders
So, don’t leave your region that you just founded.
The second thing is giving executive powers to the delegate. This can be turned off by going to Administration, and un-checking all of the powers given to the delegate, or unchecking Delegate executive power when founding the region. The reason this is important is if the Delegate is executive, it is Christmas for the raider groups. They will be able to easily attack your region and you will lose power.
Note: These raiders attack by taking advantage of game mechanics, so there is no way to “defend” against them by yourself (You can’t use your statistical military)
Third, do not leave your nation idle for more than 30 days. This means you have to check on it every 30 days at minimum, or your nation will die. What happens if your nation dies? You guessed it. Your region dies or gets swept up by raiders. It is a good habit to check on your nation(s) on a regular schedule.
Other than these three things, most other adverse actions can be reversed easily. So go have some fun!
I joined this Vesuvian Empire thing, so what do I do?: To get started, move a puppet into Omega Royal Order Base. A puppet is another nation that is also controlled by you (remember, they both can’t be in the WA, that is cheating and you will be banned from the WA, personal experience). This puppet, at least for our purposes, should have some resemblance to your real nation, maybe in its name, flag, or motto. Once you do this, state your original nations name and your original nation’s region. Once you do this, you will receive a telegram giving instructions. Once you follow these instructions, you will become part of the Vesuvian Empire.
I don’t have to move my real nation anywhere to join the Empire?: No, you don’t. Your real nation can be part of any region you want (unless it is communist). Only your puppet has to move (and eventually found a region). You simply have to check on this puppet every week or perhaps more frequently, as we love active members.
I still don’t get it….: Perfectly fine. Simply telegram Night regime and ask your questions. We are all happy to help.
Thank you for reading! And enjoy your NationStates experience!
