So The Brass don't expect the server issue to be fixed anytime soon. We've been given a workaround that bypasses the insurance, but requires us to process each script separately. It's easy enough for new scripts, but refills all get batched together so all the refills that have been called in since Wed will have to be reprocessed one at a time.

So, they're not going to pay the ransomware?

Oh I don't know. It's not the DOD system that's affected. I haven't heard that Change Healthcare is open to paying the hackers if indeed their systems are being held hostage.

Someone(s) in the DHA pushed through some sort of update so the system bypasses the insurance without us having to manually do so. It's still going to take several days to get caught up. At least we can process the scripts, sounds like some retail stores are still in limbo

so have an old school system as a back up you know like a rolodex.

At one point when I worked at the local Zoo during undergrad, the servers for our POS system went down and we had to manually write down credit card numbers to run later. I wound up being the lackey who input everyone's credit card orders (as I was a college student among a lot of High Schoolers) and my till wound up being something like $2,500 off what my receipts said. It was among the dumbest work experiences I ever had simply because nobody remembered how to operate without the POS system up.

I wouldn't pay the bastards either. My comment was half tongue in cheek, half serious. However, I am wondering what is keeping them from the wipe, reformat, reinstall, and restore ceremony. At least I would like to believe the data was backed up routinely, and staggered between different media.

Kinixys wrote:At one point when I worked at the local Zoo during undergrad, the servers for our POS system went down and we had to manually write down credit card numbers to run later.

I'm kind of surprised that people allowed their card numbers and expiration dates do be written down and carted off to places unknown, by people unknown, and disposed of who knows how.

The Spring Nation of Trecdom2

Yeah, I don't know why they don't have more backups. Their most recent update had this to say.
We are working on multiple approaches to restored the impacted environment and continue to be proactive and aggressive with all our systems, and if we suspect any issue with the system, we will immediately take action.

I saw footage of that bridge rescue. Didn't have that on my '24 Bingo Card.

From the press conference it doesn't sound like the fire department did either.

***** Texas Saturday Breakfast *****

Woah Boy! Taco Time in Texas! Are you ready for some Saturday Breakfast, still All-Fresh? Bring out the Drones! The NewTexas Happy Taco Stands, in conjunction with the NewTexas Incendiary Corporation, has approximately 1 trillion of the fastest, lightest drones you have ever seen. This fleet is specially designed to deliver tacos to every man, woman, child, whatever, all 2,293,158,000,000 of you in Texas.

Today's special breakfast will Saturday Chicken & Egg Breakfast Tacos [COVID-19 Week CXCVII Edition]! The Big Tex Happy Taco Stands of NewTexas keep bringing out the ones you love, Texas! Ever wonder which came first, the chicken or the egg? Wonder no more! Today's taco is a time-honored favorite taco that will satisfy both answers. We take chicken breasts that have been slowly braised all night in chicken stock, onions, garlic, tomatoes, ancho chilis, cumin, and Mexican oregano, and shred them. The juicy shredded chicken is then stirred into perfectly scrambled Texas Grade A, farm-fresh, Organic Eggs. Once they are almost done, we stir in a generous amount of mild, shredded Monterrey Jack cheese that makes these tacos melt in your mouth. Oh yeah! We load all that into a hand-made corn tortilla made by certified Texas Abuelitas with love. Remember, a whole egg in every taco!®

Today's Special Salsa is another favorite - Veracruzana Salsa - a spirited, tomato-y roasted salsa made from tomatoes, bell peppers, poblano peppers, onions, garlic, capers, and black olives. This will really fit the bill for this taco. The taco is hermetically sealed in a Stay-Warm® pouch wrapped in the same ol' aluminum foil we are all familiar with for our breakfast taco. We are trying to keep it real, peeps. For your beverage accompaniment, a packet of Sanka, Tang, and a Lipton Tea bag will be included with every delivery as well as salt and pepper and a napkin. Yes, it is different, but it works, and you do not have to leave your residence. Woo! And, watch out for the drones! Start your day off the right way; munch out and go back to sleep. You know you want to!®

Stay Safe Texas. Stay Well. Hang in there!

***** Texas Announcements *****

Happy Texas Independence Day! For those unaware of the meaning of this day, on March 2, 1836, Texas declared its independence from Mexico and became the Republic of Texas. History was forever changed. For ten years, from 1836 to 1846, Texas existed as a separate and unique nation. In Texas, March 2 is an official state holiday - Texas Independence Day. Each year, there are numerous parades, festivals, and even a complete historical reenactment of the event. Happy Texas Independence Day y'all!

That was a giant brass balls high angle technical rescue. Hat's off to the Louisville Fire Department.

What's really cool is that it is clear they trained for that. And they got good at it. As goulish is it sounds, as a volunteer and trainer on our department, it is gratifying to be able to apply some of that constant training.

Volunteered for a deployment. At this point, there is no date, except 'fall sometime', and no location listed. Big AF is looking for a bunch of people so I'm thinking it's to a well-established base. We'll see what happens.

The Big Tex Happy Taco Stands of NewTexas

Oh, Trec that is scary! There are so many hotspots around the world at the moment, who knows what state they could be in by Fall. It is even scarier that if Biden knows he is out, he could leave a war for Trump as a parting gift. We hope you have not volunteered for a bad thing.

It appears you were spot on regarding Change Healthcare being targeted by hackers. It is a nationwide problem now.

I highly doubt Biden would start a war just to spite Trump. It's likely a deployment to a well established base somewhere, but that's just my guess at this point. The Change Healthcare issue has been nationwide since the start, it's just that until recently it wasn't front page news.

Our movie poll was tied with Sci-Fi and Comedy. Galaxy Quest fits both categories, but there's no reason we can't do 2 separate movies.

The NewTexas Taco Stands Abuelas have been up all night slicing 2-inch slabs of genuine Prime Angus Beef Bologna and handing them off to the Head Griller who grills them up just about as fast. As they come off the grill, they are passed to the NewTexas Taco Stands Abuelitas who quickly cube the bologna and toss the grilled yum-yums into the ginormous black cast-iron skillets and proceed to whip up some perfect scrambled eggs with them.
