The Republic of Mandate is a huge, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its stringent health and safety legislation. The quiet, industrious population of 981 million Mandateans enjoy extensive civil rights and enjoy a level of social equality free from the usual accompanying government corruption.

The medium-sized, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Law & Order, and Welfare. The average income tax rate is 27.6%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The sizeable but sluggish Mandatean economy, worth 21.9 trillion rubledollars a year, is quite specialized and led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with major contributions from Retail, Cheese Exports, and Basket Weaving. Black market activity is notable. State-owned companies are common. Average income is 22,303 rubledollars, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Crime is almost non-existent, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Mandate's national animal is the hawk.

Mandate is ranked 215,664^th in the world and 1^st in Me4 for Most Compassionate Citizens, scoring 42 on the Kitten Softness Rating.
