The Republic of Arundel is a mammoth, pleasant nation, renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape, restrictive gun laws, and spontaneously combusting cars. The hard-nosed, hard-working, democratic population of 9.107 billion Arundelians enjoy frequent elections, which are uniformly corrupted by big-spending corporations buying politicians who best suit their interests.

The tiny, moralistic, pro-business, outspoken government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Law & Order, and Healthcare. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 6.8%.

The strong Arundelian economy, worth 540 trillion triqs a year, is driven almost entirely by the private sector, which is fairly diversified and led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with major contributions from Furniture Restoration, Beef-Based Agriculture, and Retail. Average income is 59,385 triqs, but there is a large disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 294,286 per year while the poor average 6,795, a ratio of 43.3 to 1.

All major public areas are watched by police surveillance cameras and military spending recently hit a new high. Crime is a problem, with the police force struggling against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Arundel's national animal is the trout, which can occasionally be seen avoiding garbage in the nation's murky oceans.

Arundel is ranked 239,811^th in the world and 1^st in Baker Island for Nicest Citizens, with 10.55 average smiles per day.
