Introduction
The Kingdom of Saint-Augustin is a parliamentary monarchy located in the New England region of North America. Saint-Augustin gained independence from the United States on April 22, 1838. Saint-Augustin is a nation dedicated to the preservation of rights and freedom for its citizens and is a member of The League.

Etymology
Saint-Augustin gets its name from an original proclamation by French explorer Samuel de Champlain in 1604. Champlain declared in latin: “Haec terra est augustinas”. This translate to “This land is great and magnificent”. The ending word, “augustinas” was adapted to the French version, “augustin”. The word “saint” was placed in front of augustin because of the nearby Saint Lawrence River. Thus, the colony Saint-Augustin was established. The name changed over time and was “Saint Augustine” under British rule. When Saint Augustine gained independence in 1838, it returned to Saint-Augustin. The standard way to refer to a citizen of Saint-Augustin is “Augustinian”.

History
The land we now know as Saint-Augustin was first settled by indigenous tribes thousands of years before European colonization. Specifically, tribes such as the Maliseet, Abenaki, Penobscot, and Passamaquoddy inhabited Saint-Augustin. The first European colony in Saint-Augustin was established in 1604 by Samuel de Champlain as a part of New France. However, this land was conquered by the British during the French and Indian War in 1758. However, the thirteen colonies gained independence from Britain in 1783. From 1783-1833, the states of New Hampshire (1783), Vermont (1791), and Maine (1820). In 1833, all the counties of Maine, as well as the Northern counties of New Hampshire and Vermont declared independence. They were recognized as independent on April 22, 1838 after the Augustinian Independence War (1833-1838). Since its independence, Saint-Augustin has remained neutral with the exception of World War I as a member of the entente.

Geography
Saint-Augustin is made up of three regions: Atlantique, Nouvelle-Hampshire, and Vermont. Atlantique has the only coastline of the nation and has rocky shores on the East near the Atlantic Ocean. In the West of the region, forests cover most of the land. Nouvelle-Hampshire is around 80% covered in forests and is only inhabited in 10% of the land area. Vermont is renowned for its high, snowy mountains. However, the largest mountain is located in Nouvelle-Hampshire, that being Mont Dubois. The Connecticut River also marks the border between Nouvelle-Hampshire and Vermont. Saint-Augustin experiences all four seasons with average precipitation.

Roman Catholicism makes up 62% of the population. Other major religions include Protestant Christianity (11%), Orthodox Christianity (7%), Islam (7%), Judaism (4%), Hinduism (2%), and Buddhism (1%). The remaining 6% is other relgions or atheism/agnosticism. The main languages of Saint-Augustin are French and English. Race is around 55% caucasian but also has major contributions from African-American (39%) and Hispanic (4%).

Government
As previously stated, the government of Saint-Augustin is a parliamentary monarchy. The prime minister, congress, and monarch share equal power. This system was established under the Constitution of 1838. Since then, one more constitution was drafted and ratified, that being the Constitution of 1908. This constitution added the congressional lower house, or the Senate. The government follows a federal format and power is further diversified into the regional governments. The checks and balances system follows that of the United States of America. The military is ran by the government as well as all foreign relations. The executive advisory and World Assembly delegates are all appointed by the acting prime minister. Proper addresses for the monarch is his/her excellency (your excellency in first person). For the prime minister, it is simply “prime minister”. For parliament members, the proper address is Member of Parliament (MP). Finally, Senate members have the addresses of congressman or congresswoman.
