The hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical, humorless population of 30.751 billion Geckocidians are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

The tiny, corrupt, well-organized government is primarily concerned with Defense, although Industry, Education, and Healthcare are also considered important, while Environment and Welfare aren't funded at all. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Necropolis Spire. Income tax is unheard of.

The frighteningly efficient Geckocidan economy, worth an astonishing 19,792 trillion Gecko Eyes a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a large, well-organized, broadly diversified black market in Arms Manufacturing, Information Technology, Uranium Mining, and Retail. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is a breathtaking 643,625 Gecko Eyes, but there is a large disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 2,976,395 per year while the poor average 83,966, a ratio of 35.4 to 1.

Belligerent citizens shoot at passing clouds for 'violating their airspace', foreign heads of state have taken out restraining orders against Geckocidan ambassadors, children as young as eight can be found working in factories, and otherwise healthy people are being sent to internment camps because they have VODAIS. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, despite the fact that it is difficult to make it through a day without breaking one of the country's many laws. Geckocidron's national animal is the Gecko, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its national religion is Hatred.
