The ⛼ Cemetary Manager ⛼ of General Custer

Depends what you mean by "functioning," The United States of America. There are some that are larger and livelier than this one. Two of them were invaded by a group of people calling themselves "French" and refounded.

Thanks for your explanation, Dresdenitania. In the interests of transparency, anything you want to tell me can be posted on the RMB. In the rare event that --er-- State secrets are involved a TG works just fine.

As with any democracy, we don't have to like each other as long as we treat each other with respect as it is likely that we all have different points of view all of which may be valid despite their differences. As for governments, you are free to institute any that you'd like to. If you want something posted on the WFE (for instance, a list of nation names and job titles) let me know by TG or by posting on this RMB.

As for the isolationist policy, I"m open to suggestions with the caveat that I'd prefer to only open embassies with democratic, non-invader, stable regions with names that have some kind of relationship to the real world since this region has a real world type of name. I'd also be open to an exchange of embassies with regions that have some significance in NS even if they don't have an RW counterpart. However, none of the regions that approached us met those criteria and as I didn't want to offend them or to sound pretentious (since we were then a region of only four nations) I adopted a policy of isolationism.

In a couple of weeks, there is another NS player who will be coming to assist in the efforts to set up a government here.

The Free Land of The United States of America

Why so long?

The Democratic People's Republic of Dresdenitania

He won't have consistent access to a public computer until the University begins fall classes and opens their library in his town.

The Democratic People's Republic of Dresdenitania

I am pleased to announce that we are transitioning from a government governing one region, to a government about to govern 50 regions. The other aforementioned NS player is assisting us in that effort. He has created a region for each of the 50 states, and he will be recruiting for us as well as all of them. We should grow exponentially. We will also be getting a forum built and a webpage. Custer, I will get all the links and information together and providing it for you soon to post in the WFE. The forum will be for our use as well as a place for all the new state regions to operate. The forum will create organization and unity. You can now list my nation and Arcornia respectively as President and Vice President in the WFE. Let's celebrate, and take pride.More to come soon...

Arcornia

I'm going to point out that while I don't carry an american flag and stuff, I am in fact an american (minnesota) and I'm not a pirate. Despite my nation name and all...

I'm here mainly to support Dresdenitania. I'm a friend of his for the past few years. I was a delegate of a dying region and the opportunity to build a region and put forth a government, I took to. So here I am.

Myself, I'm also a libertarian. I enjoy theory and discussion but I'm not much of a charismic character online so I'm really not going to do much except help keep things constitutional around the place.

Zarvarza

All US States are established, to destroy the gridlock of the old ones, by region-hoarders. Recruiting and Construction will begin soon.

Zarvarza

oh, and I need to know what you want the world factbooks to say on them

The Energy States of Copernicium

So, thus far we have one guy who's made 50 regions. That seems like a lot to keep track of. Why is this fun exactly?

The Democratic People's Republic of Dresdenitania

You've got to start somewhere, Copernicium.

Go big or go home!

The Free Land of The United States of America

If it's worth doing in the first place.

The Free Land of The United States of America

Also, you insult a number of great regions with your dismissal of the original state regions.

The Democratic People's Republic of Dresdenitania

We're willing to take that risk. Arcornia, Zarvarza and myself don't make our decisions or govern by popularity polls. We have never minded getting up the nose of the establishment on Nation States. Why do the same old tired things that everyone else is doing? Why not try something a little different? That is our stance and we're sticking with it. Do or Die. No ifs, ands or buts about it. The only people who are successful on this game are those willing to put it all on the line, to risk being attacked and criticised, and are willing to be bloody right up to the line. Our stand on these things is final.

The ⛼ Cemetary Manager ⛼ of General Custer

Welcome to the United States of America,Zarvarza. We're honored that such an ancient nation has chosen to grace our shores. If you and your friends have the energy level and the time to devote yourselves to region building more power to you. Judging by the size of your 3 nations, 2 of which appear to have been created around the same time, you've been with the game long enough to know what a challenge it is to recruit and that it's nearly impossible to invade region where the founder is present.

So, I wish you good luck in your endeavors as long as it doesn't involve more taxes and bigger government. *grin* I'm also an American and I don't hail from the Great Lakes Area.

The Democratic People's Republic of Dresdenitania

Also, General Custer, I feel we have been excluding you in allowing you to participate in creating a government. I apologize. After all, you are the founder, and I would like to welcome you to offer suggestions and to work with us.

Arcornia

I figure a easy and nice way of doing it would be to use the US constitution, with a few minor changes. For example, we're way too small for an elected congress instead of just a direct vote. A supreme court could be replaced with a panel of 2 or 3 or maybe even one. President doesn't need a cabinet really, at least not yet

The ⛼ Cemetary Manager ⛼ of General Custer

Good ideas, Arcornia. Offices can be added if the region grows. Right now a P, VP and a 3 member Supreme Court would be sufficient. We already have a Congress of sorts with the WA delegate. I suggest any WA nations be congressional members.

I'm not looking for any office.

Zarvarza

@ Arcornia: Sounds good to me Arcornia. Perhaps, we work on getting governers in the States first, through recruiting, Then as populations grow (with each governer naturally recruiting for themselves) we can expand on state governments as well. In the mean time, a simplified US Constitution should do nicely.

@ General Custer: I am the king of recruiting, if you know history as well as I do. And believe me, I have FAR Far older nations than this. Likewise, if my intent was to invade, that would have been done long ago successfully due to your habit of long absences. (yes with influence in place too). However, I am greatful to see you much more active and at least taking an interest in a region you long-neglected. This region has big potential, and its our job to assist you in seeing that that potential is met. And how terribly sorry that you do not hail from the Great Lakes Area. Be sure to Visit Eau Claire, Wisconsin, my personal hometown at some point in the future... its an 'all-american city' afterall.

@ Dresdenitania: I have that recruiter tool you asked for (with all the proper specifications in place), what state do you want to begin with: Alabama? Virginia? Ill need to see you on MSN as well to log into the database.

@ General Custer: Never underestimate the power of knowledge. This highly skilled, rediculously over-dedicated croud assembled here is ready to turn your region into a superpower of NationStates. But, do, give us time. Your imput is valued, and you are welcome to chat on MSN with me at anytime (Zarvarza@live.com).

@ Arcornia: Add my MSN too.

@ Myself: Note to self: Get everything you need to say in one statement, rather than having to refer to people twice in one post.

The ⛼ Cemetary Manager ⛼ of General Custer

Quiet regions with almost no members don't need active founders. The only time founders need to be active is when immigration increases and congress takes it seat.

Arcornia

^ Took the words right out of my mouth

Zarvarza

Juts my thoughts as well

The Democratic People's Republic of Dresdenitania

Well, I am glad that everyone is on board. Let's get this show on the road!
