Against - I cannot support a resolution that endorses what I see to be a flawed system of treatment (rounding up the crazy people and sticking them all in a single jail, to create an environment so surreal that a sane individual would develop psychosis just to cope), especially as it requires every nation to have the option of that flawed system of treatment available - even if they have substantially more effective, less harmful treatments as standard.

Mandatory shackling on the wall, feet up - that's the way to go!

Ok I'll take that as a no & also reserve a spot for SSP at the local wall to hang around at.

Our thoughts are with Japan & others affected by the 8.9 Earthquake & resultant tidal wave.

Permit Male Circumcision

Description: The World Assembly,

AFFIRMING that male circumcision, the removal of some or all of the foreskin from the penis, may be performed for a range of medical and religious reasons;

HAVING VOTED to deny a ban on male circumcision on previous occasions;

DECLARES male circumcision to be a medical procedure, and entitles patients undergoing male circumcision to all the protections associated with that status;

OBLIGES all member states to permit the practice of male circumcision, notwithstanding their authority to regulate the procedure.

I am for this proposal, if you wish otherwise then say so & why. PS all males will get the chop if they don't vote!

So long as we can regulate it, limiting it to only be done in sterile (perhaps the wrong word to use in relation to male genitalia, make that hygienic) conditions with proper tools and training.

It makes a change seeing a resolution which is short, to the point, and not so full of ambiguities and loopholes that the mice are holding an acrobatic contest inside it.

DEFINES clone as 'the organism that is an exact genetic copy of another'

RECOGNIZES the risk of cloning mistakes,
URGES nations to take steps to prevent cloning mishaps,
REQUIRES that cloning only be done by trained professionals,
DECLARES that nations cannot classify sentient sapient clones as their own legal class,
REQUIRES sapient clones in member nations be extended all the legal rights, privileges, and opportunities granted to their genetically identical counterparts,
DECLARES that clones cannot be used for the purpose of or as part of a violation of other GA resolutions,
AFFIRMS the right of nations to pursue cloning of sapient beings,
PRESERVES the right of nations to illegalize such cloning in that nation,
REMINDS that nations are allowed to enact further legislation in regards to clones, so long as it does not violate this act,

I don't like either of the requires in this resolution. The first is somewhat ambiguous, while the second essentially grants clones legal permission to take the place of their original (as most individuals property, job and family are all in some way legally theirs - and by insisting that the rights/privileges/opportunities come from the genetically identical counterpart, instead of the cloned species...)

Repeal "In Regards to Cloning" is before the WA. As we voted no to the proposal I have cast For the repeal.
