Well, a group of like 20 gladiator slaves excaping lead to a full scale rebellion and smashed their way through Rome as other slaves kept escaping and joined him. Took out legions of Roman soldiers and eventually made it back to their land (they were pretty deep in Roman territory by the way). Even then, they kept sending more and more legions at them. They held out for 6 - 8 years with gorilla warfare. Then their leader died since his friends were bribed and they betrayed him by murdering him and the rebellion lasted an additional few years but without him masterminding all the battle tactics, they fell. Still, that’s pretty unimaginable. Also, in the battle of Thermopylae the Spartans and the thespians sent out a tiny force to combat far more Persians than there were of them. The results were as follows: “Leonidas and his 300 Spartans all lay dead, as did the 700 Thespians who had stood by them. The Persian dead were said to number around 20,000” Even a underdog can win a fight. Never underestimate a smaller force, nor under estimate desperation.
