I have not had a good rp in a bit and I'm bored. I also haven't been on the RMB in a while, I think you all know where this is going. Anybody in the mood for a rp?

It's just my assumption, but Republican Party was founded by Lincoln and supported slavery abolition, so I think it was the progressive liberal party of the time against the Democratic Party, which supported slavery and still uses the "conservative" blue color. Then something happened and likely switched roles.

According to Wikipedia, red only became associated with the Republicans after the 2000 election. The news channels were using it for the party for the election, and they had the electoral maps on broadcasts for weeks and weeks because of the electoral controversy of the election.

After that, it just became ingrained in the public consciousness as the colour of the GOP.
