If I remember right, Italy is deeply in debt. Wasn't there some kind social unrest a while back when the government implemented "austerity" measures.

What are the taxes like on business?

It was like 10 years ago.

Employees are more taxed than their employers, and big business can evade easily, every year the government issues big fiscal amnesties that do not apply to small business and workers who are taxed on their paycheck directly.

In big cities and even certain small towns you have to pay taxes to the mafia too if you want to be in business, otherwise they'll burn your place down or make sure you have some kind of accident.
The mafia is deeply involved in the government, state agencies, big industries and banks.
Industrial waste is dug in the ground by mafia associates that are paid by the owners of the business to do so and may receive a paycheck from the local government too

That explains a great deal.

For the first time in three decades the Academy Awards was actually worth watching last night and I missed it. Life isn't fair... :(

I am being targeted by a moderator for no reason. I have been given no reason why. I am very frustrated and I don't like being bullied for nothing. I don't know if it's my politics or just someone picking me to mess with. Either way I am sick of it

Almost certainly it is your conservative views. The Nation States management has a strong liberal Dogma running through their ranks and little tolerance for heretics.

I think you're right. It's sad. That's the difference between right and left. The right supports speech and the left wants to take it away so you can't point out their flaws

Will Smith is the only man in Hollywood who has a pair.

But you gotta give it up for chris rock too. He took his medicine like a man as well. So I suppose we have to say chris rock also has some stones. 😆. But the rest of them are mostly stoneless 😆

The Pirates of Xyanth

Good morning peeps,

Alas real life has had me treading water with the sharks. Let is see what I can do to liven things up around here.

It seems that Twitter's Board of Directors is not all the excited about Elon Musk having a say in Twitter. Elon Musk is a free speech absolutist. Many of Twitter's employees are fearful that Musk will allow Trump and others back on the platform. Twitter's board recently set up a poison pill that would kick in should any person or entity acquire more than 15% of the stock. That poison pill would allow existing stockholders to purchase stock at a discount which could limit Musk's ability to get control of the company.

The left and the media (which are pretty much one in the same) have been howling at the moon since Musk acquired a little over 9% of Twitter's stock, earning him a seat on the board. The man that was formerly praised for building electric cars and reaching for the stars is now seeing hit pieces portraying him as an evil rich guy.

What do you think? New poll is up.

Musk is buying twitter? Very bad.
We need to close it.
Many of Musk's fans are genderfluid sjw fanatics and he himself agreed to give his child a meme genderfluid name.
It's another billionaire trying to influence opinion polls, he'll follow the money trail.

I enjoyed trump's takes tho, it'll be fun to see leftoids triggering themselves to death if he comes back

If Musk is serious about forcing Twitter to become free speech-friendly, I'm all for it. The wailing and gnashing of teeth from the left over the last few days has been amusing to watch.

Musk is no stranger to hollow public stunts, so I'll believe it (him actually attempting to acquire Twitter and following through on his proclaimed vision for it) when I see it.

Yes, ideally Twitter and large social media companies would be broken up, or at the very least divested of the US/UK gov't actors that influence their practices.

There are already alternatives (Gab, Minds, MeWe, Rumble, etc.) that should be more relied on regardless, if one considers a social media presence to be in their interest.

Gab is such a good platform. Been on it ever since I got banned from douchebook. Them banning me was the best change of environment that could have happened.
