The United Republic of Zeritae is a titanic, genial nation, ruled by Minare Johanson with a fair hand, and notable for its frequent executions, national health service, and keen interest in outer space. The compassionate, democratic population of 20.069 billion Zeritans are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whomever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

The enormous, liberal government juggles the competing demands of Education, Environment, and Administration. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Renaek. The average income tax rate is 96.8%.

The frighteningly efficient Zeritan economy, worth a remarkable 3,027 trillion Derndis a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is highly specialized, is led by the Information Technology industry, with major contributions from Tourism and Book Publishing. Average income is an impressive 150,849 Derndis, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Wars of expansion are described as "peacekeeping operations", the military maintains a fierce arsenal of 'Cure Missiles', ride-sharing often involves some passengers sitting on the roof rack, and military equipment stores have a tendency to go up in flames. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Zeritae's national animal is the Harakell, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

Zeritae is ranked 330,897^th in the world and 1^st in Nitrepza for Largest Insurance Industry, scoring -22.14 on the Risk Expulsion Effectiveness Rating.
