The Disputed Territories of Pulmonem is a huge, safe nation, remarkable for its compulsory military service. The democratic, devout population of 785 million Pulmonemians have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The large government prioritizes Spirituality, with Welfare, Defense, and Education also on the agenda. The average income tax rate is 44.6%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The sizeable but inefficient Pulmonemian economy, worth 29.0 trillion guilders a year, is led by the Book Publishing industry, with major contributions from Information Technology, Door-to-door Insurance Sales, and Trout Farming. State-owned companies are reasonably common. Average income is 36,908 guilders, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.3 times as much as the poorest.

The mining industry is making inroads into environmentally sensitive areas, the government recently donated a surfboard to an impoverished family in a landlocked region, the tenet of free speech is held dear, and any body part that can be cut off a person is no longer considered to be their property. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Pulmonem's national animal is the dove.

Pulmonem is ranked 135,665^th in the world and 3^rd in Yanxi for Most Extensive Public Healthcare, scoring 1,276.63 on the Theresa-Nightingale Rating.
