The Galactic Diplomatic Hub of Grid Epsilon is a gargantuan, socially progressive nation, ruled by John Sheridan with an even hand, and renowned for its multi-spousal wedding ceremonies, ritual sacrifices, and pith helmet sales. The hard-nosed, hard-working, devout population of 25.186 billion Grid Epsilonians are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

The relatively small, pro-business government prioritizes Defense, with Education, Industry, and Healthcare also on the agenda, while Environment and Welfare are ignored. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Babylon 5. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 9.5%.

The frighteningly efficient Grid Epsilonian economy, worth a remarkable 4,162 trillion Earth Alliance Credits a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with major contributions from Information Technology, Book Publishing, and Gambling. Average income is an impressive 165,253 Earth Alliance Credits, but there is a vast disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 1,267,824 per year while the poor average 5,809, a ratio of 218 to 1.

The nation's once beautiful countryside have turned brown as farmers spray potent pesticides, citizens are allowed to rise or fall based on their own merits, owning a tractor is widely regarded as an essential prerequisite to most government positions, and airport security is provided by private companies. Crime, especially youth-related, is a major problem, with the police force struggling against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Grid Epsilon's national animal is the Pakmara, which is also the nation's favorite main course.

Grid Epsilon is ranked 274,807^th in the world and 1^st in Babylon 5 for Highest Average Tax Rates, with 9.48 Effective Tax Rate.
