The cynical population of 8.726 billion Sakazukians are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The large, moralistic, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Industry, Administration, and Public Transport. The average income tax rate is 45.5%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The strong Sakazukian economy, worth 502 trillion bellies a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a slick, highly efficient, quite specialized black market in Tourism, Arms Manufacturing, Information Technology, and Pizza Delivery. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is 57,598 bellies, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Immigrants are required to salute the flag five times a day, victims of limb-mauling industrial accidents are told to keep working with their remaining hand, 4-year-olds are often found reminiscing about the 'good old days', and retiring citizens are dragged away in the middle of the night by mysterious men in black suits. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Sakazuki's national animal is the marine officer, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.
