What does Yoon Seok-yeol’s presidency mean for South Korea?
Buoyed by support from young men in their 20s and 30s, Yoon has pledged to abolish the Ministry of Gender Equality, which since its founding in 1998 has guided national gender equality policies while providing services to marginalized women and children, including single mothers and survivors of domestic and sexual violence. As in other patriarchal societies, South Korean women face the devaluation of their productive labor and an uneven burden of reproductive labor.

Yoon’s brash endorsement of a preemptive strike on North Korea under certain conditions alarmed many observers on the campaign trail. While such antics might appeal to some voters, any attempt to follow through on such threats would have obviously catastrophic consequences.

What may prove a more pertinent question is what South Korea’s deepened economic and military alignment with the U.S. could mean for the regional balance of power, particularly as U.S. antagonism against China escalates.

Contexto Chino: What Do Chinese Citizens Say About Ukraine?
China, while maintaining its neutrality, has emphasized that the principal motivation for the crisis is NATO expansionism and its inability to recognize the legitimacy of Russia’s demands. This is a much more nuanced position than that taken in the West where they just say ‘Putin is crazy’ and ‘he wants to invade the whole of Europe’. Among Chinese people there’s been huge energetic support for Russia, there was even a movement among people to buy all the Russian products from online shops in China and everything sold out very quickly. There is also a belief that if Russia is sanctioned today then it could happen to China tomorrow, so people believe they should support Russia now.

Palestinian shot dead in Beersheba over alleged attack

A young Palestinian man has been killed in the city of Beersheba in the southern part of the Israeli-occupied territories over an alleged attack on settlers.

Some media outlets said the Palestinian youth was shot dead after he had allegedly killed four settlers, including three women and a man, in a stabbing and car-ramming attack in Beersheba on Tuesday.

Local Palestinian sources said the slain Palestinian man was a former prisoner who was held in Israeli jails, identifying him as Mohammed Ghaleb Abu al-Qian.

The instantaneity with which the entire western political spectrum was whipped into line during the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has no match, from a media-narrative-discourse point of view, in my opinion. This is so visible in this case: immediately after the Russian operation, we saw all of the signs of a manufactured narrative in something which felt quicker than real-time. Infographics, the 'Ghost of Kiev', Zelensky as 'war bae', quippy one-liners from Zelensky that read as if they are from the latest Call Of Duty installation: "I don't need a ride, I need ammunition". In a much darker vein, Pornhub's number one search is ‘Ukrainian women’, the 'refugees are welcome here' discourse from the liberals, 'anti-war' protests being staged (in reality they are pro-war and pro-sanctions).

I must disagree. While I do not necessarily like Ukraine or Zelensky, Putin is an autocratic capitalist fascist who has no place being supported in leftist circles period. His governance of Ukraine would be no better than the current one, and that is why I oppose the invasion. It was a useless, pointless war that has only resulted in the deaths of thousands of innocents. I am quite frankly appalled that people are supporting it, the enemy of my enemy is not my friend in this case.

Did you even read the post you're responding to? The link in question is using some concepts from Baudrillard (the philosopher who inspired The Matrix) to discuss how Western media unified against Russia in a way we haven't seen in years and how it has manufactured consent for this Russophobia, using appeals to morals and propaganda imagery meant to blur and misrepresent material reality. That article expressed the same support for Putin that Baudrillard's original piece about the Gulf War did for Saddam Hussein - none at all. Your response ironically demonstrates one of the points of the article - "[w]hen one tries to speak of Russia's military operation in Ukraine in power-political terms, they are called a Putin apologist or a shill for authoritarianism."

Moreover, this isn't the kind of space where you can just throw out random numbers or make moralizing appeals and expect to convince or scare us (we don't need to read Baudrillard for that!). According to the latest UN stats, a total of 977 civilians have been killed in the conflict so far, with 55 of those being civilians in liberated areas of the People's Republics (https://www.ohchr.org/en/press-releases/2022/03/ukraine-civilian-casualty-update-23-march-2022). Every one of those deaths (that wasn't an Azov or adjacent Nazi) is a tragedy - no one here is reveling in the bloodlust we see allowed for Russians on mainstream social media sites now. If you were actually interested in "both sides bad"-ing this instead of backhanded apologia for Ukraine's similarly corrupt and despotic regime that even Western media and human rights organizations acknowledged as such before this conflict you'd bring up the more the 14k civilians in the People's Republics killed by the Ukrainian government. You would condemn things like the Myrotvorets organization that has for years doxxed journalists and activists in Ukraine and led to their assassinations by fascists while the state did nothing.

Where were you condemning those deaths? This region, and the person you were replying to specifically, have supported these oppressed peoples for years and we can show it (ex: page=rmb/postid=24933132). This military intervention is certainly not "pointless" to them! These are people who've been hiding in basements for years now for simply not wanting to be part of a regime that openly and formally praises fascists and Nazi collaborators in a way unseen worldwide since Pinochet, a regime that would and has killed people with beliefs like yours and mine alike to the point of openly banning basically all leftist parties remaining recently (https://peoplesdispatch.org/2022/03/21/opposition-political-parties-banned-in-ukraine-and-unified-information-policy-imposed/). Until you can acknowledge this pervasive anticommunist/fascist influence in the Ukrainian regime and these deaths I will regard your opinions as either uncritical repetition of liberal talking points or coming from a place of hatred for ethnic Russians because clearly some deaths mean much more than others for you. I don't expect you to because then you'd have to admit that just saying both sides are similarly bad or that Putin is worse simply does not hold up to scrutiny looking at the amount of bloodshed on both sides. You certainly have no moral high ground to talk down to us.

Since the topic has been broached, let's discuss Putin and set the record straight on our point of view (or mine at least). Putin represents a Russian national bourgeoisie threatened by international capital. Although Putin hasn't gone to the extent of the Ukrainian regime in criminalizing leftist opposition, his party is still the main domestic opponent to communists in Russia. No one here as far as I know is saying Putin is a friend to us even if he has taken positions that directly benefit anti-hegemonic movements worldwide as part of conflicts with international capital. As Marx's support for progressive bourgeoisie struggling against aristocratic rule in the 1848 revolutions demonstrated, Marxists can have more complex views about capitalists and their representatives than just saying they're bad.

Ignoring the influence of the extreme right in Ukraine is dangerous
They make claims that only low percentages, 4 percent of voters in Ukraine, have backed them in recent elections so they must not be a threat. It’s a disingenuous argument because the most powerful of the right wingers, the mass-based Ukrainian Army, the country’s police departments, and the “National Guard” don’t give a hoot about elections and have rarely backed anyone in those elections. Thousands of parents in Ukraine voted for Zelensky on the one hand but send their kids to right-wing training schools where the Azov Battalion and other neo Nazis teach their children how to shoot Russians. How many of them voted for fascist candidates is not at all a full measure of the influence and power of the extreme right in the country.

The Azov Battalion-led forces and other right-wing extremists in the army, acting in the name of the Ukraine government, were so numerous in the East that they were able to kill tens of thousands of Russian-speaking civilians there since 2014. The bloody war Ukrainians everywhere in the country are experiencing now has actually gone on for a long time with death and destruction coming at the hands not of Russia, but of right-wing Ukrainians.

I hope you all know that North Korea is known for being LGBTphobic.
In the vote to include LGBT rights as human rights, North Korea along with notoriously anti-LGBTQ countries (Saudi Arabia, Iran) voted against it. So I don't think that you should say that the media "wrongly" potrays North Korea. I am free for debate though.

And so, in your view, this is something that should cause all Western leftists to drop their support for people fighting against economic enslavement, and instead to support the US State Department in their efforts to destroy Korean sovereignty?

I feel like you have relatively little practical experience at activism with workers based on some of the moralizing comments Ive seen you making, so I hate to tell you, but we move the masses from where they are, not where we want them to be. Large numbers of workers hold socially conservative beliefs, and many cultures have deeper conservative roots in their materialist histories. And if you arent prepared to support the struggles of those people against international capitalism, then you will never be effective at building a leftist movement, or at waging revolution.

Do I wish North Korea was more progressive on LGBT issues? Of course. But its hard to develop concepts related to societal openness when you have to live in a siege-state mentality because a huge portion of the world economic system is attempting to destabilize and overthrow your government. I wont even get into the guarantees of the DPRK Constitution, the fact that Western media manipulation related to the DPRK has far more than just LGBT related issues, or the concept of supporting people living under the gun of imperialism in the third world as being critical to Western leftist movements.

See my Factbook on it, "Why We Support Worker States":

In the modern period, Marxist-Leninists join with other progressive forces, to struggle for justice. Communists are involved in the struggle against racism and police brutality. Communists are involved in the struggle against low wages. Communists are involved in demanding an end to imperialist wars.

There are Communists not just in the United States, but all over the world. The world Communist movement involves hundreds of parties in nearly every country on earth.

In almost all the progressive struggles that Communists are involved in, the primary force that the workers and the oppressed are fighting against is monopoly capitalist imperialism. The small class of billionaires that runs the United States, Britain, France, and Germany, as well as other western imperialist countries, is the primary force behind all reactionary things that exist in the world.

Imperialism props up the brutal monarchist regime in Saudi Arabia, that beheads people in public, and lives through the ruthless exploitation of foreign workers. Imperialism sets up sweatshops in Bangladesh, where children are burned alive in factory fires. Imperialism funds brutal terrorists in Syria who are recruiting children, and bombing schools and hospitals.

It is the same monopoly capitalists, the same imperialists, who are driving wages down in the United States, setting up the growing prison industrial complex, and making life hell for working people here. We seek to build an alliance of all forces opposed to the deadly reality of imperialism.

Victories Against Imperialism

Often, we communists will focus on the bad. We will talk about the crimes of the imperialists. But it is also important to speak of the victories. When a boss is forced to sign a union contract, this is a victory against imperialism. When a school closing is stopped, or a political prisoner is freed, this is a victory against imperialism.

One type of victory that can be achieved is called national liberation. This means that the foreign capitalists in the western countries, the imperialists, are pushed back. It means that the country is allowed to develop independently. No longer are the imperialists sucking the wealth out of their economy, but instead, a domestic economy can be established and developed in an oppressed country.

The Islamic Revolution in Iran, was a revolution that established National Liberation. The US imperialists backed the Shah, and allowed US and British bankers to exploit the Iranian people and to steal the natural resources. But the people of Iran heroically rose up. In 1979, they drove out the Shah, and Iran’s oil is now in the hands of the Iranian state.

Many Latin American countries are currently carrying out revolutions of national liberation, joining the Bolivarian movement. Communists and Socialists are playing an important role in these events.

Sometimes, revolts and revolutions against the imperialists go even further, and don’t just drive out the foreign imperialists, but also overturn capitalist relations.

A New Kind of State

In the class given yesterday on the state, it was explained that under capitalism, the state is merely the executive committee of the ruling class. While there may be elections and other formalities, under capitalism, the real power lies with the wealthy. They own the factories, the land, the banks, the natural resources, and with control of the wealth they make from exploiting our labor, they are able to manipulate and control everything.

The US constitution was written by slave owning capitalists, and the government that currently exists, based on procedures established by that constitution, works to preserve the private property of the Wall Street billionaire class.

When working class people rise up, and seize power, and overthrow the capitalists, they cannot simply take control of the state designed by the capitalists. Instead, the workers and oppressed must, and have created their own states, or working class governments.

In a Worker’s State, the police, the army, the government bureaucracy, all serve working people. Worker’s states are usually based in community organizations, such as the Soviets in the USSR, or popular committees of some type. Through these organs of People’s Power, the working class holds power, and is able to move society toward Socialism.

With the government in their hands, working people can begin to seize the banks, the factories, the industries, the land, and the natural resources for ourselves, and re-organize the economy to serve human need.

When Karl Marx wrote about worker’s states, and the “dictatorship of the proletariat” it was only a theoretical concept. But since that time, Worker’s States have been created. The first worker’s state was the Soviet Union, created with the heroic Bolshevik revolution of 1917. The People’s Republic of China is a worker’s state. Cuba is a worker’s state. People’s Korea is a workers state. Vietnam and Laos are also worker’s states.

Building Socialism under the Gun of Imperialism

In all of these countries, it is the working class government, led by the Communist Party, that controls the government. The governments are not puppets of the billionaires, but instead are accountable to the working masses.

Of course, the capitalists have always demonized any country where workers have held power. What the things we commonly hear? “Communism is a good idea, it just doesn’t work.” Or “Socialism has failed everywhere its ever been tried.”

This is just a flat lie. The Soviet Union was an astounding economic success. The country was transformed in less than a decade from being an agrarian, impoverished country, to being an industrial power house. The life expectancy of the average person in the USSR doubled. The barren countrysides were transformed into centers of industry, where workers had housing with running water and electricity. The USSR produced more steel and more tractors than any other country on earth. The Soviet Union defeated the Nazis and Hitler, and the Soviet Union was the first country to conquer outer space. What a failure!

Cuba also leads the world in terms of the economic situation of the people. Cubans have the highest life expectancy of all the people’s of Latin America, as well as the lowest infant mortality rate.

In the former Soviet Union, in Cuba, in People’s Korea, not a single person is unemployed. Not a single person is homeless. Not a single person is unable to see a doctor when they are sick. The capitalists, even in the richest countries of the world, who have so much wealth from the people of the world, cannot even provide this.

However, the worker’s states that exist do not exist in isolation. They exist within a world capitalist economy. As a result, they are forced to fight every day for their survival against the monstrous imperialists, who seek to overthrow them. In addition, they all began the construction of socialism, in conditions of extreme poverty.

There has not been a single moment in the history of the Cuban revolution, that the revolution has not been under extreme attack from the US imperialists. The Cubans live under an economic blockade. Cuba was invaded at the Bay of Bigs. Cuba has had hotels bombed, and is subject to a constant campaign of violent terrorism from the United States. Terrorists based in Miami are utilized to try and destabilize the country.

The same goes for the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. The US imperialists killed 3 million people in the Korean War. There are thousands of US troops on the Korean border. People’s Korea is subject to harsh economic sanctions, preventing it from buying important resources like oil and medical equipment.

“Freedom” and the Class Struggle

As a result of being encircled and threatened, worker’s states simply don’t have the ability to be open, free societies, full of debate. They are in a state of war, fighting for their very survival.

This can be very confusing in the United States, where we are told “this is a great country, we are free.” Anti-Communists often say things like “Communists want to take away our freedom, but capitalism is about freedom of speech, and freedom of the press.”

This is obviously non-sense. Go to the capitalist country of the Philippines. In the Philippines, being a member of the Communist Party is illegal. People are locked up, or kidnapped in the middle of the night all the time, merely on suspicion for being Communists.

Go to the capitalist country of South Korea. A young man is in prison currently for nothing other than tweeting statements supporting his northern countryfolk.

Go to the capitalist country of Columbia, where trade unionists are rounded up, and political activists are killed.

In any society, capitalist, socialist, fuedal, or whatnot, when the class that is in power feels threatened, it is forced to take measures to hold on to power.

This is true even in the United States, despite the nauseating rhetoric about “freedom” and “the greatest country in the world.” In the US, when any leader of the oppressed Black nation emerges to fight back, they are suppressed. Martin Luther King was gunned down. Malcolm X was gunned down. Fred Hampton, the leader of the Black Panther was brutally murdered by the Chicago Police working with the FBI.

In the 1960s, the FBI had an entire program called COINTELPRO designed to suppress dissent among the oppressed Black nation, as well as the rising student movement.

During the 1950s, the U.S. Communist Party was outlawed. The government even passed a law called the Mccarran Internal Security Act of 1951. This law called for Communists and progressive activists to placed in concentration camps if a “national emergency” took place.

When the capitalists and imperialists find themselves in a state of war to preserve their power, all the so-called “freedom” goes away. They are in a life and death struggle to preserve their power.

Strongholds of Worker’s Power

Every country where the working class has seized power, is also in a life and death struggle to preserve working class power, with the imperialists surrounding and attacking them.

People often wonder “why is it that in Cuba, and People’s Korea, there is only one party? In the Capitalist United States, they have the Democrats and the Republicans.”

In the socialist countries, despite being surrounded and attacked constantly by the imperialists, there is broad debate and discussion. Workers in the factories, students in the schools, agricultural workers, all debate and discuss the next steps forward.

However, the leadership of the country are all members of the same political party. They all agree to the goals of the revolution, and devoted to continuing the struggle. To be a leader of workers state, you must be a member of the working class party.

Likewise, people often ask about why socialist countries have a single leader, who is held up and admired. They ask “Why is it that Fidel Castro has led Cuba for so long?” or “Why is Che Guevara’s picture so prominently on display?” They may also ask “Why is it that Kim Il Sung’s descendants have become leaders of the People’s Korea?”

The reason is this: The imperialists, in their struggle to destroy and divide socialist countries, often will play one section of the Communist Party against another. In Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union, part of the way the imperialists were able to restore capitalism, was by creating division, talking about “hardliners” and “moderates.” The imperialists are always looking to divide the revolutionary leadership of socialist countries, in order to create instability, sweep in and seize power.

When a worker’s state holds up one leader, this is a way of making clear that are all united. It is a way of communicating that the country is standing firm against the imperialists, and will not be divided. It is also a way to make clear that the goals of the revolution have not changed, and the country will never surrender in its effort to build socialism and fight imperialism.

Kim Il Sung, Fidel Castro, Mao Zedong, and other leaders are not dictators. They do not rule by decree. In every socialist country there is a constitution, and laws, and democratic procedures both in society at large, and within the Communist Party. These are leaders who played an important role in making the revolution, holding the country together, and leading the battle against imperialism. They are revered and respected by the people. They have come to represent what the people of the country fought when the working class seized power, and what they continue to fight for each day, as the imperialists surround and attack them.

It would be a huge mistake if we ever said we want to copy the DPRK, or Cuba, or another socialist country when making our revolution in the United States. Each country has it own unique path to revolution, and its own revolutionary traditions.

We want to eventually create a socialist society that open, loose, and filled with material abundance. This can only happen, with the destruction of imperialism. As long as the imperialists are attacking the socialist countries, surrounding them, and working to overthrow them, they will be forced to tighten up.

Imagine that the workers and oppressed seize control of New York City. What would immediately happen? The NYPD, the FBI, the fascists, the army, the national guard, would all be mobilizing to attack us, and retake the city for themselves. In these circumstances, would we be able have general assemblies, with twinkle fingers, debating our next move?

No. We would need to have ironclad discipline as we planned military defense. We would need to be strict and to coordinate carefully everything move as we struggle beat back their attacks, and maintain this victory for the workers and the oppressed.

Socialist countries are in the same situation.

The Global Class War

We in Workers World Party support every country struggling to construct socialism amid a sea of hostile capitalism. However, we have no illusions that these countries are paradises or lands of milk and honey. Our party often criticized the leaders of the Soviet Union for their chauvinistic attitude, and their calls for peaceful coexistence with the imperialists, something we knew was impossible. In addition, we criticized China for its foreign policy in the 1970s, and other decisions of its leadership.
When worker’s states have rivalries and disagreements, we have always called for unity. We know that the worker’s states need to be united in the face of imperialism. We know that dividing China and the Soviet Union was a strategic measure that helped US imperialism.

We defend worker’s states, not because they are paradises, not because they are pure examples of the ideal socialist future, but because they are a step in the right direction.

One of the greatest contributions of the Soviet Union was the aid and support they gave to Black liberation struggle in the United States.

In the 1930s, the Soviet Union had mass rallies in Moscow against the Ku Klux Klan. The leaders of the Soviet Union were key in supporting the Scottsboro Nine, a group of African-American men, falsely accused of rape.

When Emitt Till was lynched in the 1954, the Soviet Union sent the photograph of his body all over the world, calling out the imperialists for their racist crimes.

When Robert F. Williams fought the KKK in Monroe North Carolina, he was able to flee to Cuba and eventually China.

Worker’s state are all valuable pieces in the global struggle for socialism. They are all victories in the ongoing battle against imperialism and repression.

Global Solidarity Toward Communism

One day, when US imperialism is brought down, we will see socialism truly blossom. With material abundance, and cooperation, all the horrors of the capitalist society will be eliminated.

Eventually, the need for any kind of government at all will gradually fade away. In a world socialist society, where everyone has what they need, with a huge abundance of material goods, Communism, the final goal of all worker’s states and all Marxist-Leninist organizers, will unfold.

Our task here in the United States is so important. Here within the center of imperialism, we must build solidarity.

We don’t just defend worker’s states. We also defend countries where capitalism is still intact. Any country that is under attack by the imperialists is defended by Workers World Party.

When the police murder an African-American, we don’t ask what his religion is, or if he has a criminal record, or if the cop felt he “had an attitude.” Instead, we mobilize against racism and police brutality.

The same goes for international situations. When the US imperialists, the biggest mass murderers on earth, point their guns at a country, we rally to its defense.

The struggle to bring down imperialism may be a long one. We may not live to see it. But it will happen. Imperialism will be destroyed. World Socialism, and eventually Communism will be created.

I get that you think this is a really clever gotcha, the bad faith coming from your post is overwhelming. But as our constitution states, we are here not simply to celebrate the victories of the DPRK or defend it against propaganda, but to also lay legitimate Marxist criticisms of their policies where appropriate. I have in the past here discussed issues with Juche from a more orthodox Marxist-Leninist line for example.

In no uncertain terms the DPRK is not up to the standards we set for ourselves here in this region in regards to support for LGBT people. While homophobia/transphobia in East Asia comes from a different place than most religious opposition to LGBT folks and was in many cases brought over or reinforced by imperialists, this in no way excuses it - it should be relentlessly struggled against. The way Cuba has reformed themselves on this topic is a model I'd like to see adapted by the DPRK as soon as possible.

Hey comrades, I'm putting a vote up on removing Wintercrest from NSLeft. Wintercrest has been locked and shut down so this vote is largely a formality in that regard. Soon we will have another vote about more ambitious changes to NSLeft.

The People's Republic of Wintercrest
Forever Forward!

| From the Office of the Revolutionary Leader ~ March 28th, 2022 |

My friends, there is a time when you look around and say “Well… this is it I guess. Time to move on.” That time has come, both for myself and other members of this wonderful region. After a discussion with the heads of state, we have come to a conclusion; At this time, revival of Wintercrest is unfeasible, with many members such as myself being too busy in the real world to put the time and effort into running a region or others, who want to move on and see what the rest of NationStates has to offer.

What Happens Now??

I am announcing that the government of Wintercrest is ceasing all activities and operations and entering a period of hiatus. What does this mean?

The government for Wintercrest, in effect, is no longer. I will remain in place as Revolutionary Leader but my job will be to maintain regional integrity and security

Wintercrest will be password-locked. Members looking to enter the region will find that they will not. This is to also prevent Wintercrest from being invaded by a foreign power or force.

There will be no RPs, no events, etc. The discord server will remain open, as a hangout spot. Most NS-related channels will be archived, however.

For our allies: Obviously, some of you will most likely close their doors with us in accordance with their embassy policies. This is fine, we thank you for your relations and hope to open them again in the future. Needless to say as well, all military operations will cease.

Thank you comrades for your time and memories.

~

Long live the Workers' Party of Wintercrest, our Revolutionary Leaders, our Revolutionary Mothers!

b) - “Citizens” are those who stand up and take involvement in the region’s progress, volunteer for leadership and help to advance the needs of the revolution on Nationstates .

c) - Active nations only are allowed privileges of “Citizenship”. Nations should be active at least once a week and be in open or private discussion with other comrades to be afforded the rights of citizenship.

d) - 12 or more of the most active and influential nations are chosen to become "Armed Citizens". Armed Citizens have: Appearance, Border Control, Communications, Embassy and Poll administration powers

ARTICLE 4 - Rights and Duties of Citizens

a) - All citizens of North Korea have the right and opportunity to advance to leading roles within the region and to help forge its future.

b) - All citizens of North Korea have the right to object to all regional decisions and have their objection be examined by the regional masses. However, the region runs on the rules of democratic centralism and once an objection is either embraced or rejected, all comrades are expected to participate in the ruling of the democracy of the region.

c) - Citizens must work hard to achieve and maintain a socialist label in North Korea.

ARTICLE 5

a) North Korea functions on region-wide democratic centralism, which means "democracy in discussion, unity in action" or a 'people's democratic dictatorship'.

b) The founder shall act as a mediator and administrator to the nations of North Korea, and has the ability to intervene in regional policy-making for the purposes of security, inactivity, and diversion from revolutionary socialist objectives.

c) All nations of North Korea new and old are free to participate in the people's democratic dictatorship. Everyone is responsible for the activity and direction of the region. Comrades must work hard in educating the masses and actively pursue a revolutionary political path for the region in its growth and development.

d) - The region's internal security measures are the responsibility of the Armed Citizens and founder in cooperation - who may eject any nation who poses a threat or exhibits reactionary attitudes of racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, cisism or any other form of oppressive language.

ARTICLE 6 - The KPA

a) - The "KPA" or Korean Peoples Army are the combined armed forces of North Korea.

b) - Citizens who wish to fight in the KPA must have a pristine political background, be active on Nationstates at least once a week and show a passion for protecting the region.

(c) - The KPA is an independent and sovereign entity both from North Korea and any inter-regional alliances and retains the right to complete autonomy in its own leadership and direction, tactics and action.

ARTICLE 7 - Foreign Policy

a) - North Korea only holds embassies and peaceful, friendly relations with other "antifascist", "serious", "democratic" and or "socialist"/"communist" regions.

b) - North Korea is always in a state of war with anti-democratic, oppressor regions, imperialist satellites, fascist and reactionary hellholes. Regions associated with capitalism and neo-liberalism are also targeted, especially when engaged in anti-communist activities, counter-revolutionary actions and holding reactionary embassies.

ARTICLE 8 - Politics

a) North Korea is a Marxist-Leninist region, we follow "scientific socialism", that is dialectical materialism.

b) - We support the struggles of all oppressed nations and peoples for independence and sovereignty.

c) - Citizen nations as well as visitors who intend to stay for any length of time must encourage the development of state socialism within their nation.

d) - Citizens and visitors must also respect the constitutional laws of North Korea. North Korea is not a bourgeois free speech region, oppressive language and attacks on the oppressed and exploited under capitalism will not be tolerated (racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, cisism or any other form of oppressive language will not be tolerated)

This region isn't exclusive to followers of Juche but they obviously are welcome here! We aren't as concerned about the classifications of your nation as much as your actual political beliefs, but fascists or people claiming to be roleplaying as such will never be welcome here.

Your nation gains people over time, there isn't a way to artificially increase or decrease it as far as I know.

This is such a solid response. I've seen others attempt a similar type of "gotcha" argument before and this really nails it concisely.

In the vote to include LGBT rights as human rights, North Korea along with notoriously anti-LGBTQ countries (Saudi Arabia, Iran) voted against it. So I don't think that you should say that the media "wrongly" potrays North Korea. I am free for debate though.

The Mass Line of Comradeland

Lessons for Communists from the Amazon Unionization Struggle:
Workers at the JFK8 warehouse have taken on and defeated the beast, Amazon, and won their union through grassroots struggle and organization. They received no help from the mainstream yellow unions, and have rejected political opportunists such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who stupidly raved about district boundaries as cause for her glaring lack of support, putting the lie yet again to her claim and DSA’s of being for the working class. The working class must be for itself, and must be a class for itself, meaning it must operate as a class as the bourgeoisie does, if it is to have any hope of snatching concessions and eventually seizing political power. The mass line method of organization and leadership requires three steps. First, going to the masses and collecting their ideas, second, taking the most advanced of their ideas and analyzing/concentrating them through the lens of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, and then bringing them back to the masses/spreading them through demands, actions, etc.

For so long I’ve been told North Korea is evil but after I watched a few videos of people being happy in Pyongyang I’m inclined to believe otherwise!

The Council Republic of Zulanka in NK

Hey comrades, we've got another NSLeft-related vote up. This one is important, a reworking of the foundations of NSLeft from Kavagrad. The main things to focus on are the changes for the Central Committee from a model of individuals running for election to consisting of up to two members from each NSLeft region and the abolition of the Gameplay and Editorial Committees, introducing Voluntary Committees.

The former moves from what I see as an unnecessarily adversarial structure in NSLeft while ensuring all member regions are represented on equal terms. The idea with the latter is to allow for more dynamic and focused projects. This CC has been slower than any of us wanted in part due to bureaucratic issues around an empty seat at the start and this reform would prevent that from happening again, the Voluntary Committees could give comrades across NSLeft more opportunities to participate. Red tape and lack of engagement are the main problems that have held NSLeft back in my opinion so I hope to see this amendment pass and end up successful addressing these issues.

Feel free to voice any objections or things you'd like to add to the amendment, additional input here is very much welcome.

The current version of the Solidarity Pact of the NSLeft:
