The Federal Republic of Xos is a colossal, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Zarn with an even hand, and notable for its stringent health and safety legislation. The hard-nosed population of 3.368 billion Xosians enjoy extensive civil rights and enjoy a level of social equality free from the usual accompanying government corruption.

The medium-sized, socially-minded government prioritizes Defense, with Education, Administration, and Law & Order also on the agenda. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Zantaria. The average income tax rate is 30.8%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The sizeable but sluggish Xosian economy, worth 52.8 trillion Credits a year, is broadly diversified and dominated by the Tourism industry, with significant contributions from Furniture Restoration, Book Publishing, and Cheese Exports. Black market activity is notable. State-owned companies are common. Average income is 15,679 Credits, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Zarn has just been declared ruler of Xos in an international press conference, Xos has designated Zantaria as its capital city, roads are littered with memorials for roadkill, and the nation's healthcare system has taken a "survival of the fittest" approach in administering care. Crime is well under control, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Xos's national animal is the Arknarus, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its national religion is Polytheism.

Xos is ranked 209,414^th in the world and 5^th in Sagittarius Arm for Largest Trout Fishing Sector, scoring 161.37 on the Nemo Depletion Efficiency Index.
