Boat Boat

Two hearth-class cargo barges (MS Hearth and Koselig) have been launched from Esquimalt, along with another Satsuma-class corvette (RNS Electra). The cargo boats, not much more than locomotives with a boat hull and a paddlewheel, will service Texada island's mines, as well as the gulf island's exports of olives, fruits, and demented mutated goats. Another cargo ship will be laid down, to the chagrin of some newspapers that issue cartoons depicting the government stealing locomotives from various towns at gunpoint. However, the other two small slots will construct two of a new type of vessel - the Sundog, a trimaran fast attack craft (11 RL days to construct). They're designed by R. A. Raskam, national hero and newfound shipbuilding magnate - his fame lies as a pirate hunter among the waterways of Van island. It's said Raskam once took the world's largest sardine can off its display stand, and sailed it into battle. Deriding voices have labelled him as a former pirate himself, but there's no denying the fellow is brilliant - his auxiliary electric motors, using scavenged or cheap homemade batteries, have become common among civilian small boats.

The Sundogs are unique in that they will use a specialized type of fuel - liquified coal, thought up at research facility "The Orca" and manufactured at the Yuquot lighthouse grounds factory. This new fuel is slow to manufacture, and necessitates sparse use of the vessels fueled by them, but it should allow the attack boats to reach higher speeds than would be possible with solid coal. The Sundogs won't have much range or heavy seakeeping abilities, but these aren't as necessary for their role in coastal defense. The two boats, once complete, won't pack as heavy a gun as the Satsumas - a single semi-fixed 30mm autocannon, and two .50 cal machine guns in the rear - but this will be supplemented by a pair of torpedo tubes. Raskam has rough specifications for his plans for a wet-heater steam torpedo, but finalizing and manufacturing them will be the responsibility of the refurbished factory on Texada island. Rumor has it the "gibraltar of the georgia strait" will be building more of these torpedoes than the boats will need - the admiralty has thought to supplement their lack of ships by arming islands as "stone frigates".

In other news, our hundred-strong training detachment of alpine troops have been attacked by Vespas. No, not a swarm of italian scooters - it's what the locals call the giant cold weather wasps that hang out in the forests near the mountain bases. Somehow, these bees got the wonderful idea to try to hide their nests among the undergrowth - competition with other swarms, probably - and the result is that you can't take five steps without stepping on a nest. The alpinis are looking more and more like beekeepers as they battle their way to the mountains, to clear trails and mark ascent paths. Looking on the bright side of things, they're also discovered honey! There are a lot of experienced salvagers left over from the repair of Esquimalt base (known as "the patchwork"), and there are proposals to organize some of these people into "hazardous environments team" - then we send them in to collect the honey.

The Principality of Gravelton's representative would be none one other than Colonel Matthew "Mad Matt" Richmond, who proceeded to gregariously greet Manheim.

Colonel Richmond shrugged it off with an easy smile. "Taking their time no doubt. These Federals are slow to action unless someone lights a fire under their *sses."

The Five Year Plan

“Industry is the tool that the new world will be forged from.

Hence, the importance must not be understated.

With the newfound materials by the foraging party, construction can begin. The metal is being melted down for reuse. It is hard, but rewarding.

We start small. Like a domino chain, the small will lead to the big. And the big will lead to the goal.”

For the first time, the U.S.S.R heard the sound of hammers and cogs. Men and women, United in the goal of a better world and a better starting point for all, now and ever.

The construction of a factory is as much fantastical as practical. Having local industry would allow for ease of production of everything from tractors to tanks. Agriculture produce would skyrocket, and more people can diversify in their employment, which leads to better living standards for all, and more equal starting points in life.

To make society fair; the socialist world.

Shovels strike deep in the soil, removing earth for stone. Laying a foundation is essential for large constructs.

Concrete is hard to make. No problem, for now, we will use stone until cement can be produced. The walls are stone and wood. The machines are simple, but that is all we can do right now.

Morale is high after the exceeding quotas of the foraging party, so while exhausted, no one felt that the effort was in vain.

(Ooc: Small factory construction. Standard time. Will complete on 17/7/2020)

The Appalachian Enclave Chapter of Green Lands

A fun day, brought by Clyde

The school was surprised when a few Brahmin came inside it and a few people started building stands and when it was ready it was announced that there would be free food and free haircuts alongside with face painting. Students would see posters promoting Clyde's campaign everywhere, and soon there would be live music to everyone enjoy. The party was guarded by the school Faculty, Security Officers and the Prefects, it was a fun day. By the end people cherished for Clyde and the amazing attraction he has brought to the school.

The Appalachian Enclave Chapter of Green Lands

Jasper Strikes Back!

After the library was sacked and trashed by a rampaging group of partying Jocks, the Nerds formulated a plan to retaliate against their age-old enemy that they'd never forget. Students were shocked to see Nerds charging out in leather armor, fireworks shooting up over the field, and Radroaches on the field. Prefects quickly showed up to the Library to defuse the situation - but an 'accidental' leak from the Chemistry Lab quickly cleared the building before any serious punishments could be handed out. This has put the Nerds and Jocks on pretty even footing.

Quick Rundown

• Clyde Hollows remains firmly in the lead.
• Jennifer Elly has been replaced as the Honor Student candidate by Axel Danvers.
• Ricky Benedato loses the first elimination round by a single vote.
• The Lurkies have stepped up attacks in the Flemington, calling for a response by the student body.
• The Prefects have started increasing random searches on campus.

The Appalachian Enclave Chapter of Green Lands

New Jersey, Flemington, Green Land's Academy.

After a long, hard-fought and sometimes confusing Presidential Race; an unlikely, charismatic Non-Clique - Clyde Hollows - was voted in as School President; beating out some of the toughest, most influential and longest thriving cliques on campus. Hollows was lead to the balcony by Headmaster Ed Alves, and accompanied by friends Ricky Benedato and Clyde Marsh. The Head Prefect Abuzar and Deputy Prefect Sullivan East also made an appearance.

A victory party was held in the school's Assembly Hall, and an afterparty followed at the outskirts of town.

With a Non-Clique as President, the power seems to be very much in the hands of the people. The question however, remains;
Which people?

Manheim: "Madam President I'm not really sure why it is that you've called me here. The transcript of the meeting clearly says that this agreement was for us to stay out of each other's way. As far as the Reich is concerned your objection to Gravelton's expansion is an internal matter, seeing as they are your protectorate. With that said the Federation hasn't completed its obligation to the Reich as we have not received the promised cargo vessel."
