The Republic of Riesling is a massive, safe nation, remarkable for its burgeoning dolphin population. The democratic population of 1.615 billion Rieslingians are highly moralistic and fiercely conservative, in the sense that they tend to believe most things should be outlawed. People who have good jobs and work quietly at them are lauded; others are viewed with suspicion.

The medium-sized government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Law & Order, and Education. The average income tax rate is 24.3%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The sizeable but inefficient Rieslingian economy, worth 71.2 trillion dollars a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Pizza Delivery industry, with major contributions from Automobile Manufacturing, Woodchip Exports, and Information Technology. State-owned companies are common. Average income is 44,094 dollars, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.4 times as much as the poorest.

Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Riesling's national animal is the dolphin, which can occasionally be seen avoiding garbage in the nation's murky oceans.

Riesling is ranked 42,629^th in the world and 5^th in Beastland for Largest Pizza Delivery Sector, scoring 4,003.36 on the Pepperoni Propulsion Productivity Index.
