"yikes" would be how I'd describe my GPA after this :'(

i'm also very trepidatious about moving to England, but the school is actually really good for my focus (continental philosophy)

there are essentially only a few dozen anglophone unis that do this type of philosophy so it's very nice

My course structure is:

Fall: Ethics and Normativity(aristotle, hegel, kant, plato) or World, Body, and Mind (Burge, Husserl, McDowell)
Spring: Ideology and the Political (Benjamin, Habermas, Horkheimer, Kircheimer, Marcuse, Neumann, Adorno, Hegel, Marx and Lukács) or Language, Art, and Representation (aesthetics)
Summer: thesis writing (I'm gonna write about Buddhist metaphysics and Marxism probably)

Lendenburgh maybe I’m completely wrong but I always had this impression that philosophy involved some degree of math like set theory or something. Do philosophers do proofs?

Newton, Leibniz, and Frege were all philosophers- there’s still a very large field of Philosophy of Mathematics, and calculus basically started out as philosophy, but generally now its people who come from the math side to do philosophy rather than vice versa

There’s entire ‘schools’/branches of philosophy that use first order logic to do proofs and Alain Baidou in the 90s did a whole political treatise based on set theory, so they’re very intertwined but tend to be concerned with different questions so its usually either using philosophy to answer a math question (eg. principle of the excluded middle) or using math to answer philosophy questions (Baidou’s set theory in politics)

Incidentally there's a very important bridge in Austin that was manufactured in Japan and assembled by Hyundai in the 1980s... I feel like this would be a good bit of lore to mention for our continued economic and cultural cooperation
