What is this? After the success of last season, the ask-me-anything (AMA) series hosted on the Regional Message Board (RMB) will resume once again, this time with a few new faces. This series is meant to allow the nations of The North Pacific to get to know their government officials more intimately. Each week, one government official will spend an hour answering any questions that are asked of them on the RMB. What kind of questions can I ask? You can ask anything as long as it appropriate for the RMB! NationStates site rules still apply. How do I ask a question? Simply head on over to the RMB during the AMA time slot, and lodge a message with your question. Please make sure to mention the government official in your message so it doesn't get missed. When does Meet the RMB take place? Meet the RMB is scheduled to take place every Saturday for the remainder of the term. The exact times may vary depending on the government official's availability. Please keep an eye on this dispatch, as it will be updated frequently. In this season there will also be a special event every Sunday where our guests will be the members of the Security Council. Who will be featured in this series? This series will be kicked off with AMAs featuring the Delegate and their Cabinet. So far, it hasn't hardly taken any time at all! Besides the brief that I filed near the beginning of the term, there has been very little business. There are similarities and differences. I would say that the similarity is that we have both done very little while in office. However, and this is why I think voters gravitated more to me, I believe that my thorough study of TNP law sets me apart from the average candidate, and my actions in office are the result of a very deliberate process which is grounded both in the law and the values that I laid out in my campaign: compassion, objectivity, and efficiency. In a recent press conference, the Supreme President of Yugobatania has announced that he has brought up plans for a space program. Various ministries and departments within Yugobatania have varying opinions. “It seems that we will explore the stars once again,” stated Markov Rubik, head of the Yugobatanian Department of Defense. “This will be a great bolster to our image, and show the world that Yugobatania isn’t just some small, measly country.” On the other hand, Rubin Gibbon, head of the Yugobatanian Department of Agriculture, and controversial feminism advocate, showed concern for it. “This is just another one of those manliness competitions to see who can outdo who. In a fast paced event like this, I am not going to assert that this is the best piece of advice I've received, because I'm probably forgetting something better. I've been playing for 14 years after all. But this is a piece of really solidly good and memorable advice that I got from Abbey when I joined TNP in 2012: if you see a problem, don't just complain about it - take action and fix it. That is what first prompted me to run for office. There are so many. For the moment, I'll go with Pulp Fiction. The Attorney General has no official obligations, per se, except to keep the oath of office (See here: https://forum.thenorthpacific.org/topic/7019276/), as all government officials must. Rather, the Attorney General has powers, which they exercise in their sole discretion. The AG has the power to submit requests for review to the Court, and has standing all such matters through virtue of holding their office. The AG also has the power to submit indictments to the Court formally accusing nations of commitment crimes, and, if the indictment is accepted, prosecute the case. I chose to run for AG because I believe that the office calls for someone with a deep understanding of the law, and the judgment to enforce it productively.
