The Republic of Ostrusa is a titanic, cultured nation, remarkable for its museums and concert halls, strictly enforced bedtime, and absence of drug laws. The hard-nosed, hard-working, devout population of 11.695 billion Ostrusans have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The relatively small government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Administration, and Spirituality. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 19.3%.

The very strong Ostrusan economy, worth 862 trillion marks a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Tourism industry, with major contributions from Arms Manufacturing, Retail, and Information Technology. State-owned companies are common. Average income is 73,717 marks, but there is a significant disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 228,319 per year while the poor average 18,337, a ratio of 12.5 to 1.

T-shirts displaying a photo of Leader performing the Full-Monty are selling out, entire families are dragged into counseling whenever children fight on a playground, minorities play dumb to get more welfare payments, and kids these days know how to throw a proper punch. Crime, especially youth-related, is almost non-existent. Ostrusa's national animal is the wolf.

Ostrusa is ranked 52,053^rd in the world and 1^st in Balugata for Highest Drug Use, scoring 272.63 on the Pineapple Fondness Rating.
