The Glorious Federation of Communist Volkstrad

Well, it seems like nobody's really responding here as it stands, I guess I should just spitball and see if that builds up some energy.

So right now, here's a recap of the criteria. I mean, you don't have to scroll far to see it, since it's been pretty slow, but I'll do it anyways for my own convenience:
1) PT/FanT Tech of indeterminate level(So I guess our range as far as that goes is like the Stone Age to the 1990s so go figure).

I'm okay with anything in that whole range(It might actually be fun to do some actual like super low PT for a change. Stone Age, Chalcolithic, Bronze Age, Early Iron Age etc), but I don't really know what you guys are thinking, so I'll just do something I can broadly adapt to anything from that point to the latest.

Part II of this question is how strong is the magic? Probably not gonna be a hard limit.

2)The scope and conflict we'll decide when we have some of our base factions hashed out. We can run this as an application oriented thing too, can work others into the conflict easily once the stakes and the goal are determined. I won't worry too much about this right now as such.

3) Small scale is something to consider, but the question is how small? A few dozen people? A few hundred? A few thousand? I'd say anywhere between 100 and 10,000 is probably good, maybe up to 50,000 but I think the scale will be kind of lost at that point, though it depends on how we go about it.

So far haven't really gotten feedback on these questions in detail, so I'll just kind of go off on my own train of thought and lay out a proposition to get the ball rolling.

Firstly, for tech, I suggest we do bronze or early iron age, just 'cause it's something we haven't done much of before. Plus it helps justify small scale. Smaller numbers of people, less manpower to go around.

Add in this the scaling for magic, in terms of power. It's sort of typical for us, but let's say you have 100 people. The power level for the magic would be inversely proportional to the number of people that can use it. If all 100 of them have the ability, they all have a few tricks at their disposal but nothing too flashy or strong. If only 1 guy can do it, he is a super OP as hell wizardman.

Basically, sort of sword and sorcery, rather than high fantasy. A more primitive, vicious, and savage world. Basically take all of Antiquity, both legend and history, smash it together with the Paleolithic and add a dose of Conan the Barbarian.

I'm thinking that we should just go really ham with it, make it as bizarre and outlandish as you want. Make our own mythology, in short. If we actually get off our arses and do this thing(and finish it), this could be sort of the "Age of Gods" of a timeline, a period where earth and heaven still touched, larger than life champions performed incredible feats, and all manner of demons roamed the land.

Instead of countries, armies, and statistics, we do this like tales of heroes and their companions. This RP here can be our Trojan War, our tales of the Bogatyrs, the Romance of the Three Kingdoms and the Matter of Britain to the setting. A totally different way of framing it than we usually do things, for a totally different type of story.

Well, good for you though, real life is more important

My mind has been extremely scattered lately, even when I'm on summer, so sorry for the lack of activity on my part.

I'm a big fan of Volk's idea. Trying out something out during Antiquity would be really cool, and with the idea that we're doing this sort of larger-scale D&D type operation instead of taking on a nation-level of what we do would add another layer of difference to the mix. If we're going to push this small-scale thing, where it's heroes and companions, I'd argue for a pretty small cap. Like 100 max if you're doing quantity over quantity style of play instead of lets say something stupid durable which might only have 5 if not less. Especially if it's age of gods. I'm down to keep it this small scale and pretty tightly wound around character interactions instead of pushing numbers like we tend to do if other people are up for it as well. I think it would add a bit more personal investment in a way, keep things interesting, and considering our varied interests and methods it can lead to all sorts of wacky stuff if we can really push the envelope as Volk suggested. I'm very much up for it.

If it sticks too, we can mess around with this universe and roll on with it as mythologies and callbacks and whatnot.

Pretty much what I was thinking. If the ball keeps rolling, this could be sort of the mythological backdrop of other things in the future. All we have to do is get behind it and push.

Question now, then, is what each of us will do for our groups, and from there then the primary conflict

I'll look about what might be appropriate through fantasy and other time-period appropriate mythology for what I could do for my usual non-human methods, if that can be applicable to this scenario we have.

The Glorious Federation of Communist Volkstrad

I'll of course do something suitably evil. What specifically, no idea, but something bizarre certainly

I really like the premise Volk honestly if we can do something earlier but spliced with FT elements I think it can hit a nice aesthetic. Maybe one thing we can do is everyone starts at a low level like princedoms or there equivalent, and we RP as a group?

Said group could go through each of our states and gauge and solve some of their issues at least at first. I also like your idea for magic, I was thinking of doing a theocracy with "Mono" as my Godfigure.

One plot I had in mind would be similar to the 30yrs war but on a much smaller scale, instead it would be conflict of interest between clergymen and aristocrats against laymen and peasantry.

I wanna start with something simpler cause I've had a growing interest in reexploring old storytelling tropes and possibly adding some new twist through our own legend.

What exactly did you have in mind with the FT elements?

A something more tangible without falling into the trap of going for “grounded”. The tech shouldn’t be entirely different from the magic but asymmetrical to it.

I fvckin CTE’d…..crazy

The Glorious Federation of Communist Volkstrad

Yeah.....

The Republic of Parcia

Yea

The Glorious Federation of Communist Volkstrad

Well, I don't know what you guys wanna do. Nobody seems to really want to get back into things on the RMB

The Great Federation of Republic Under Specters Grasp

Well, I've always been open, but two's a pair, not an RP. At least 3-4 if we lump Tog and Parc, but the most I can say is that we can't really do region RP's anymore, we've lost the momentum.

The Glorious Federation of Communist Volkstrad

Well, yeah, it seems like nobody really checks the RMB with any regularity these days
